One World

1998

Sitcom set in Miami, Florida, the series cantered on ex-baseball player Dave Blake and his artist wife, Karen, who have adopted six teenagers from different backgrounds

Drak Pack

1980

1980's CBS cartoon series, Drak Pack, showed the adventures of "Drak Jr." (Dracula's nephew), Howler and Frankie (the teenage descendants of The Werewolf and Frankenstein's monster) as they teamed up to fight the forces of evil. In this case, "evil" was O.G.R.E., the Organization for Generally Rotten Endeavours, led by Dr. Dred and his henchmen Toad, Mummy-Man, The Fly, and Vampira. The voice cast starred Alan Oppenheimer ("Skeletor" of He-Man) as uncle Count Dracula, Jerry Dexter ("Alan" of Josie and the Pussycats) as Drak Jr., Bill Callaway ("Aquaman" of Super Friends) as Howler and Frankie, Hans Conried (narrator of many Dr. Seuss specials) as Dr. Dred, Don Messick ("Scooby" on Scooby-Doo) as Toad and The Fly, Chuck McCann ("Ben/The Thing" on Fantastic Four) as Mummy-Man and Julie McWhirter (the voice of the animated Jeannie) as Vampira.

The Hudson Brothers Razzle Dazzle Show

1974

The Hudson Brothers had a summer prime time variety show on CBS. Months later, they got a Saturday morning series. Bill, Mark & Brett were the Hudson Brothers that performed songs, had monologues & comedy sketches (Chucky Margolis). Regular features included The Cookie Bear (from the Andy Williams Show off NBC) as well as Rod Hull & his Emu (they were also regulars on the summer series). Bill Hudson would marry Cindy Williams while Mark Hudson produced an album for another brother band trio, Hanson.

Fantastic Voyage

1968

The cartoon version basically picked up where the popular 1966 movie left off. A team of government scientists known as the "Combined Miniature Defense Force" had been voluntarily shrunk to microscopic size in order to gain access to areas too small for normal-sized explorers. Commander Jonathan Kidd led the crew, which traveled aboard a high-tech vehicle called the Voyager. With scientist Busby Birdwell (who built the ship) at the controls, the Voyager could dive underwater like a sub, fly through the air like a plane, or rocket off into space like a UFO. The cartoon version also featured Professor Carter, biologist Erica Lane, and the mystical Guru, who possessed some kind of "mysterious power." Whatever it was, it came in handy—in every episode, the crew faced unknown microscopic creatures, as well as shrunken enemy spies, all out to stop the CMDF. While the animation was simple and the story lines even simpler, Fantastic Voyage won points for its ability to stay true to the original movie. Each episode paid close attention to the detail of the miniature world, which was, without a doubt, the main hook of the show. The producers also refused to patronize their audience with simplistic dialogue, giving the show a more grown-up feeling.

Defenders of the Earth

1986

Defenders of the Earth is an animated television series of the 1980s featuring three characters from comic strips distributed by King Features Syndicate - Flash Gordon, The Phantom, and Mandrake the Magician - battling the Flash Gordon villain Ming the Merciless in the year 2015. Supporting characters include their children Rick Gordon, Jedda Walker (daughter of The Phantom), Kshin (adopted son of Mandrake), Mandrake's assistant Lothar, and Lothar's son L.J. The show lasted for 65 episodes; there was also a short-lived comic book series published by Star Comics (an imprint of Marvel Comics).

My Favorite Martians

1973

Based on the 1960s' prime-time CBS sitcom "My Favorite Martian," this cartoon changed the format around slightly by adding extra characters. Newspaper reporter Tim O'Hara and "Uncle Martin" were now joined by Tim's niece Katy, another antennae-headed Martian named Andromeda, and shaggy pet alien-dog Oakie Doakie. The O'Haras protected the crash-landed aliens' identity by pretending that they were Katy's Uncle Martin and his nephew Andy. The sudden influx of "distant" relatives living with Tim and Katy sparked suspicion with neighboring Detective Bill Brennan and his son Brad, who routinely tried to uncover the truth about their mysterious neighbors. Another holdover from the sitcom was Lorelei Brown, Tim's dizzy landlady, who had a crush on Uncle Martin.
