Wayne Szalinski is a preoccupied inventor who just can't seem to get his electromagnetic shrinking machine to work. But when he accidentally shrinks his kids down to 1/4-inch tall and tosses them out in the trash, the real adventure begins. The kids face incredible dangers as they try to make their way home through the jungle of their own backyard. Hurricane sprinklers! Dive-bombing bees! A runaway lawn mower... and much much more!
The Szalinski family is back, this time hilarious disaster strikes when an experiment causes their new toddler son to grow many stories tall.
Wayne Szalinski's notorious shrink machine misfires...again! This time, it's Wayne and his wife, brother and sister-in-law who are shrunk to just half an inch tall, forcing them to navigate through Wayne's home while trying to get their kids' attention. But thinking that their parents have left them home alone for the weekend, the kids take full advantage of their newfound unsupervised freedom, filling up on junk food, rollerblading in the house, playing loud music and throwing a party for their friends. None of it goes unnoticed though, as the adults gain new, respectful insights about them. And when the kids finally find the adults, they consider leaving them as is, but decide they want their parents just the way they've always been.
Shrunk will be the fourth movie in the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids franchise, following Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves. The movie will feature an older Nick Szalinski following in Wayne's footsteps as he continues Wayne's size-changing experiments while they both deal with the death of Diane, who was Wayne's wife and Nick's mother. Nick now has two children: Theo, who has a gloomy disposition and is sensitive about his weight, and Maddie, who hosts a YouTube show where she showcases Nick's inventions. Nick's sister, Amy, will also return for this movie
Wayne Szalinski, the show's protagonist, is the husband of Diane and the father of Amy and Nick. The well-meaning Wayne constructs a variety of inventions, including the Shrink-Ray, Neuron Nudger and Brainiactivator among others, that create predicaments for his family. His wife, Diane Szalinski (Barbara Alyn Woods), is a lawyer. Diane supports Wayne and is very loving, but gets fed up with his antics. Amy Szalinski (Hillary Tuck) is the only daughter of the Szalinski's. She displays normal teenage angst, but comes to love her family more than anything else. Her younger brother, Nick (Thomas Dekker), is very much like his father. Nick likes to invent things and even looks like Wayne. He and Amy generally get along with each other.
