“Punky Brewster” is a classic 1980s sitcom that aired on NBC and told the story of 7-year-old Punky Brewster who, after being abandoned by her parents and left alone with her dog Brandon, crashes in an abandoned apartment building in Chicago. She was discovered by the building's manager, a curmudgeon by the name of Henry, who decides to take her in, with Punky in turn trying to bring some joy into Henry's life. Several decades later, the series is rebooted on NBC’s streaming service Peacock and sees Punky as a single mother of three who is trying to get her life back on track when she meets Izzy, a young girl in the foster system who reminds Punky a lot of her younger self.
