Après avoir passé son adolescence parmi les Indiens Chiricahuas, Mike Blueberry est devenu le marshall d'une petite ville située non loin des terres sacrées amérindiennes. Il tente d'empêcher des chasseurs de trésor de s'aventurer sur ces territoires interdits.
U.S. Marshal Mike Donovan (Vincent Cassel) (referred to as Broken Nose by the native tribe; unlike the comic his nickname is not Blueberry) has dark memories of the death of his first love. He keeps peace between the Americans and the natives who had temporarily adopted and taken care of him. The evil actions of Blount, a "white sorcerer" lead him to confront the villain in the Sacred Mountains, and, through shamanic rituals involving a native entheogenic brew, conquer his fears and uncover a Recovered memory he would much rather deny.
Mike Blueberry (interpretato da Vincent Cassel), sceriffo di Palamito, viene iniziato dai pellerossa e cerca di mantenere il difficile equilibrio tra le due civiltà. L'arrivo in città del killer Wally Blount, alla ricerca di un misterioso tesoro indiano, porta violenza e brutalità nella contea. Blueberry scopre che Blount era lo stesso individuo incontrato anni prima e che non era riuscito ad uccidere, ferendo a morte invece la prostituta con cui il protagonista aveva una relazione "particolare". Grazie all'aiuto di Runi, il fratello sciamano che lo ha iniziato ai culti misterici dei pellerossa, riuscirà a sconfiggere Blount ma dovrà affrontare anche i suoi demoni interiori (che si materializzeranno nella mente del protagonista dopo un viaggio psichedelico con la ayahuasca).
