After their victory at the Junior Goodwill Games in Los Angeles, California, the Ducks are awarded junior varsity hockey scholarships to Eden Hall Academy, the prestigious prep school that coach Gordon Bombay (Emilio Estevez) attended. Bombay announces he is leaving the team to take a job with the Junior Goodwill Games, much to the team’s dismay. His position is filled by former Minnesota North Stars player Ted Orion (Jeffrey Nordling).
Emilio Estevez stars in this trilogy of 1990s films as Minneapolis-based attorney Gordon Bombay, who, after being pulled over for drunk driving, is sentenced to 500 hours of community service, coaching youth hockey. The movies revolve around a Twin Cities ice hockey team, composed of young players that stick together throughout various challenges. Estevez reprises his role from the films in the Disney+ sequel series.
