夏休みに、祖父の家に遊びに来ていた少女・蛍は、妖怪たちが住むといわれる“山神の森”へ迷い込んでしまう。途方に暮れ、泣き出した蛍の前に現れたのは、狐の面を被った少年・ギン。ギンに助けられた蛍は、毎年夏になると、ギンのもとを訪れるようになる。そして、ふたりはいつしか惹かれあってゆく。だがギンは、人でも妖怪でもない、触れると消えてしまうという不思議な存在だった。

During summer vacation, Hotaru, a young girl visiting her grandfather's house, wanders into the “Forest of the Mountain God,” a place believed to be inhabited by spirits. After getting lost and frightened, she is rescued by Gin, a mysterious boy wearing a fox mask. Gin helps her find her way, but warns her that he cannot touch humans nor be touched by them, otherwise he would disappear forever. Although neither fully human nor a spirit, he continues to wait for her. From then on, she visits him every summer, and over time their bond grows stronger, even though they can never truly touch.

Durante le vacanze estive, Hotaru, una ragazzina in visita a casa del nonno, si addentra nella “Foresta del Dio della Montagna”, un luogo che si crede sia abitato dagli spiriti. Dopo essersi persa e spaventata, viene salvata da Gin, un ragazzo misterioso che indossa una maschera da volpe. Gin la aiuta a ritrovare la strada, ma la avverte che non può toccare gli esseri umani né essere toccato da loro, altrimenti scomparirebbe per sempre. Sebbene non sia né completamente umano né uno spirito, continua ad aspettarla. Da quel momento in poi, lei va a trovarlo ogni estate e col tempo il loro legame si rafforza, anche se non potranno mai toccarsi veramente.

Durant un été chez son oncle, Hotaru, jeune fille humaine alors âgée de six ans, fait la rencontre d'un esprit du nom de Gin dans la forêt. Très vite, la petite se lie au fil des étés avec Gin. Mais si elle le touche, celui-ci disparaîtra pour toujours. Au fil des années, la jeune fille est de plus en plus tentée de le toucher...

여름방학, 할아버지의 집에 놀러온 소녀, 호타루는 요괴들이 산다는 "산신의 숲"에서 길을 잃어버린다. 어떻게 해야할지 몰라 울기 시작한 호타루의 앞에 나타난 여우 가면을 쓴 소년, 긴. 긴에게 도움을 받은 호타루는 매년 여름이 되면 긴을 찾아 할아버지의 집으로 온다. 그리고 두 사람은 서로 끌리게 된다. 하지만 긴은 사람도 요괴도 아닌, 만지면 사라져버리는 이상한 존재였다.

Маленькая девочка Хотару заблудилась в заколдованном лесу, населенном привидениями. Она встречает мальчика в маске по имени Гин, но считает его лесным духом, который может растаять от одного прикосновения. С помощью нового друга Хотару выбралась из леса, но она не может забыть Гина.

Hotaru Takegawa es una niña que siempre pasa el verano en la casa de su abuelo en un pequeño pueblo. Durante un verano, cuando tenía 6 años, ella se pierde en el bosque de la montaña que hay junto al pueblo y comienza a llorar desesperada por no saber cómo salir de él, hasta que se aparece ante ella Gin, un misterioso chico con una máscara de zorro que resulta ser un "yōkai", un espíritu que vive en ese bosque como muchos y que si es tocado por un humano, dejará de existir. Gracias a Gin, Hotaru consigue salir del bosque y encontrarse con su abuelo. A partir de ese momento, Gin y Hotaru pasan todos los días de verano jugando dentro del bosque; no sólo durante ese año, sino durante todos los veranos siguientes, desarrollando una fuerte amistad que con el paso de los años se transforma en amor el uno por el otro.
