On the 19th of November 2010, the Pike River mine exploded with 31 men trapped inside. Two would only just make an escape and over 5 days the men's families and loved ones waited, hoping the other 29 would come out alive. Two further explosions would seal the men's fate, their bodies entombed in the methane filled mine forever. However, the fuse that would eventually snuff out so many lives was lit decades before. Set in the drama of the 5 days between the three explosions, Pike River reveals the tragic back story of the mine where corporate greed would eventually lead to deaths of 29 men.
