Après un tour du monde de trois ans, Adam retrouve sa famille dans une petite ville du sud de l'Allemagne. Il est accompagné de sa nouvelle petite amie Gwen, 25 ans, rencontrée lors de son périple. Inspiré par la vie privée de son frère Paul, Adam propose à Gwen une relation ouverte, où chacun est libre de rencontrer qui il veut. Pour ne pas s'opposer à son compagnon, la jeune femme accepte. Mais lorsqu'Adam entame une liaison avec une Française, l'expérience se transforme en un tourbillon d'émotions et d'amertume incontrôlables.
