Maurice Jarre

Maurice Jarre, who won three Oscars – all for films by David Lean – was one of the last of the “silver-age” film composers. Jarre took a lot of criticism for "going Hollywood" and becoming a commercial success, however, he was such a good film composer that certain of his scores - such as those for The Train (1964) and Five Card Stud (1968) - are better known than the films from which they come.
