Nonkel Jef

De reeks speelt zich af in het fictieve dorpje "Ginderbos" in de Kempen, als deelgemeente van het eveneens fictieve bedevaartsoord "Achterhout". Men kan boer Jef omschrijven als een oude, ongemanierde man die zijn eigen leven wil leiden en dat liefst op de kap van anderen. Hij is een echte gierigaard en probeert uit alles munt te slaan. Jef is gehecht aan zijn handpop Modest.
