Zwischen weiten Wüsten im Osten und den Ufern des Toten Meeres erstreckt sich das Haschemitische Königreich Jordanien. Eichenwälder im Norden bilden die Kulisse von Mar Elias und der Araber-Festung Ajlun. In den weitläufigen Ausgrabungsfeldern von Gerasa wird die römische Welt wieder lebendig, ebenso im Amphitheater und in der Zitadelle der Hauptstadt Amman. Ihr Souk und die Blaue Moschee weisen in die islamische Gegenwart. Die Film-Reise führt weiter nach Süden über Madaba, den Berg Nebo und Bethanien ans Tote Meer. Abwechslungsreiche Vegetation bieten das Wadi bin Hammad und das Naturreservat Dhana. Es folgen das Wadi Mujib und die Kreuzritterfestung Kerak. Höhepunkte sind die legendäre Nabatäerstadt Petra und die fantastischen Steppen und Felsendome des Wadi Rum. Akaba ist einziger Hafen und Badezentrum am Roten Meer.

The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan stretches between vast deserts in the east and the shores of the Dead Sea. Oak forests in the north form the backdrop of Mar Elias and the Arab fortress Ajlun. The Roman world comes to life again in the extensive excavation fields of Gerasa, as well as in the amphitheater and in the citadel of the capital Amman. Its souk and the Blue Mosque point to the Islamic present. The film journey continues south to Madaba, Mount Nebo and Bethany to the Dead Sea. The Wadi bin Hammad and the Dhana nature reserve offer varied vegetation. This is followed by the Wadi Mujib and the Kerak Crusader Fortress. Highlights are the legendary Nabataean city of Petra and the fantastic steppes and rock domes of Wadi Rum. Aqaba is the only port and bathing center on the Red Sea.
