Reme is a village woman from an undetermined age - she says she has taytantos - who arrives in Madrid with her father Paciano and her chicken Cristal (in reference to the protagonist of Cristal) to stay in a hostel run by her aunt Asunción. There he will live with her cousin Elena, the prostitute Sonsoles "Sonsy", the old Filomena "Filo", the spinster Casta and Virginia de Jimeno and with the handsome Luis, whom she will fall in love with, the mature men in love Menchu and Obdulio, the posh and innocent Junior and the former convict Juncal also stayed.
