Ancient travel chronicles recount mysterious routes along rivers and lakes on the Taitao Peninsula used by a now-extinct indigenous canoeing group. These routes allowed them to avoid the terrifying open seas of the Gulf of Penas in the South Pacific and the icy waters of San Rafael Lagoon.
