『陳懷玉』郡主原是媽祖手中所持的玉笏，因長年吸取天地之氣而逐漸有了靈氣，後奉媽祖旨意下凡歷劫修行、渡化眾生…… 經過投胎轉世，陳懷玉成了漳州郡王陳龍湖之三女兒，個性刁蠻任性，好打抱不平，常惹是生非，令爹娘相當頭疼。一次在廟會看到一個玉鐲子，任誰都戴不上，沒想到，懷玉被七皇子翰文不慎一撞，竟將玉鐲套進手中，懷玉與七皇子翰文因此結下樑子。 然更令懷玉震驚的，竟是玉鐲裡藏了一個奇怪的老頭子？老頭子自稱是河伯，原是漳州城外的河神，因故被千年鯰魚精趕走，只得落難住在這只古鐲裡面，現在好不容易碰上有緣人，便一直糾纏著懷玉，要懷玉幫他趕走這些惡妖，拯救當地百姓，懷玉卻怎麼也不信，只知道這老頭子半夜跑來她房裡一定有不良企圖，遂差人拿掃把轟他出去，誰知河伯竟憑空消失，懷玉覺玉鐲有鬼，欲拔掉玉鐲卻怎麼都拔不掉，河伯暗笑，這下他跟定她了。
