As a challenge to myself, I'm trying to I'll write/record something new, anything new, every day of January 2011, just so long as it's "a complete musical statement" (whatever that means). I'll be using Garage Band, so the quality level of sequencing probably won't be that high, but this is mainly just so I can get my creative chops going. Number 13 here is an attempt at a Strayhorn/Ellington style ballad. Part of the reason why I don't normally write in this style is because, like probably only Bach before him, Ellington reached absolutely mastery of the music, and to try and write like he did is rather depressing, actually, haha. Still, I had a lot of fun with this, playing piano too!
