Hydraulically Testing Pull-Out Force | Strongest Vise Jaw
I couldn't find friction ratings of jaw materials, so I experimented with copper, aluminum and steel. Steel came out on top, withstanding roughly 1200lbs of pull out on our aluminum coupon. I don't know why steel is best, but I intend to find out.
