Nach fünfzehn Jahren intensiver Debatten, kontroverser Diskussionen und politischer Auseinandersetzungen beginnt im Jahr 2003 endlich der Bau des Denkmals für die ermordeten Juden Europas in Berlin – auch bekannt als das Holocaust-Mahnmal. Ein historischer Meilenstein, und zunächst scheint alles nach Plan zu laufen. Doch schon bald treten unerwartete Probleme auf, mit denen niemand gerechnet hat.
