Season 1

  • S01E01 Islands on the Edge (Southeast Asia)

A pioneer missionary once wrote, “Some want to live within the sound of church or chapel bell; I want to run a rescue shop within a yard of Hell.” Dispatches from the Front: Islands on the Edge takes you where there are no church buildings or chapel bells, yet the Gospel is unstoppable and Christ’s Kingdom is advancing even in the face of persecution, desperate poverty, and Asia’s secret slave trade. Travel to the islands of Southeast Asia––from the towering city of Singapore to the squalid encampments of Borneo. Ferry through Cambodia’s remote river country, visit a Buddhist monastery where people with AIDS are living and dying, and rejoice with new believers in a house church in Indonesia. Here is an inside look at the radical rescue work of the Gospel on the frontier of human need.

  • S01E02 A Bold Advance (Albania, Kosovo, and Montenegro)

A Bold Advance is set in the rugged regions of Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro among people deeply wounded by war and brutal dictatorships. Yet here in this scarred land are those who have been changed inside-out by the power of Christ. From Albania’s lawless frontier to Montenegro’s “Mountains of the Damned” to the killing fields of Kosovo, Dispatches from the Front: A Bold Advance is another Macedonian call to action and a reminder that the Gospel still shakes the gates of Hell.

  • S01E03 I Once Was Blind (West Africa)

The third episode in the award-winning series Dispatches from the Front goes deep into the lands of West Africa, lands broken and bloodied by years of horrific civil war, desperate poverty, and dark religion. For centuries Islam and demon worship have held millions in the grip of fear, violence, and blood-guilt. However, the Gospel is changing all of that! I Once Was Blind opens windows to whole villages turning to Christ as the Gospel breaks through borders and breaks down altars where human sacrifice was once made to Satan. See how fresh wells of water are drawing thirsty sinners to Jesus. Take a front-row seat on the frontlines where a dress rehearsal is underway for the day when the ransomed from every nation, tongue, and tribe will see their Savior and sing for joy and wonder at the reach of such grace!

  • S01E04 Souls of the Brave (India)

Dispatches from the Front continues in India, where, beyond its storied past, brilliant colors, and puzzling diversity, are the sorrows of caste and the shadows of prison walls where millions live in chains to gods of their own making. See this land of stark contrasts, from the squalor of an Untouchables’ encampment to the dazzling symmetry of the Taj Mahal. Go inside India’s Temple of Doom, and take a boat on the Ganges to the holiest city of Hinduism, where pilgrims in vain wash away their sins in its muddy waters. Travel to a secret baptismal service and gather with believers by lamplight as they rejoice over Jesus and the fellowship of His sufferings. Souls of the Brave is a story of extraordinary love and extraordinary sacrifice as believers take up their cross, follow Christ, and never look back.

  • S01E06 The Power of His Rising (South Asia)

Over two billion people in the world have no access to the Gospel—no Bible, no church, no Christians, no hope. Since many of them live in countries closed to traditional missionaries, how will they hear the Good News? One way is that Christ is calling and equipping men and women with skills—professionals—to use their talents to reach people who are hard to get to. The Power of His Rising is an inside look at how this is unfolding in South Asia, where baristas and bakers, pilots and farmers are a force for the Gospel! It’s an amazing journey by land, sea and air—down crowded streets and remote rivers—to find light shining in darkness and persecuted believers singing because of Jesus! Dispatches from the Front opens yet another window to see Christ at work in the world through His endless life and relentless grace!

  • S01E07 Day of Battle (North Africa)

Dispatches from the Front goes to North Africa to people upon whom Christ has long set His sovereign love. From the martyrs of the early church in Carthage to the bold believers across North Africa today, Gospel advance there has always been marked by fear and faith, joy and risk, life and death. Follow the trail of Christians who are sowing the Word of the Cross and reaping its joyful harvest! From the birthplace of Arab Spring and its all-out assault on Christians to unreached cities on the edge of the Sahara, Day of Battle, goes to the front line, where the Gospel is extending the boundaries of Christ’s Kingdom and faithful men and women are taking up David’s praise in Psalm 140, “O Lord, my Lord, the strength of my salvation, you have covered my head in the day of battle.”

  • S01E08 No Regrets, No Retreat (China)

From the start of the modern missions movement 200 years ago, China has been to missionaries what Everest is to mountain climbers. China’s size and distance was magnetic—at least for men and women with a big enough view of the Gospel to go. No Regrets, No Retreat begins in England to capture the missionary spirit of those early Gospel risk-takers—and then goes on to China to show how Christ continues to build His Church in stunning ways in our day. Despite the legacy of suffering and persecution, the number of Chinese Christians may now be approaching 100 million, and a truly Chinese church movement is underway, reaching the teeming coastal cities and pushing westward to the walls of the Himalayas and beyond. Dispatches from the Front crosses the globe to showcase this Gospel Everest, magnifying Jesus’ saving power and His ever-expanding Kingdom!
