Typhonus learns that GRAF Shield on Io is not operational and forces Exofleet further away from the Homeworlds. However, a large Pirate fleet comes to Exofleet's aid, allowing it to escape to the secret Pirate stronghold of Chaos. Phaeton has Typhonus executed for his incompetence and replaced with his (Typhonus') clone.
