Season 1

  • S01E01 Military Crest, Nighthawk & The El Presidente

    The hosts bring out the big guns and practice shooting rifles from real field positions along Gunsite's famous Military Crest course. Jim Tarr's children stop by for a segment about kids, guns, and safety. The new Nighthawk Custom 870 gets worked hard by Jessica Nyberg. Also, the hosts go head to head on the most famous pistol skills drill of all, the El Presidente?and then argue about who has the better excuses.

    Dave Spaulding uses the hosts' skill sets to demonstrate the differences between practicing for competition and combat.

    Jim works viewers through the proper way to use a vertical forgrip on an AR-15, then he and Rich frustrate themselves trying to shoot handguns at long range.

  • S01E10 Clearing Drills, Handling Distractions, .223 vs .308

    Rich works viewers through how to clear drills, then former SEAL Jim Kauber runs our hosts through a deliberately distracting set of pistol drills to get them to focus on the fundamentals. Jim tries to argue how size doesn't matter as he takes the .223 side of the .223 vs .308 debate. Surprises abound in our competition as the hosts try hitting exploding targets at distance with handguns.

  • S01E12 Trijicon Mini-ACOGS, Shotgun vs. AR

    Rich and Jim review the amazing Trijicon mini-ACOGs, then cover the basics of one-handed pistol shooting. Shotgun News' Dave Fortier stops by and takes the rifle side of the Shotgun vs. AR argument--just remember, it ain't over until somebody yells "Wolverines!". For the competition Rich and Jim try their hand at shooting the new 5" Walther PPQ at distance while moving--and the viewers learn that at H&DW, apparently it is sometimes possible to miss fast enough to win.

  • S01E13 Hornady Critical Duty Ammo

    Hornady's Critical Duty ammo gets a workout as Rich and Jim perforate both a windshield and a car door with it to demonstrate penetration. Once again Shotgun News' Dave Fortier joins our hosts as they review the many ways to run a pump shotgun (including 'Plan B'). For the competition things get downright epic--Rich, Jim, and Jessica Nyberg go head-to-head-to-head shooting stationary and moving rifle targets out to 200 yards at The Site in Illinois, refereed by former Navy SEAL Jim Kauber

Season 2

  • S02E01 Imminent Threat

    Rich and Jim work through handgun disarming techniques, then Jim and Dave Spaulding examines what happens in a gunfight before the shooting actually starts. Rich and former Navy SEAL Jim Kauber work though using less than optimal tools for self defense (such as hunting rifles). Finally, Rich, Jim, and Jessica spin the wheel in their head-to-head competition as they try out the infamous Texas Star.

  • S02E02 Reloads

    Rich and Dave Spaulding demonstrate basic handgun reloading skills, then talk about the effectiveness of modern pistol ammo with a veteran of the Miami Dade EMS. Chris Trapp joins Rich to work through reload drills and malfunction clearing with a rifle. For our competition for the first time we have teams led by our hosts pitted against each other, using both snub nose .38s and AR-15s.

  • S02E03 Firearm Basics

    Jim reviews the new Steiner Micro Red Dot Sight, and Rich and Dave Spaulding explain the difference between Ready and Preparatory positions with a handgun. Jim shows Rich a number of common sense tricks he's learned shooting competitively over the years. Jim, Rich, and Jessica have to focus on the basics as they go head-to-head on this week's competition, 'Distraction Drill'.

  • S02E04 Versatile Shooter

    Jim gives an honest review of the new Taurus Curve, and Rich and Dave Spaulding work through fine points of drawing from concealment. Jim and police trainer Roland Perez work through some improvisational shooting. Rich and former Navy SEAL Jim Kauber work through the benefits of having a sling on your rifle. Jim, Rich, and Dave Spaulding go a little crazy shooting a .380 at distance in '.380 Madness'.

  • S02E05 Competition

    Jim points out the finer points of picking up a loaded gun at speed, and Rich reviews the new Ruger LCP Custom. Jim has a lot of competition tips for beginners as he runs Jessica through a sample USPSA stage. Jim and police trainer Roland Perez compare running a rifle in competition versus defense. For our competition Rich, Jim, and Jessica get running and gunning inside the live-fire shoot house at The Site.

  • S02E06 Weapon Customization

    Arthur Viani and Jim explore the benefits of a customer trigger pull on your carry gun. Rich gets into trouble as he tries to keep up with the ladies in 'Girls and Grips.' Jim and Jessica compare the results of iron sights versus optics as they work Gunsite's famous Military Crest course For our competition Rich and Jim combine recycling and shooting in 'The Green Team.'

  • S02E07 Close Quarter Combat

    Rich and Jim work through a little edged weapon defense, and Jim raves over the new Ruger Gunsite Scout, which is everything Jeff Cooper wanted in the design. Rich and Jim run through the often rarely discussed points of using a rifle in close quarter situations. Finally Rich, Jim, and Jessica get their war faces on as they tear through The Site's Jungle Run in this week's competition, 'Going Commando'.

  • S02E08 Home Defense

    Rich and Jessica work on engaging multiple targets with a rifle. Guest Chris Trapp shows Rich how to clear corners with a handgun, and Jim how to search with a rifle. Inland Manufacturing's new faithful reproduction of a World War II-era M1 Carbine is reviewed. Finally, Rich and Jim have a competition where everything that can go wrong, does.

  • S02E10 Tactics

    Former SF operator Craig Palmer and Dave Money educate our hosts on the Special Operations Care Fund. Jim reviews a new take on the tried with the Springfield Marine Corps Operator. Rich and Chris Trapp work through the best ways to shoot from behind cover. For our competition Rich, Jim, and Dave Spaulding experience how difficult it is to hit a moving target in 'Get That Robot'.

  • S02E11 Evil Encounters

    Jim schools guest Chris Trapp on the latest close quarters techniques when dealing with unusual threats. The sky is filled with miniature drones as we check out the latest technology helping our war-fighters. Former SEAL Jim Kauber helps Rich and Jessica survive a produce attack, then Rich, Jim, and Chris Trapp battle the undead from a sniper tower in this week's competition.

  • S02E12 Weapon Control

    It's all about the shooting as Rich and Jim compare double and single action trigger pulls. Guest trainer Dave Spaulding shows how cadence of fire is as important as speed, and then demonstrates how the controls of the AR-15 are not so dissimilar from most pistols. Finally, Rich and Jim battle bolt gun versus semi-auto on moving steel targets from the 200-yard line'and the results might surprise you.

  • S02E13 The Well Rounder Shooter

    Rich and Jessica work at shooting on the move, and Rich and Dave Spaulding work on their holster skills. Former SEAL Jim Kauber details the differences between bolt guns and semi-auto rifles when shooting at distance. Finally Rich, Jim, and Jessica run The Site's Scrambler for an explosive ending.

Season 3

  • S03E01 Ammo Types

    Rich and Jim fire 9mm and .45 ammo into ballistic gel with impressive results. Rich presents tips on one-handed malfunction clearing, and Scott knocks down steel in a fast-paced drill. Jim, Jessica and Scott blast soda cans in a .22 showdown.

  • S03E02 Alternate AR

    Rich, Jim and Scott shoot AR-15s in .308, 6.8mm SPC, .300 Blackout and 6.5 Grendel. Jim reviews a new Steiner light/laser, and Scott tackles the famous El Presidente drill. Rich, Jim and Scott shoot on the move in a four-corner competition.

  • S03E03 The 1911

    Rich, Jim and guest Rob Leatham explore the iconic 1911 pistol and give shooting tips. Rich demonstrates flashlight techniques, and Jim reviews the DoubleStar PhD. Jessica, Jim and Scott battle it out in a carbine-on-steel competition.

  • S03E04 Concealed Carry

    Rich, Jim and Jessica cover the finer points of concealed carry - guns, holsters and clothing - and Rich provides expert tips on the combat draw stroke. Guest Jim Kauber pit Rich, Jim and Scott against each other in a long-range rifle competition.

  • S03E05 Survival

    Jim and Scott discuss survival guns and ammo. Rich and guest Dave Starin instruct viewers on the proper use of cover. Scott shows off a simple but effective handgun drill. Rich, Jim and Jessica square off at the 300-yard line.

  • S03E06 Introduction to Steel

    Rich and Jim show how steel targets can improve handgun skills. Jim reviews a new Smith & Wesson .22. Rich demonstrates crucial pistol reloading tactics. Rich, Jim and Jessica hammer dozens of steel plates in an exciting head-to-head competition.

  • S03E07 Precision Rifle

    Jessica, Scott and guest Jim Kauber tackle long-range rifle shooting. Jim reviews the Taurus 709 Slim, and Rich gives close-range shooting tips. Rich, Jim and Scott battle it out on a moving target with a .454 Casull single-action revolver.
