The first part is about Vietnam. Most of the population there is under 30 years old, the Vietnam War, which shaped an entire era, is just one of many stories from the past for these young people. Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi are pulsating economic metropolises, the officially communist regime has made friends with capitalism for 20 years.
The second part of Peter Kunz's journey in Indochina leads through Laos, which in many ways is still a country of yesterday. After the Vietnam War, which devastated the country worse than any other country in Indochina, it had long been isolated from the rest of the world. Here, too, you try your own mix of socialism and market economy, but Laos is still one of the poorest countries.
