Anton Anderson is a 2.5 mile long tunnel and is the Longest highway tunnel in North American connecting Portage to Whittier Alaska. It was built in the early 1940 and was originally used for Military Purposes, but as time went on and travel to Whittier Increased, the tunnel was eventually converted to dual use, so that both everyday vehicles and trains could use the tunnel.
