Nei giorni successivi alla Liberazione le strade di Davide e Giulia, entrambi legati alla Resistenza, si incrociano per caso. I due, aiutati da Ben, un ex-ufficiale della Brigata Ebraica, occupano un casale abbandonato in cui ospitano bambini italiani e stranieri aiutandoli a recuperare la voglia di vivere, giocare, studiare, lavorare e amare.
The war is over (freely inspired by the characters and the facts that actually happened in Italy and in Europe) begins just after the Liberation, in the months after the tragedy of the extermination camps, the few survivors return to their home.
