Die im November 2010 eröffnete internationale Gartenschau in Taipeh (Taiwan) stand ganz im Zeichen der ökologischen Nachhaltigkeit. Dieser Grundsatz sollte sich auch in der Architektur des neun Stockwerke hohen „Eco Ark Pavillon“ widerspiegeln. Der besondere Clou dieses vom Harvard-Absolventen Arthur Huang entworfenen Ausstellungsgebäudes: Seine Wände bestehen aus 1,5 Millionen recycelten Kunststoffflaschen! Eine Idee für innovativen Umweltschutz, schließlich wandern allein in Taiwan jährlich rund 90.000 Tonnen solcher Plastikbehälter in den Müll.
Planned to be one of the greenest buildings in Asia, and possibly the world, the Eco Ark aims to be a glowing example of how to turn a problem into a solution. Its walls are made completely out of recycled material.
Pronto será el edificio más “ecológico” dentro del sistema LEED de certificación de edificios sostenibles. Estará construido con POLLI-Bricks, unos bloques hechos con botellas de plástico recicladas, que son capaces de resistir los tifones y terremotos más fuertes de Taiwán.
El edificio será traslúcido y estará construido en su totalidad con productos de desecho.
