NASCAR analyst Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his wife, Amy, an interior designer, renovate a dilapidated 150-year-old historic home in Key West, Fla.; the home has a crumbling foundation and rotted walls infested with termites and bees.
Rotted wood and termite damage present a serious challenge to Amy's plans; in between falling through the floor and adding support beams, Dale and Amy manage to transform their small, boxy rooms into airy and comfortable spaces.
The Earnhardts tackle the second floor and reconfigure its entire layout while dealing with dead rodents, cat feces and Dale Jr.'s enthusiasm for diving into projects without completely knowing what to do
Dale and Amy set out to transform their backyard jungle into a perfect space to entertain family and friends. They create the tile backsplash and a sink out of reclaimed materials and find a clever way to use a surfboard as a shower. Dale enjoys operating the excavator to dig out space for the pool, but the Florida heat rivals his experience in a race car.
