Man may have tempered the spectre of nuclear evil. But tonight I have the unenviable task of reporting that warfare has been taken out of man's hands. We're now at the mercy of machines, and a battle, the likes of which we've never seen before, is about to begin. Outside the studio, women have lashed themselves to the railings. Britain is about to witness the birth...of Robot Wars, which is all about robots...fighting.
Last week a new type of war came out of nowhere, and rocked the very fabric of society. When the cruise missiles were gingerly lifted from their silos in Berkshire, we figured the world would be a safer place. But we were reckoning without Robot Wars! World Leaders are in a blind panic. Last week it was reported that Tony Blair stopped grinning for five minutes, Alexander Haig has flown to Buenos Aires, but that's probably a bit silly, because the fighting is confined to Britain.
Amid reports that robot wars are now breaking out all over the world, the European Union, with the backing of the United Nations, today announced that it would do "Everything in its power to halt the spread of this vicious and vile disease". They would rather we did a programme on daffodils and bunny rabbits. But we're not going to. What we are going to do is get on with the Docklands Chainsaw Massacre, and meet the 6 robots who tonight will compete for death or glory!
In a desperate bid to bring peace once again to this sceptred isle, the USS Nimitz today arrived off the coast with a full compliment of F-14 fighters. Now ordinarily, the might of the US Navy's flagship would be no match for the robots on Robot Wars, but tonight, things are a little different. Tonight, it's a lightweight special, where all the robots weigh less than 12kg. They're small, but don't worry, they're still vicious. So let's go and meet the only machines in the world that are brave enough to spill Prince Naseem's pint!
One day, somebody opened up the shell of an oyster and found inside what appeared to be a large globule of phlegm. But instead of throwing it away, he ate it. And he discovered that it was not only delicious, but also, that it was an aphrodisiac. Well I have the same amount of respect for the man who looked at his remote-controlled car and said "I know, I'll armour-plate that and use it to bash into other armour-plated remote-controlled cars". it may not have resulted in an urgent need to have sex, but he had invented Robot Wars.
Throughout history, warmongers have promised that their conflict will be the mother of all battles, but tonight, we're gonna show them how a proper war should be fought. The whole series has been leading up to tonight's final showdown, and throughout the land we're getting reports of a nation on tenterhooks. Men are tending their allotments, women are cooking supper, children are tucked up in bed and dreaming of the day they can have a pony. But here, in the East End of London, we have six more robots revved up and ready to fight it out for that last place in the final showdown.
The story behind the making of the first season of Robot Wars - six weeks to design and build the house robots and scrap metal sets.
If you've ever wondered whether machines are taking over the world, then wonder no more, 'cause Robot Wars is back. It's bigger, it's more destructive and offers more metal carnage than when Metal Mickey tries to juggle with Semtex. Robot Wars is a survival of the fittest. But as contenders aren't body beautifuls in figure-hugging lycra, they're ugly lumps of metal made out of nuts and bolts and household appliances, and whatever was left lying around the garage at the time. Oh and yeah, they wanna kill each other.
Ever since the first chimp picked up a bone off the prehistoric floor and used it to bash open the skull of a wildebeest, men have been obsessed with their tools. Millions of years on, and our homes are full of labour saving devices: toasters, refrigerators, microwaves and that thing you bought of the Shopping Channel with the free introductory spoon. But lately, my toaster’s been giving me the eye, imploring about being tumble-dried to death, and my food blender is now officially a lethal weapon. We live in dangerous times, and to prove it, six lifeless objects are about to be bought dangerously to life to fight for a place in our series semi-finals.

This competition involves famous British celebrities taking the controls of Britain's most famous robots. Which celebrity will win?
In this competition, competitior robots work as teams. One robot fights another robot, while their partner is on the side of the arena, waiting to be tagged, but most of the time, the rules go out the window!
This is a new event containing not 1, not 2, but 6 robots all together in the arena at the same time! Every now and then a robot is eliminated. 4 battles later, there are only 2 robots left. Whoever wins the last round is the new Annihilator champion. This is carnage at its best!
The episode presented grudges between Razer and Behemoth from the First World Championship and Spawn of Scutter and Vercingetorix for the Fourth Wars Heats.
Featured four British robots fighting against four American robots to see which side had the best machine in a simple knock-out tournament.

After the main competition of the Second Wars, a special episode gives robots the chance to settle old scores and also allows robots that did not feature in the main series a chance to battle in the arena. Judgement Day - Two separate vengeance battles, both involving Mortis. It took on Cassius and later Napalm to settle a grudge in each of the first two wars. Reserve Rumble - A one-off battle between five robots that were rejected from the main series. Inferno Insurrection - An exhibition match where Nemesis and Stock Robot Ramrombit were sprayed with paraffin then set alight by Sergeant Bash. Super Showdown - The final of the only Super Heavyweight Championship held in the history of Robot Wars. Internet Insurrection - A melee contested by four teams with the belief that they had the best website. The episode also featured highlights from the Featherweight, Lightweight, Middleweight and the other Super Heavyweight championship battles of the series.
A special episode featuring highlights of the second series of Robot Wars. Hosted by Craig Charles, it took a look at some of the best and worst moments of that series. The episode features clips from all the Heats, Semi-Finals and the Grand Final of the series. Additionally, behind-the-scenes clips could be briefly seen sometimes during the segments featuring Craig Charles.
Back in the days when the internet was a little baby, and we had to make our own entertainment… we all watched a programme called Robot Wars. Full of clever people who made robots in their garages that smashed each other up for fun. In the arena keeping order were a team of angry robots called the House Robots. They were there to keep the peace or if they felt like it, smash, bash and crash the competitors on a whim. But when the show finished, the House Robots went into retirement. Shunned by their public, they never lost sight of the dream. Over the years they have evolved, growing bigger, badder and much much more dangerous. Now they’re back and this time they’re really cross. The presenters have also been rebooted, the competitors are ready to fight, and the new series of Robot Wars is back. 3, 2, 1, Activate!
Olympic athletes the Brownlee brothers, DJ Scott Mills, space scientist Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock and sports presenter Suzi Perry help design their own fighting robots to battle it out in the bulletproof Robot Wars arena. Faced with the House Robots and some mystery pit hazards, they need to prove they have got what it takes to become the Robot Wars champion.
Paralympic gold medallist Kadeena Cox, international football legend Robbie Savage, science and history presenter Neil Oliver and popstar Jordan from Rizzle Kicks help design their very own fighting robot to battle it out in the bulletproof Robot Wars arena. Faced with the House Robots and some all mystery pit hazards only the best will make it through to become the Robot Wars champion.
