As soon as we get to a new place, we always try to get above it. The rooftops provide safety and give awareness over the area. I don't feel like I am familiar with the place until I see it from above. The constant pace of city life, crowd of people moving around, clusters of cars making noise - it is very isolating and confusing. Seeing everything from a higher perspective makes it all simple and understandable. It all seems much calmer and organized once zoomed out. That is safety to me. Of course angry residents or security might beg to differ and sometimes that causes more stress then being in between the streets, but, for me, the risk is worth the reward.
