Day in Court

Bobby vertritt Eddie Wicks, einen Drogendealer, der einen Kunden angeblich in Notwehr umgebracht hat. Bobby kennt Eddie seit Jahren und hat ihm schon viele Male geholfen, mit dessen Geld sogar seine Kanzlei aufgebaut, doch dieses Mal zweifelt Bobby an Eddies Unschuld. Nur aus alter Freundschaft vertritt er Eddie. Auch Staatsanwältin Helen Gamble glaubt nicht an Notwehr und will Eddie hinter Gitter bringen - und zwar so schnell wie möglich ...

Tempers flare over a particularly tough case. Bobby defends old cling/drug dealer Eddie against the murder of an addict. Eddie claims it is self-defense. D.A. Helen brings the coroner to testify that it wasn't. The coroner's testimony is damaged by prior odd behavior. Eddie attacks Helen to try to force the judge into a mistrial. Bobby & Swackheim nearly come to blows. Each of the participants, Bobby, Helen & Swackheim, express their outrage with the legal system.

A l'approche de Noël, Bobby se heurte à un juge alors qu'il prend la défense d'Eddie Wicks, un dealer qui a tué un homme de sept coups de couteau et qui affirme avoir agi en état de légitime défense...

Bobby difende Eddie, un suo vecchio cliente spacciatore accusato dell'omicidio di un tossicodipendente. Eddie dichiara di averlo fatto per autodifesa, Helen, invece, persuade il coroner a testimoniare che non lo sia stato. Eddie aggredisce Helen in aula per costringere il giudice ad annullare il processo. Bobby e il giudice Swackheim arrivano quasi alle mani. Sia Bobby, sia Helen e sia Swackheim esprimono il proprio sdegno nei confronti del sistema legale.
