刘宋元嘉年间，天下积弊积弱，监国刘义康羽翼未丰，为改变时局，他暗中蛰伏，走访民间，邂逅了正义善良的骊歌（李沁饰），两人联合智斗为害一方的士族陆家，情愫暗生。为打破士庶隔阂，刘义康（秦昊饰）联姻将门沈家，此人恰是骊歌。刘义康心怀天下，推新政以安民，拔庶族、劝学兴农等措施触及士族利益。面对士族凌威，伉俪二人联手制敌，却先后遭到陆、谢、王三大家族势力扑压，内忧外患接踵而至，刘义康被逼至绝境。骊歌始终陪伴在侧，輔佐他力輓狂瀾、推行新政，兩人的感情浴火彌堅，最終開創了一片盛世昌榮。

During the Liu Song dynasty, powerful aristocrats have taken control of the government, throwing the country into chaos. To change this, Chancellor Liu Yikang (Qin Hao) introduces new policies for political reform. To break the alliance between the aristocrats, Liu Yikang enters into a marriage alliance with the Shen family, who has roots in the military. His fiancé turns out to be Shen Lige (Li Qin), whom he has previously met at a dance house. After marriage, Li Ge assists Liu Yikang in dealing with their political opponents and implementing new policies. However, in response, the aristocrats ally together to suppress Li Ge and the Shen family, who is later massacred. Pained by her loss, Li Ge vows to take revenge for her family.

Li Ge a pour seul but de venger la mort de ses parents en tuant le responsable, le prince Liu Yikang. Mais la tentative d'assassinat ne se passe pas comme prévu et les circonstances amènent Li Ge à se faire passer pour la fille perdue de la famille du général Shen et est ensuite promise comme future concubine à Liu Yikang. Elle se lie alors d'amitié avec un mystérieux jeune homme qui l'aide à faire face à la corruption au sein du gouvernement. Elle ignore que cet homme n'est autre que Liu Yikang, son fiancé et pire ennemi.
