TV rock chic Ruby Rose hits Essendon Keilor College in Melbourne to find a bunch of talented kids to perform the musical Fame. The kids will have to sing and dance their way to acting auditions….it’s not just about finding the most talented…it’s about stepping up and taking on a once in a lifetime opportunity!
50 hopefuls from Melbourne’s Essendon Keilor College front up to the school for the last round of auditions. But selecting the cast of ‘Fame’ is no easy feat for Ruby Rose and her team. Who from the final 50 will earn a place in the show? …..and in the biggest show stopper of all, where will they be staging the one and only performance?
It’s the first day of intensive rehearsals and with only six days until the kids from EKC hit the Regent Theatre stage, there’s not a moment to lose. Host Ruby Rose and her team are gearing up for the kid’s first performance in front of musical theatre heavyweights, John Frost and Kelly Abbey. But during rehearsals the kids just aren’t cutting it. The coaches are so annoyed with the lazy performances and behavior, they pull the pin. But with John and Kelley on their way, will today’s performance still go ahead?
The countdown is on with only five days to go ‘til the kids from EKC hit the Regent Theatre stage. TV rock chic Ruby Rose and her team are keen to improve on yesterday’s dismal performance so they jump on day 2 of rehearsals with gusto. The coaches call on the help of some special guests as they attack dance routines, New York accents, and the showstopper number, Fame. Cracks start to appear with injuries, sickness and lots of bad attitude in the lead up to yet another end of day performance for musical theatre gurus John Frost and Kelley Abbey.
It’s just 4 days until the kids from EKC hit the Regent Theatre stage…and after the huge wrap from John Frost and Kelley Abbey, everyone is on a high….but not for long. An over confident cast produce a very average rehearsal. It’s enough tip choreographer Kelly Aykers over the edge! Throw in some 80’s Fame fashion and a visit from the king of street dance Nacho Pop, and it’s a day the kids will never forget!
With only three days until the kids from EKC hit the Regent Theatre, everyone’s feeling the pressure. The coaching team are gearing up for the kid’s final performance in front of musical theatre heavyweights, John Frost and Kelley Abbey, who are yet to be impressed. With costume fittings, vocal coaching and choreographic changes to be squeezed in to an already tight day, the kids are getting tired and for leading lady Alicia, it’s all too much. With time running out, the kids have got to push through and produce the goods. But will it be good enough to get the thumbs up from John Frost and Kelley Abbey?
