Alexander Prior travels to Shanghai in search of China's most gifted young musicians. With the help of two professors, he meets and auditions four pianists aged 8-12, before selecting one of them to feature in his specially commissioned concerto at the Sage Gateshead with the Northern Sinfonia
A showcase of the world's most remarkable musical prodigies, who will be hand-picked to perform a concerto led by 16-year-old composer Alexander Prior at The Sage Gateshead. Alex finishes his concerto, but receives mixed feedback from his fellow child geniuses. After an intensive week of rehearsals, the young musicians perform the concerto in front of a live audience.
