  • S01E01 Into the Blue

    Looks at the migrations and settlements of man on the islands of the South Pacific, including Fiji, Melanesia, Samoa, the Cook Islands and New Zealand. Considers the structure and customs of the societies, many of which are still maintained.

  • S01E02 From Pole to Pole

    Looks at the mass migrations of human settlers from Asia across Siberia to colonise Alaska, Antarctica and the Americas some 12,000 and 16,000 years ago. Considers their cultures and lifestyle and the conditions they had to survive.

  • S01E03 Between the Ice Sheets

    Documentary looking at the Neanderthals who inhabited Northern Europe during the Ice Age, considering their physique and differences with humans, lifestyle and society. Also considers how they eventually died out.

  • S01E04 Down Under

    Looks at how early man arrived on the continent of Australia some fifty to sixty thousand years ago. /considers their societies and way of life and culture.

  • S01E05 Arts and Minds

    Considers the development of Homo Sapiens and their society, looking at aspects such as hunting, fishing, tool-use and clothing, and also at the emergence of drawing and societal bonding.

  • S01E06 First Steps

    Looks at the early upright-standing and tool-using ape-primates, known as Australopithecus, and the larger brained Homo Erectus, with evidence of their existence found in the Great African Rift Valley, Kenya and Tanzania and South Africa. Considers how these very early ancestors of man developed, evolved and lived in social groups, and their eventual spread...
