In den Ozeanen auf der ganzen Welt leben die größten und auch viele der kleinsten Lebewesen. Der Weiße Hai, Papageienfische oder auch Putzergarnelen bewegen sich mühelos durch die Meere. Ozeane bedecken mehr als 70 Prozent unseres Planeten. Die Vielfalt der Lebewesen in diesen Gewässern ist daher einzigartig. Vom Great Barrier Reef bis zu den unvergleichlichen Galapagosinseln beeindruckt die Tierwelt der Ozeane. Einem Tier hat Hollywood ein ganz übles Image verpasst: dem Weißen Hai, der im gleichnamigen Film als bestialischer Killer dargestellt wird. Ganz unrecht haben Filme wie dieser aber auch nicht, denn der Weiße Hai ist tatsächlich einer der wenigen Haie, die dem Menschen gefährlich werden können. Die Tiere bevorzugen gemäßigte Temperaturen und liegen in sämtlichen Ozeanen in den seichten Gewässern vor den Küsten auf der Lauer. Bekannt für das Vorkommen des Weißen Hais sind Südafrika und die Große Australische Bucht vor der Südküste Australiens. (Text: 3sat)
