Producer, director and occasional actor Cecil James Gilbert was known for Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads, Fawlty Towers, The Fall and Rise of Reginal Perrin, Yes Minister, The Good Life and Last of the Summer Wine. In 1953 he was cast in a BBC series Laxdale Hall, and also appeared in Forbidden Cargo (1954), Scotch on the Rocks (1953) and Police Dog (1955).
