After Nick admits he intends to stay in town until he's certain that Phil has stopped being hurt by their past mistakes, Amy secretly phones the airport to inquire about flights leaving that day. At the hospital, Joe reassures Ruth that they're doing everything possible for Ted, but she worries about possible intracranial bleeding. Amy stops by the hospital to see Ruth, who is puzzled by her sister's behavior. Anne's unexpected visit interrupts Amy's composition of a letter to Linc. Anne notes a finality in Amy's words, as if she were saying goodbye instead of Anne, who plans to return to New York. After Anne leaves, Amy completes a letter to Linc explaining why she has to leave Pine Valley, just as taxi arrives to take her to the airport.
