Ruth holds vigil in the hospital waiting room as Ted undergoes a craniotomy. Linc breaks the news of Amy's departure to Ruth. She denies knowing where Amy might have gone but reassures Linc that Amy loves him. Linc tells her that he's certain Nick was the one who told Philip the secret of his parentage, while Nick rants to Mona that he could kill whoever is responsible. They're interrupted by Erica waiting for Jeff to arrive for their date. Joe updates Phil about Ted's condition and surgery to remove the pressure in his brain and encourages him to try to understand what Ruth is going through. Joe asks Phil who told him about his natural parents, but Phil refuses to answer. Erica introduces Jeff to Nick, who realizes that Erica had been standing outside Mona's open window the night they discussed his being Phil's real father. Mona initially rejects the idea that Erica overheard and told Phil, but the more Nick pieces together all of the recent event
