猫探しの依頼を受けた歩美、光彦、元太は、土日の間に見つけるという依頼主との約束を果たすために奔走していた。コナンと灰原も合流し、猫の痕跡が消えたあたりで話をしていると、そこに高木刑事と千葉刑事が現れる。二人は、昨夜発生した事件の参考人・的井高宏がアリバイの証人として話した「作業着を着るような業種の、背の高い男性」を探していた。夜まで周辺で猫探しをしていた歩美、光彦、元太は捜査に協力しようとするが、そのような男を見た記憶がない。事件の証人となる、幻の大男の正体は？ 事件の被害者・條島史緒里の妹である條島円加に疑いの目を向けられ続ける的井は、コナンと話すうちにアリバイになりそうなことを思い出していくが……。殺害事件が起こった後、タイミングを合わせたように露呈した史緒里の横領。事件は、偶然入った空き巣によるものなのか？
