After fishing, Conan and the Detective Boys are picked up at a fishing dock by Subaru Okiya while the professor is busy. On the way home, they decide to explore an island named Ikkaku Rock and come upon a dead woman's body. Conan deduces, from her wristwatch bearing her name, the woman to be Akamine Hikari, the daughter of the head of a famous company. Conan reveals that Akamine was murdered and reveals that her dying message were the names of the fishes "Mackerel, Carp, Sea Bream, and Flounder" in Kanji. Akamine's diving companions Ohto Rokusuke, Aosato Shuuhei, Kaita Yasuji, arrive on the island and reveal that Akamine went missing on their last diving trip but they thought she was okay due to her message "Take care of the rest".
Les Detective Boys sont allés au large pour une partie de pèche. Subaru vient les chercher à la place du professeur pour les ramener à Tokyo mais, sur le chemin du retour en bateau, ils découvrent le cadavre d'une jeune femme isolé sur un rocher. Le mystérieux étudiant va une fois de plus démontrer ses étonnantes habiletés à la déduction, rivales de celles de Conan.

Durante il viaggio di ritorno, i ragazzi decidono di fermarsi nei pressi del "faraglione dell'unicorno" per scattare una foto ricordo. Qui, Conan rinviene il cadavere di una donna ed i nomi di quattro pesci (maccarello, carpa, dentice, sogliola) scritti da quest'ultima sulla roccia poco prima di morire. Dopo l'arrivo dei soccorsi, giungono sul posto anche i tre amici della vittima. Conan è convinto che fra loro si trovi il colpevole.
