人間も一番美しい時に標本にできればいいのにな――。 ひどく損壊された6人の少年の遺体が発見されると、社会はその事件の異様さに衝撃を受けた。大学の生物学科で蝶の研究をする榊史朗は、蝶の世界を渇望するあまり、息子を含む6人の少年たちを手にかけたと独白する。蝶に魅せられ、禁断の「標本」を作り上げたという男の手記には、理解しがたい欲求が記されていた……。
