Um Lois entgegenzukommen, hat Hal ihr einen Luxus-Katzenbaum gekauft. Doch Lois hat dafür nichts übrig, und das gute Ding wandert auf den Müll. Als der Müllmann sich weigert, den Katzenbaum aufgrund seiner Größe mitzunehmen, kommt es zu einem erbitterten Streit. Zu Deweys Freude steht bald der ganze Vorgarten voller Müll ... Lois hat ihren Job bei Lucky Aide wieder, allerdings erst auf Probe. Es dauert nicht lange, bis Malcolm und seine Mutter sich in die Haare geraten ...
When Hal and the garbageman get into a trash-dumping war (which benefits Dewey more than anyone else), Hal enlists Reese's help. Meanwhile, Lois gets her job back at Lucky Aide (off probation), and fights against Malcolm in order to take down an offensive billboard of a smiling black janitor (whose nametag reads "Slappy") holding a mop and a 6-pack of malt liquor. Soon it's an all-out war between mom and son - until Lois encounters a fellow employee who is more racist than the billboard.

Lois è stata riassunta al Lucky Aide in prova. Viene esposta una sagoma pubblicitaria raffigurante un inserviente nero con delle birre in mano, sagoma che Lois reputa terribilmente razzista.
Malcolm e Lois ficam mal com um anúncio ofensivo publicado na farmácia. Hal discute com um lixeiro, que não quer levar uma grande peça que a família tenta descartar.
Hal recibe toneladas de basura en su jardín después de que él haya molestado al señor de basura, por querer tirar una caja refugiadora de gatos. Craig pone un anuncio de un conserje negro y Lois lo quita porque le parece ofensivo. Dewey tiene el sueño de que va a nevar.
