Captain Futures Vermutung, Zaro befände sich auf dem Planeten Kelbes erweist sich als Irrtum. Jetzt bleibt nur noch der Wasserplanet Styx. Dort angekommen macht Future eine verblüffende Entdeckung: Styx ist tatsächlich ein grüner Planet, der mit Hilfe einer raffinierten Technik als Wasserwüste getarnt wurde. Auch der schwarze Planet ist offenbar nur eine solche Illusion.

Flam, Crag et le guide, toujours à bord de leur mini iceberg, débouchent sur un océan sur lequel ils se font attaquer par un morsicus. Ils rencontrent au même moment un chasseur de morsicus, le vieux Kira, qui leur explique que les hommes singes aux cheveux blancs sont en fait des Targans, des êtres pacifiques qui ont mystérieusement disparu de la planète. Ceux-ci ont le pouvoir de créer des mirages pour se protéger !
