This is a short video of my first kayak fishing solo style. I had gove fishing a lot with the Gheenoe Guy leading up to this, but I just purchased my first NuCanoe Frontier 10 kayak. Maiden voyage of our Nucanoe Frontier 10 at Rattlesnake Island. Special thanks to T-Bone for his videography and commentary.
Where's My Drone? / Drone Crash / Holy Stone H160 Shadow Drone / We're the Roberts We took a trip to our camping property on the "other side" of Florida and we took the inexpensive drone along to "practice". I was able to make it fly, crash, fly, crash... Ultimately it ended up in a tree and I did everything I could to retrieve it but was denied by the tree repeatedly. Were we successful in the end? Watch and see...
We purchased a 42 gallon Barker waste tote for our RV back in August, 2017 and we unfortunately experienced a major leak this past March (2020). We bought a 2nd Barker waste tote because we believed we could modify the tank and prevent a future leak in the new tote. This video explains the modification process and tells a little bit of the story of the leak. Thanks for watching!!!
Kelshaw got a new drone and asked me (Kevin) if I wanted to go with him for its maiden flight. Of course I did! We had a blast that day trying to figure out what we were doing. He got the EXO X7 Ranger drone which is somewhat an entry level (mildly advanced) drone with most of the features of the DJI Mavic Mini. It was surprisingly simple to fly and operate. I would say definitely a good purchase for fun and the video quality is also pretty good. Great buy, Kelshaw! Thanks for taking me along for the trip... It was awesome...
In this video, we took the DJI Mini 2 drone to Marineland, just south of St. Augustine, FL and were able to capture some footage of the dolphins swimming and jumping in the aquatic exhibit. We also got some great footage of the Florida beaches in the area. This DJI Mini2 has proven to be one of the best purchases we’ve made in a long time and we give it two thumbs up. We also made an upgrade to the GoPro 9 Black with the new media mod. We noticed our audio in the truck was overtaken by the engine noise so with the use of this new media mod, we are hoping to cancel out some of the engine. Also, let us know in the comments what drone you have and how you like it as well as if you have any thoughts on the GoPro media mod performance.
Don't Text and Drone We went out flying the DJI Mini 2 today to get a bunch of footage for upcoming videos and when we got home Kevin wanted to get a little more footage of some horses in the field. He didn’t make it very far into the quest before he experienced his first DJI Mini 2 drone crash. Fortunately no damage was sustained to the drone and he ended up getting more footage of the horses. Oh, most of you know by now, this isn’t his first drone crash. He’s becoming experienced at that!!!
We took a short vacation to West Virginia to visit family. This is one of many things we do to entertain ourselves on the 12 hour trip. How long can you hold your breath? Driving through the 8/10ths of a mile tunnel of the West Virginia and Virginia border, you have to do something to make it fun. Then someone driving in front of you slows down! It makes the drive through the dark, cold tunnel even longer... We hope you enjoy the video!
After much thought and planning, we decided to do a little test with Jack (our DJI Mini 2 drone). We've been watching a lot of videos showing the capabilities of this little guy to fly up to and even over a mile in an urban setting. We got all set up at the Hannibal Dam (Ohio River) just across the river from New Martinsville, WV and began our "test flight". Kristi drove one mile south and the plan was to fly the drone 1 mile, then land beside her and the truck all while filming the adventure. Did we make it? Watch and see what happened....
Today the wind was pretty extreme, so I took our DJI Mini 2 Drone that Kristi has nicknamed "Jack" out for a little wind test. The sustained winds at ground level were 15 mph and the gusts were in the 30s, but at height (100-400 feet) the winds were pretty extreme at mid 20s sustained and low to mid 40s gusts. I went to a friend's property where there's a pretty large open field for this quick wind test and put Jack to work. I was using a CPL filter for the first time due to the overcast skies, but I made a mistake when attaching it to the gimbal. I placed it a bit low, so during the video, a dark shadow area can be seen in both upper corners. I hope it's not too distracting to the video and to the test, but I promise I will get better at checking things like that before recording. The area Jack (DJI Mini 2 Drone) was flying during this test is within controlled air space as there is an airport to the south, but be at ease and know that I did obtain FAA LAANC approval.
Visiting family in West Virginia (and after finishing the filming of the One Mile arrange Test video) we were out driving around looking for things to drone and Kristi saw this bridge off in the distance. How she saw it is beyond me but she said, “Pull over!” I pulled over and she told me there was a bridge a ways down the creek (Bull Creek off Route 2) and asked me to get some drone footage of it. This bridge was really a hidden treasure. As I was flying the drone, she noticed a West Virginia State Trooper pull up behind our truck and she spoke with him. He thought we may have been broke down or something and saw our Florida plates and asked if he could help us. Once Kristi told him what we were doing he said there was no problem with this at all and was about as friendly as could be. I landed the drone a few minutes after he pulled up and we carried on a really good conversation for at least 20 minutes. He was actually knowledgeable about drones and the rules.
In this episode, we traveled to St. Augustine, Florida and visited a couple key landmarks of the city to include the St. Augustine Lighthouse and the Bridge of Lions. Both are iconic St. Augustine staples and if you’ve ever visited the town, you know what we are saying. St. Augustine, Florida is the “Nations Oldest City” and the Lighthouse is famous all around the country, as it’s said to the be the most haunted lighthouse in America. It’s been around for over 100 years and the belief is the many people who died in and around the lighthouse have never truly left. They meander around in the darkness doing what they do and many say they have seen and heard evidence of this. Not us though... The St. Augustine Lighthouse’s paranormal activity has been highlighted on the popular TV show Ghost Hunters more than once (2006 and 2008), all of which can be seen on A&E and other streaming providers such as Amazon Prime and Hulu.
Today we conduct a DJI Mini 2 Battery Test Flight and try to fly for 5 miles. How far can the Mini 2 fly on one battery? We took our DJI Mini 2 drone out for a really tough challenge. How far can the DJIMIni2 go on only one battery? Will it make the 5mileflighttest at low altitude or will it #crashandburn with no hope of making the #flight? Kristi’s going to be in #hotpursuit of “Jack” (our mini2 drone) while I put him through his paces and try to fly for over 5 miles on a single battery charge. These little drones are supposed to be able to fly way more than 5 miles, but can he do it on such a windy day? We had steady winds in the high teens and low 20’s, and wind gusts in the 30s and honestly, I wasn’t sure what the outcome was going to be for this test. Not to mention the unexpected amount of traffic on a normally deserted country road.
Have you ever wondered how to find your drone if you lost it? What if it gets lost in the wind or if you have a forced landing from the DJI Fly App? How would you find it? Today, we test the DJI Fly App out and conduct a search and rescue drone test. In this episode, we take Jack (our DJI Mini 2 Drone) out to the soccer and baseball fields to do a little test / demonstration. We've never used the "Find My Drone" feature of the DJI Fly App but from what we've seen and heard, it's pretty simple to use. As long as you're not freaked out because you just lost your drone. Please note that prior to arriving at the ball fields I obtained LAANC clearance to fly as this area is within controlled air space with a ceiling of 400 feet.
Can the DJI Mini 2 drone start up from over half a mile away from the controller? In this episode, we take Jack (DJI Mini 2 drone) to Tater Farms in Hastings, Florida for yet another “test”. We wanted to know if Jack could start his engines if the controller was over half a mile away. This can be classified maybe as a “Start Up Range Test”. Depending on if Jack was able to start up, we then wanted to try to change the home point from the same distance away. What do you think the results were? We want to thank Chris Cook (YouTube Creator) who shared the idea of changing the home point from so far away and he created a video demonstrating the results (see link below). Watching his video started our wheels turning and he was gracious enough to give us his blessing on creating our take on his idea. Thanks, Chris!!!
Every wonder about the DJI Mini 2 return to home top speed? Does the mode matter? Let's find out in this video which return to home mode has the top speed (Cine vs Normal vs Sport). You'll be shocked at this result of this flight test. We took Jack (our Mini 2 drone) out to the ball park and did a Mini 2 Return to Home Top Speed Challenge for each flight mode. We pitted the modes against each other (Cine vs Normal vs Sport) to see which one was the fastest. We flew Jack out 600 feet at an altitude of around 100 feet and clicked "Return To Home". We were amazed at the result and we think you will be, too.
Why does my iPhone screen dim when I'm flying the DJI Mini 2? Here's a method to help keep your phone cool while flying. DJI has updated the DJI Fly App repeatedly in the last few months and one feature they removed for iOS users is the option to turn OFF the phone charge feature. Now, the iPhone will constantly charge while connected to the DJI Fly App and this creates a real heat issue. The iPhone is already extremely busy during a flight and the constant charging seems to create an unreal amount of heat. iPhone has a built in safety feature so when the phone gets too hot, the screen will dim and may even go black. This creates a huge safety issue when flying a drone and we've experienced this numerous times during flights in the recent weeks. We think there's a way to help keep your iPhone cooler during a flight and that's what this video is about.
Did you know the DJI Mini 2 has a secret launch trick? Have you ever wanted to learn how to hand launch and land the DJI Mini 2 drone? Or as Kristi says, “Catch and Release.” In this episode, we are going to demonstrate our techniques and also show you a secret launch trick (hidden feature) that not everyone knows about. Who needs a landing pad? Not us!!! There are several methods out there to hand launch and land the DJI Mini 2 drone, but you have to decide which method works best for you and what you feel most comfortable using. We are also going to share a hidden feature of the DJI Mini 2 regarding a secret launch trick. This secret launch trick isn’t as widely known to beginner drone operators, but it’s very simple and easy for anyone to do. This hidden feature will definitely come in handy in several different scenarios and may also save you some time when you want to hand launch your drone quickly to capture some footage right away.
Have you ever wondered what the top speed for the DJI Mini 2 drone is? Well, in this video, we do a DJI Mini 2 speed test including altitude speed, distance speed and a return to home demo. A few videos ago, we did a return to home demo with the DJI Mini 2 drone, but we quickly learned we made some mistakes that resulted in some pretty inaccurate numbers and information. So, in this video, we wanted to readdress the return to home demo and function of the DJI Mini 2 drone but we also wanted to demonstrate the top altitude speed and distance speed of the Mini 2. This Mini 2 speed test may surprise you with how fast this little drone really is. We hope you enjoy the video and let us know in the comments if you’ve tried this DJI Mini 2 speed test before with different results. We’d love to hear about it.
Have you used the DJI Mini 2 return to home feature yet? Did you know there are 3 different modes to the DJI Mini 2 return to home feature? There are and in this video we review and demonstrate all 3 modes along with letting you in on the 20 meter secret regarding the return to home feature. This week we are in Des Moines, Iowa visiting family and we’ve had a great time catching up. Today, we wanted to get out and do a little test with Jack (our DJI Mini 2 drone). We are heading to Saylorville Lake to test the Return to Home feature but today we’re going to do something a little different than we have in the past. Did you know the DJI Mini 2 has 3 different modes to the return to home feature? Watch as we demonstrate each of the 3 modes (Smart RTH, Failsafe RTH and Low Battery RTH) and stick around for the “20 meter secret”.
Our DJI Mini 2 return to home problem solved? For some reason, our DJI Mini 2 drone returns home sideways. When we hit the return to home button, Jack (our DJI Mini 2 Drone) turns 90 degrees and flies home sideways instead of coming home facing the home point. We’ve been baffled about this ever since we hit the return to home button the first time several months ago. We posed the question to you guys last week and asked if anyone had the same problem and if you were ever able to have the problem solved. We received a couple comments informing us that an IMU calibration may help correct the orientation of the drone on the return home flight. We did some research and found out what the IMU actually is. IMU means inertial measurement unit and what it does is it uses gyroscopes, accelerometers and magnetometers within the unit to detect changes in rotational attributes like pitch, roll and yaw as well as acceleration. I’m not sure what any of that really means.
We think we may have found the perfect drone case for our DJI Mini 2! You may be surprised how inexpensive the Apache weatherproof hard case is at Harbor Freight. You can convert an Apache hard case and make this your perfect drone case in a matter of minutes. The perforated foam makes it really simple to customize the case to fit your drone and all the accessories you need to take with you on your outing. We chose the Apache 4800 series hard case which was much less expensive than the drone specific cases for sale online (Nanuk, Pelican, Go Professional, CasePro, etc) and are so simple to customize for exactly what you’re looking for. We originally had 2 Apache 2800 series cases which housed some of our drone equipment and some of our GoPro accessories but we outgrew them really fast. We were able to upgrade to this drone case and now we can fit all of our accessories in one case.
Welcome to a follow up video from a couple weeks ago regarding the DJI Mini 2 return to home problem revisited. We want to figure out why our DJI Mini 2 drone flies sideways when return to home is activated. Does the drone orientation affect the return to home flight? Well, in this video, we find that out. We went to a park with Jack (our DJI Mini 2) and sent him out on several flights. We then moved the drone orientation to different points (i.e. 9 o’clock, 12 o’clock, 3 o’clock and so on) and hit return to home. Although we may not have discovered an answer as to why our DJI Mini 2 flies back sideways, we did get some real results that could help explain a lot.
Can the DJI Mini 2 launch and land on an angle? Ever wonder if the DJI Mini 2 drone can land on a pitched roof and re launch? Ever wonder if the IMU attitude error would prevent the Mini 2 from being able to land and launch at an angle? Most importantly, have you ever wondered where you can view some amazing covered bridge cinematic footage from a drone’s perspective? Well, if you want the answer to all of these questions, you’ve come to the right channel. Today we answer a question from a viewer known as Winger who asked if the DJI Mini 2 can land on a roof and re launch, or would the IMU Attitude Error prevent the re launch. You WILL be surprised by the results of this drone test and you may wind up asking yourself, “Where has this channel been all my life?” Not to worry! You’re here now, so sit back, watch and enjoy the adventure.
In this video we do a DJI Mini 2 quick shots wind test because we had a quick developing Tropical Storm come our way over the weekend. How does the DJI Mini 2 drone handle the wind test? Is the Mini 2 able to make the quick shots happen in the Tropical Storm conditions? Ever since we bought the DJI Mini 2 (Jack), we’ve wanted to make a video about the quick shots and what better time than when a tropical storm is blowing through? And who doesn’t love a good wind test? We figured it was the perfect time to combine the two and show what the DJI Mini 2 is really capable of.
Is our DJI Mini 2 return to home problem fixed? For Real? We legitimately solved our Mini 2 return to home problem and another problem we had with one simple fix! Ever since unboxing our DJI Mini 2 drone, when we used the return to home feature, our Mini 2 would turn 90 degrees and return to home sideways. More recently we also noticed the Mini 2 Controller icon on the DJI Fly App map was displaying the controller facing the wrong direction. Now this could become a huge problem because knowing your controller’s orientation to the drone is crucial in maintaining VLOS (visual line of sight) as required by FAA regulations.
Is our Mini 2 Lost? How can you fly without a compass? How can you fly without the DJI Fly App? Why would we even chance our Mini 2 drone being lost? Because we are unprofessionals! Today we took Jack, our DJI Mini 2 drone, to the beach and did something because curiosity got the best of us. We deleted the compass from the iPhone 11 we use to fly the drone. We then took a flight over water to see if the Mini 2 would return to home or if he would end up lost forever. This was probably again not our wisest decision but I think by now you guys know we are not the best decision makers on the planet. Did Jack come back? Are you in suspense yet?
Have you ever tried a DJI Mini 2 one mile night flight? Ever asked yourself, “Will it land 1 mile away?” We did and we have a result in this video!!! We took Jack (DJI Mini 2) to the beach and ran him through the ringer. It was pitch black dark, we put a strobe light on his back leg and set him off on this latest adventure. Ever since we did the first One Mile Flight Test earlier this year at the Hannibal Dam in West Virginia, we wanted to try it again because we weren’t able to get Jack to land 1 mile away from home. We figured the best place to try this kind of test was at the beach at night with strong winds and poor visibility. So, did Jack land 1 mile away during this one mile night flight? Click on the video to find out.
Well, 2021 is over so it's time to give a DJI Mini 2 long term review. This isn't going to be a Mini 2 review only video, though. We've had a lot of fun this year with our channel and have met some really great people along the way. We wanted to a year in review of our channel, but we wanted to do a little more than that. The DJI Mini 2 really changed the direction of our channel in 2021 and we really think Jack has earned a Mini 2 long term review. We've decided to break this video up into 4 parts: 1. Which video was each of our favorites for the year? 2. Which video was viewed the most in 2021? 3. Would be buy the DJI Mini 2 drone again in 2022? 4. Kristi made a compilation video of our favorite parts of each video throughout the year.
Have you ever wondered how to increase your DJI Mini 2 return to home speed with your DJI Mini 2? Well today that’s what we are going to try. The DJI Mini 2 manual says the return to home speed is fixed around 23.8 mph for any mode (cine, normal, sport), but today we are going to increase return to home speed and prove the DJI Mini 2 manual wrong. You may actually be able to increase return to home speed in any DJI drone with this technique so if you have another DJI drone other than the Mini 2, please test this out and let us know in the comments what your result is.
Have you ever wondered if there is a DJI Mini 2 speed limit? Or if speeds can be restricted? Well, we found something in the DJI Manual that surprised us and we learned there is in fact a speed limit on the Mini 2 in both the Cine and Normal Modes under certain conditions. Speed limit and speed restrictions are brought into play when the gimbal is in a certain position. Surprised? Us, too! But what’s even more surprising is that we discovered this by reading the DJI Manual! The DJI Manual reads that when in Cine and Normal Modes, the Mini 2 top speed is restricted when the gimbal is facing down between 80 and 90 degrees. We tried this out and to our amazement, the speed was reduced quite significantly
Have you been searching for DJI Mini 2 accessories you will use? Well, today, we demonstrate one of those accessories you will use. We found a remote air drop system for the DJI Mini 2 and today, we are going to use this to determine the 1k subscribers giveaway winner! A while ago, one of our viewers, Paul Campbell, mentioned he had a remote air drop system for his DJI Mini 2 and it was a lot of fun. I immediately thought to myself, “Now that’s one of many Mini 2 accessories you will use.” This thing has endless possibilities, so we purchased one from Amazon. We bought the Hanatora Payload Air Drop Release Dropper Device (say that 3 times fast) that’s specifically made for the DJI Mini 2, Mavic Mini and Mini SE drones. We will be doing a review video on this dropper device in the near future but today’s focus is on determining a winner for the 1k Subscribers Giveaway!!!
Were you fortunate enough to get your first drone crash Mini 2 on film? Well, I was, but that’s not really what this video is about. Well, it’s about my first drone crash but it wasn’t with a Mini 2. My first drone crash was with a Holy Stone 160 Shadow drone. My first Mini 2 drone crash wasn’t this spectacular but we did post that video earlier last year. If you’d like to check it out, we put a link below the description. This is a video we posted back in 2020 and it was way before we were versed in drones whatsoever. We were so new to drones we actually thought a $40 drone from Amazon was going to be something we could get video footage with but wow, we were totally wrong. To this day, I have never even been able to have this drone hover, let alone fly in a manner that would be considered controlled. The Holy Stone 160 Shadow drone is not a drone we would recommend under any circumstances. Well, maybe it would be ok if you wanted to fly it and get some good drone crash.
If you’re looking for tips to fly your mini 2 safely, you’ve come to the right channel. Today we are going to give you at least 5 tips to fly your Mini 2 safely and hopefully help you know for sure your drone will return home every time without fail. These simple tips to fly your Mini 2 safely could save your drone. We are in no way experts (we are actually “Unprofessionals”), but since we’ve been fortunate enough to have Jack (DJI Mini 2) come into our lives, we have learned a lot of different things to implement to fly the Mini 2 safely and legally. When we first started flying, we didn’t know anything about drones or the legal requirements in the United States. We’ve had our fair share of crashes and even a fly away but if you implement these 5 tips to fly your mini 2 safely, hopefully you can avoid the dread and unnecessary adrenaline rushes we’ve experienced in the past.
Did you know about the DJI Mini 2 return to home restrictions? We’ve done several mini 2 return to home tests in the past and learned several things. We’ve learned the DJI Mini 2 return to home restrictions include the top speed in any mode (Cine, Normal, Sport) to be limited to 23.8 mph. We have also tested several other restrictions of the DJI Mini 2 not to do with the return to home feature. We learned recently that the DJI Mini 2 speed has a restriction when simply flying in the Cine and Normal modes if the gimbal is facing down between 80 and 90 degrees. Well, today we wanted to test the DJI Mini 2 and find out if the gimbal orientation could possibly reveal a restriction on the return to home feature. What do you think is going to happen?
Have you ever tried to fly a Mini 2 in the snow? We were in West Virginia visiting family again this month and there was a snow storm that came through giving us the perfect opportunity to fly a Mini 2 in the snow. It was a brief snow storm and the snow melted away before noon, but it was a heavy snow. We definitely don’t think it’s a good idea to fly a Mini 2 in the snow, but who could turn away a chance like this? We’ve only flown in cold weather once in the past but the snow had already fallen and Jack (our DJI Mini 2 drone) has never felt snow or rain on his props. Well, today, that’s changed and he’s an experienced snow drone.
Have you installed the new DJI Mini 2 firmware update 01.04.0000? We did and then we flew 1 mile to see if there was any problems. The new Mini 2 firmware update has had a lot of bad reviews lately so we wanted to prove to ourselves, and to you, whether it was a good Mini 2 firmware update or not. We were able to acquire a 2nd DJI Mini 2 drone to keep Jack company and Kristi has proudly named her Rose. (Yes, Jack and Rose from the Titanic)
Have you updated to the newest DJI Mini 2 Firmware update (1.04.0000)? We did a few weeks then we flew 1 mile over an open area to see if the new Mini 2 firmware update worked properly or if there was something seriously wrong. We received several comments on that video letting us know the new Mini 2 firmware update demonstrated several issues more so in an urban setting than anywhere else. Some people even said their Mini 2 was destroyed by the new Mini 2 firmware update. We decided to redo the new DJI Mini 2 Firmware Update test but this time, we flew in an urban setting where the interference from wifi and other signals was obvious. Follow us along on these flights as we pit Jack and Rose against each other to see who can fly the furthest. Our original DJI Mini 2 (Jack) operates on the 1.03.0000 firmware while our newest DJI Mini 2 (Rose) received the new DJI Mini 2 firmware update (1.04.0000).
Ever asked the question, "Should you fly a drone from inside a car?" More specific, should you fly a DJI Mini 2 drone from inside a car? We fly a drone from inside a car pretty much every time we fly and have yet to have any major issues that we could identify. I'm not sure if you guys have figured out our M.O. or not, but we like to play off previous videos and this week is no exception. In our last video, we did a comparison flight between the 2 latest DJI Mini 2 firmware updates (01.03.0000 vs 01.04.0000) and both flights took place from inside a car. Unfortunately, both test flights were horrible and both drones (Jack and Rose) nearly crashed. We received at least 20 comments from viewers letting us know the reason our demos went so poorly was simply because we flew our drone from inside a car.
It's time for another DJI Mini 2 return to home test and this time we are going to have a duel. We have done a lot of different return to home tests with our DJI Mini 2 drone (Jack) in the past, but this has to be our favorite one so far. Today, we pit our 2 DJI Mini 2 drones (Jack and Rose) against each other in a Mini 2 duel. We decided it was time to have each drone fly the same path out and see which drone was able to get closer to the home point on the return to home flight. Which drone do you think was able to get closest to the home point? Was it Jack who's still working with the DJI firmware update 01.03.0000 or was it Rose who's working with the most current DJI firmware update 01.04.0000?
We've heard rumors lately that the DJI Mini 2 range problems have resurfaced and the Mini 2 is no longer worth its weight since the release of the DJI Mini 3 Pro. We've had our DJI Mini 2 for a couple years now and have never experienced any Mini 2 range problems, regardless of the Fly App version or Firmware version we've used. Several people have claimed the Mini 2 is being throttled or limited in its range and signal strength and they believe it's due to DJI trying to force customers into purchasing the recently released Mini 3 Pro. Our DJI Mini 2 drones (Jack and Rose) have been somewhat dormant lately in our absence, but today that's gonna change! Come along as we take Jack to one of our favorite spots to fly and we test to see if we experience any of these so called Mini 2 range problems.
Have you ever tried the Mini 2 Quick Shots from a distance? We've all tried the quick shots up close, but today, I wanted to try and see if they work from almost half a mile away. We wanted to fly Jack (our DJI Mini 2 drone) around a special landmark, but when we arrived last time, we were informed they do not allow drones to launch or land from the property (to find out what landmark I'm referring to, you must watch the video). I started thinking, "Well, it's a drone, so maybe we could fly to it from somewhere else." That's exactly what we decided to do for today's video. Kristi and Rose are on strike, so it was on Jack and my shoulders today to fly the Mini 2 quick shots mission. We didn't realize how far away the "landmark" was until we arrived at the launch site. Once we showed up, I realized it was a half a mile away!
If you've followed our channel at all for the last year or so, you are aware of our DJI Mini 2 return to home failure we've experienced repeatedly. Jack, our DJI Mini 2 drone, only turns 90 degrees when the return to home function is activated. We've tried solution after solution for this return to home failure and sort of experienced some success at one point, but the problem has resurfaced, and we find ourselves back at the drawing board. We recently received a comment from a subscriber, GROSSi46, who said he is from the UK and he recently installed the FCC hack in his DJI Mini 2 drone. GROSSI46 said he's since been experiencing the same Mini 2 return to home failure with which we've been plagued. Another viewer, Shryco88H, responded to the comment saying he may have a solution.
Do you own a DJI Mini 2 drone? Are you one of those lazy people? If you find yourself in one or both of these categories, you'll want to watch this Mini 2 Launch Trick created for lazy people. I was watching YouTube the other day and saw a guy launch his drone while he sat inside his car. He never even had to get out of his car because he had a sunroof! It was awesome seeing him put his Mini 2 on the roof of the car and launch without even having to step outside. I thought to myself, "Now that's a mini 2 launch trick for lazy people," and I wanted to be part of that group. Only problem is, we don't have a sunroof in either of our vehicles.
It's time for another DJI Mini 2 update video. Today we explore the DJI Fly App update and we pit updates 1.4.8 and 1.8.0 against each other. Today we are simply testing the signal strength as that seems to be the part most people are interested in so stick around and see how this DJI Mini 2 update video ends. Which DJI Flyl App update is going to win? Watch and see.
Today we share a tip in a segment we are calling DJI Mini 2 For Beginners. We want to share a fool proof way to find your destination every time without fail. You'll be surprised how simple this mini 2 tip for beginners is. It's so easy, even this unprofessional (Kevin) was able to use it. Mini 2 for beginners could become a monthly segment but we need help with some ideas on how to make it happen . So, please feel free to leave a comment with a DJI Miin 2 tip for beginners and maybe your tip will be featured in a future video. A couple weeks ago, we traveled to the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Florida to demonstrate a Mini 2 launch trick for lazy people. After the launch we wanted to find the infamous PGA Sawgrass Island 17th hole replica located within the World Golf Village. The only problem was, once I launched Jack (our DJI Mini 2 drone), I became disoriented on the map and couldn't figure out which direction to fly.
A long time ago, we released a video showing how to increase your DJI MIni 2 return to home speed. The Mini 2 return to home speed increase test revealed that if your DJI Mini 2 drone is in sport mode when the return to home function is activated, the pilot can increase the drone's speed by simply pushing forward on the right control stick. By implementing this increase speed method, we were able to increase the preset return to home speed limit from 23.8 mph to just over 29 mph. We thought that increase in speed was a fantastic result and made the comment that although 5mph in speed isn't that much of an increase, it may just be enough to get the Mini 2 out of a dangerous situation on the return to home flight.
How many DJI Mini 2 hidden features have you found? We sort of "found" a Mini 2 hidden flight mode! Well, maybe it's not hidden and maybe it's not really a flight mode, but close enough. A few weeks ago, when we posted a video showing me (Kevin) launch Jack (our DJI Mini 2 drone) from the front seat of our truck (F350 dually), I was really concerned Jack would lift off and keep rising until he hit the ceiling causing total chaos and devastation inside the truck. See, on the bottom of the DJI Mini 2 drone, there are a couple sensors strategically placed to detect the ground and when the "auto launch" feature in activated, the drone will rise up automatically to a height of around 3 to 4 feet above the ground and hover. Seeing as there isn't 3 or 4 feet distance between the seat and the ceiling, you understand my concern and hesitation to even try the test. Anyway, we received a comment informing us if we had placed a piece of black tape across the sensors.
It's time for another DJI Mini 2 Fly App update comparison test. DJI has recently come out with the newest Fly App update version 1.9.0. Today, we are going to compare the Fly App 1.4.8 with the Fly App update 1.9.0 and see which update has the better signal strength. There are a lot of different things to compare when comparing older updates to newer updates, but my favorite thing to compare has to be the signal strength. It's what separates the men from the boys and in this case the good updates from the bad updates. Stick around and watch the video today. You may be surprised with the outcome. Hmmmmm
Have you tried to increase your DJI Mini 2 Return to Home Speed lately? A long time ago, we released a video demonstrating how to increase the DJI Mini 2 return to home speed while in Sport mode. Well, we’ve recently released another video related to increasing the Mini 2 return to home speed and now we are releasing a third video related to increasing the Mini 2 return to home speed. Nobbygreen initially told us last year that a pilot can increase the DJI Mini 2 return to home speed, but he recently let me know the DJI Mini 3 Pro does not have the capability. I was not shocked to learn of yet another thing the Mini 2 could do that the Mini 3 couldn’t do. Nobby will understand that comedy reference. Nobby made mention that DJI may have removed the capability of increasing the return to home speed during a recent Fly App or Firmware update.
Have you installed the DJI Mini 2 firmware update 01.06.0000 yet? Well, this new Mini 2 firmware update may not be what you're looking for so you may want to hold off on installing it right away. As usual, we're a little late to the party on this update. We weren't aware of the new update until we released our latest video pitting our 2 Mini 2 drones against each other (Jack and Rose) claiming Rose was on the most recent firmware update (01-04-0000). Little did we know we were wrong and DJI had just released a new Mini 2 firmware update (01.06.0000). We watched several videos about this new Mini 2 firmware update and honestly, neither of us were too impressed with the update's performance. Several people had complained about signal issues and some even said their drones were unusable after the install. Needless to say, we were a bit nervous about installing the new firmware update, but we wanted to test it out.
Do you have a DJI Mini 2 battery that's older than another one in your fleet? Has that DJI Mini 2 battery been charged more times than the newer one? Ever wonder if the number of times the DJI Mini 2 battery has been charged affects its flight time? We did, too!!! Today we chose two DJI Mini 2 batteries from our fleet to see which would last longer. DJI Mini 2 battery #2 has been charged 27 times in its life and Mini 2 battery #6 has only been charged 6 times. We wondered which would last the longest, so we decided to go out to the good old retention pond and do a DJI Mini 2 battery comparison test. We wanted to do a real-world type test for flight time, so we only timed the DJI Mini 2 flights starting at 95% and we depleted the batteries down to 20%. Which DJI Mini 2 battery won? Watch along and see. You may be surprised.
DJI has loaded us up this time with 2 Mini 2 Firmware Updates plus the Fly App 1.9.1 Update. Today we installed all 3 updates and took a flight test (or 2) to see if DJI was able to match or improve on the older versions. Aircraft Firmware - 01.06.0200 RC Firmware - 04.11.0200 Fly App Version - 1.9.1 Can DJI improve the Mini 2 Firmware updates to better the older ones? I think DJI has a lot of work to do to improve on the Mini 2 Firmware 01.03.0000 and the Fly App version 1.4.8. We've been using this older combination for over a year and have really enjoyed how they perform together. Stick around and see if DJI has done it again or if these Mini 2 firmware updates are a HUGE FAIL.
Have you ever tried to update the location on the DJI Mini 2 return to home function during a flight? We did, but there's more to today's video than just changing the home point during a Mini 2 return to home flight. We received a comment on a previous video from Fer Drone Media asking what would happen if during a Mini 2 return to home flight the home point was updated to the controller's location and I walked away with the controller from that spot. Would the Mini 2 return to home or would the Mini 2 follow the controller? Stick around and see what happens. As always, we want to thank you all for watching and for the awesome comments. We really appreciate your support and advice and as all of you know, we can use as much advice as we can get. We hope you have a great week and God bless!
Have you experienced any DJI Mini 2 display problems on your iPhone? Ever since our DJI Mini 2 drone was new, we've had pixilation issues on the display screen and have yet to figure out what the cause is and until recently we had no idea how to fix the Mini 2 display problem. Today we are going to take Jack (our DJI Mini 2 drone) out for a test flight and see if we can get the pixilation issues to show themselves and if they do, we will demonstrate our solution to rid the Mini 2 of the display problem so the video is as clear as it should be. Keep your fingers crossed the pixilation issues show up...
It's time for another DJI Mini 2 return home test. Today, Kevin pits himself against the robot in an epic Auto vs Manual Mini 2 return home test. We've done a lot of Mini 2 return home tests in the past, but never have we tried something like this. Here's the set up: We flew Jack (Mini 2 drone) until his battery read 20% and the auto Mini 2 return home kicked in. Whatever the battery level was when Jack landed after the return home flight was the percentage Kevin had to beat on his manual return home flight. Stick around for this nail biter and see who won, Kevin or the robot.
DJI surprised us with another Mini 2 update this week. Ok, maybe not just a Mini 2 update, but an update nonetheless. Introducing DJI Fly App 1.9.4 update. This really is a DJI Mini 2 update, just not for the original DJI Mini 2 drone. DJI will apparently be launching a new DJI Mini 2 SE drone in the near future and primarily that was what this Fly App update was geared for. Of course they also "improved overall quality" of the Fly app, whatever that means.
Well it's time for another DJI Mini 2 speed test and this one is a head scratcher. We received a comment saying if we tilted the Mini 2 gimbal down to 15 degrees, the Mini 2 speed would possibly increase. We'd never heard of this before so we thought it would make an awesome Mini 2 speed test. We want to especially thank William Hoyle for leaving the comment informing us of this possibility. William said he hadn't tried this out yet, but now he doesn't have to because we are going to do it for him. Watch along as we perform this DJI Mini 2 speed test and find out if it will really work or if it's just a rumor. FYI, this information is nowhere to be found in the DJI Mini 2 manual, but there've been a whole lot of things not mentioned in the manual that work when we've tried them in the past.
DJI has released a new DJI Mini 2 update, DJI Fly App 1.9.5. In this video, we go for a test flight after installing the Mini 2 update and put the Fly App 1.9.5 version through its paces. DJI was really vague in the description of what was updated or changed in this Fly App 1.9.5 version which is typical for them nowadays. If you've been able to figure out what was changed or updated in this version, please let us know in the comments.
Why does my drone drift? Our DJI Mini 2 has been drifting to the right for several weeks now and on our last video, we received a comment giving us a potential solution. We received a comment from Waynorth Drones telling us we should try to recalibrate the IMU to help solve the drone drifting problem we've been having lately. That's what this week's video is all about. Follow along and see if we were able to solve yet another problem that arose during our drone tests. Maybe this will answer the question of why does my drone drift?
I have to admit the DroneMask 2 could be the best drone accessory I've ever used with the DJI Mini 2 drone. Do you think I made it through the tree without a catastrophic failure? Watch and see... Several weeks ago we were the fortunate recipients of a DroneMask 2 from our good friend, Nobbygreen. Ironically, shortly after we received the DroneMask 2 in the mail, DroneMask contacted us and asked if we'd be interested in reviewing the DroneMask 2, quite possibly the best drone accessory ever made. We thought for a second or two and accepted the offer.
Ready to see how one DJI Mini 2 update does against another DJI Mini 2 update? Today we are going to see which Fly App update is better for an older DJI Mini 2 firmware update, 01.03.0000. Will Fly App 1.9.5 beat 1.4.8 or will the old standby 1.4.8 be the victor? We have 2 DJI Mini 2 drones and they have really done a great job for us in what we do and how we fly. Rose is the Mini 2 drone we always keep updated with the most recent firmware and we also use the most recent DJI Fly App update as we believe they should be the most compatible. Jack is our other DJI Mini 2 drone and we've been running him on an older firmware, 01.03.0000 along with a virtually antique Fly App update, 1.4.8. That combination has seemed like the perfect match and we've yet to find any update combination that performs better. Lately we've been noticing Jack's screen display on the iPhone 11 has been glitching and although it's usually brief, it seems to be happening more often.
Well, we all knew one day I would have to tackle a DJI Mini 2 repair and today is the day. We were out flying our DJI MIni 2 drone with a DroneMask 2 the other day and surprisingly I crashed! Yea, yea, I know it's not really a surprise but it happened. I was trying to fly through a tree and misjudged the distance between Rose (our DJI Mini 2 drone) and the tree. Rose struck the tree and down she went. We initially thought the Mini 2 was not damaged and we continued to fly with no problems, but as I was tucking Rose away in her case after the long day, I realized her back leg was damaged and was in need of repair. I was able to fold her leg in, but for some reason I couldn't open it back up and I heard a pretty loud click. Yikes!!!!!
Ok, well DJI surprised us again with another Fly App Update 1.9.8 version. Today is the day to take Rose (DJI MIni 2 drone) out for a flight and test this new Fly App update. I know it's not for the DJI Mini 2 specifically, but you'd be surprised what they listed in the update notes for us DJI Mini 2 users.
DJI is really making us work this week to keep up with the MIni 2 updates. In today's video, we are going to be installing both the DJI Fly App 1.9.9 update as well as the newest DJI Mini 2 Firmware update 01.07.0200. Some people have reported major issues with this new firmware MIni 2 update and it's so bad at times they can't use the Return to Home function. I hope that doesn't happen to us today when we send Rose (our DJI Mini 2 drone) up in the air. I will give you a hint though... Something bad did happen during this flight so make sure to stick around for the whole video.
Does flying while sitting inside a car cause any DJI Mini 2 signal strength problems? We've tackled this question in the past but lately we've had a lot of comments asking why we fly while sitting in the truck. We've been flying while sitting inside the truck for a long time now and have yet to have any specific Mini 2 signal strength problems as a result. Most of our problems come from user error and spaz moments. Well, in today's video we are going to address this topic again simply because of the amount of questions we've recently received. Follow along as we test this out again and hopefully have the same result as before. My prediction is that there will be no interference, but we all know my predictions are often incorrect and the Mini 2 suffers the consequences of my actions.
Every wondered if your drone's height affect signal strength? Yep, we did too so we made a video about it. We love to make videos based on viewer comments, and this week is a great example of questions or video ideas we receive from our faithful viewers. So, stick around and watch as we test our DJI Mini 2 (Jack) and see if his height affect signal strength.
DJI has done it again. They've released a new DJI Fly App Update 1.10.1. Last update video we did, we had a pretty major problem with some interference and we crashed Rose (our DJI Mini 2 drone). Well, based on a comment we received, we decided to return to the scene of the crash to demonstrate this new DJI Fly App Update. I'm pretty sure this will be considered a DJI Mini 2 update based on what is in the release notes but I'll let you be the judge of that.
Here's a DJI Mini 2 safety feature I would be willing to bet you've never even considered. It relates to quick shots and the height limit setting in the safety tab of the DJI Fly App. My bet is you've never really wondered if your quick shot would ever be interrupted if you accidentally lowered your max height setting and set the quick shot height above that mark. Well, that's exactly what we are testing today. You may be surprised at the results of this test but then again, you may not be. I guess it depends on whether you've read through this description or if you've ignored all these words we've worked so diligently on to make sense. In any case, I'm pretty sure this will be an entertaining video and if you like the content, please consider subscribing and clicking the like button. Sometimes, the DJI Fly App discovers you may be attempting to fly your DJI MIni 2 drone in a controlled air space even though you believed you were in uncontrolled air space.
Have you ever wondered what would happen if you accidentally installed your drone propeller reversed or backwards? Anyone could make that mistake and unintentionally put the wrong propeller on the arm of their DJI Mini 2 drone. Well today, that's what we are going to test. We are going to put the wrong propeller on Rose's (our DJI Mini 2 drone) right front arm and see what happens. These drone propellers are specially marked with indicators to show which propeller goes on which arm, but if you don't know what you're looking for, it's easy to overlook and make this mistake.
Have you been experiencing frequency problems with the new DJI Mini 2 update, DJI Fly App 1.10.1? Well, we have but then we realized it may not be only the new DJI Fly App 1.10.1 version that is having problems. Today we decided to take both drones out and test the frequencies of each because recently we experienced a pretty bad crash while using DJI Fly App 1.10.1 update version with our DJI Mini 2 named Rose. We have a second DJI Mini 2 drone (Jack) that we stopped updating months ago and we fly him with the DJI Fly App 1.4.8 update version. We wanted to take both drones out and test each DJI Fly App update and try to duplicate the problem we experienced with Rose a few weeks ago. Follow along and please let us know in the comments if you've had similar problems or if you've experienced nothing but smooth sailing with these Mini 2 updates.
What would happen if you managed to screw up and your Mini 2 drone propeller reversed? We tried reversing one drone propeller in a previous video, but what if all propellers were reversed? Would chaos ensue or would it actually fly? Well today, we are going to find out exactly what would happen. We've tried some dumb things in the past with our DJI Mini 2 drones, but this may take the cake. Reversing your drone propellers could result in some pretty dangerous situations, or could it? Watch along and find out what happens.
Ever wonder why the DJI Mini 2 Sport Mode sucks so much battery? Or how much battery life the Mini 2 Sport Mode sucks? Well, we may not be able to answer the why but we can answer the "how much" part of that question. We took Jack (our DJI Mini 2 Drone) out for a flight this week and compared Normal and Sport modes to find out how much quicker that battery would deplete in Sport Mode. We flew the drone on 2 flights and tried our best to keep the speed maxed throughout the whole flight to get a true reading. We may have failed but we got some awesome results. Leave us a comment and let us know if you've ever tried this test comparison before with your DJI Mini 2 drone.
Today I demonstrate 3 DJI Mini 2 safety features that SUCK! Follow along and let us know in the comments if you agree or if you disagree. Oh, there's a surprise DJI Mini 2 safety feature that doesn't SUCK that we've added as well. We hope you enjoy the video and have a great week. God bless!!
Well, DJI finally came out with another Fly App update. The 1.10.4 Fly App update was just released a few days ago and it's time to give it a test. I had planned to fly over some cows for this Fly App update test video, but Jack (out DJI Mini 2 drone) had other ideas. Follow along and see what he did to make us have a really BAD day.
Can you decrease the DJI Mini 2 return to home speed or will it result in catastrophic failure? You be the judge. We received a viewer comment saying he would like to decrease the return to home speed and immediately we thought this would be a great test for Jack (our DJI Mini 2 Drone). We already know we can increase the return to home speed when in sport and normal modes, but this question remains a mystery. That is, until today.
Well, it's time once again for a DJI Mini 2 update regarding the Fly App 1.10.6 version. Apparently there were some issues with the 1.10.4 Fly App Update regarding a limit on max height so let's see if DJI was able to fix the problems with this newest update.
Ever wonder what happens if you lose a propeller midflight with a DJI Mini 2? Here we are using the Mini 2 Updated with the Fly App 1.10.4 and simulate what would happen if a drone propeller fell off while flying. Hold onto your seats, cowboys... This is gonna be a bumpy ride! Today, I took Rose (DJI Mini 2) out for a flight and secretly loosened the screws on her front propellers. I used Mini 2 update with the DJI Fly App 1.10.4 version
This not so secret mini 2 feature can save your drone if you use it right. We released a video a couple weeks ago reviewing 3 DJI Mini 2 safety features that suck but we wanted to end the video on a positive note, so we sort of demonstrated the good old fashioned "Pause Button". This not so secret mini 2 feature could totally save your drone if you use it in the right circumstances. Some comments were posted inquiring as to the validity of this not so secret mini 2 feature so today, we are going to prove how useful the pause button can be.
The DJI Fly App 1.11.0 update is here and it's time to try it. Like always, we want to try this mini 2 update out and share our experiences, whether they be good or bad. This DJI Fly App 1.11.0 update was specifically released to introduce the DJI Air 3 drone, but we all know it's really a Mini 2 update, right? Why else would they mention the "fixed overall app quality" part?
Want to learn how to avoid a tragic DJI Mini 2 drone death? Follow this video and find out what not to rely upon to save your drone. We recently released a video demonstrating how the pause button could potentially save your DJI Mini 2 from crashing and experiencing a tragic death. We received a couple comments asking if simply pulling back on the right controller stick would do the same thing as the pause button. Today we put that to the test and you may be surprised at the results. Yes, the title and thumbnail are a bit dramatic, but wouldn't you like to know the results of this test? Just for informational purposes, I'm pretty sure the results of this test could be applied to any of the DJI drones including the new DJI Air 3. Hmmmmm
What would happen if the DJI Fly App disappeared? Would the DJI Mini 2 drone be history, too? Today we answer that question and even answer a couple more questions nobody asked. Stick around, guys!!! I got to thinking the other day and was wondering what would happen to the DJI Mini 2 drone if the DJI Fly App disappeared. We then received a comment from a viewer asking if we could try to find a third party app that would provide more control to the DJI Mini 2 than the DJI Fly App does. That's a perfect question to handle my question. Does that make any sense at all? I downloaded the Maven App a little over a year ago with high hopes it would be amazing and it would open the doors of the DJI Mini 2 to compete with the Mini 3 Pro. Well, I sort of forgot all about the app and never pursued it. Today, that's all going to change. I take the DJI Mini 2 out and do a couple of simple tests to see if the Maven App would be a good alternative to the DJI Fly App.
Have you ever thought, "Should I change these DJI Fly App settings," but wasn't really sure what would happen? Well I did and you won't believe how it changed our DJI Mini 2 (Jack). Recently we released a couple of videos about the DJI Mini 2 drone's pause button and those videos resulted in some really good comments and questions from our viewers. We are hoping this video will put the "Pause button" dilemma to rest and we can move on to other topics, but who knows? This may just be the beginning of more pause button videos (let's hope not). Anyway, we made some changes to the DJI Fly App settings hoping to be able to "mimic" the actions of the pause button. Stick around and find out if we were successful, or if this whole test ended up a catastrophe.
Why did I delete the latest DJI Fly App Update 1.11.0? Was it a huge mistake or something everyone should do? Follow along and you'll find the answers to both of these questions. A while ago we released a video testing out a 3rd party app called Maven. We asked ourselves, "What would happen if the DJI Fly App disappeared for the DJI Mini 2 drones?" Would we still be able to fly our drones, Jack and Rose? Well, we tested the Maven app and fortunately we discovered it would be a perfect stand in for the DJI Fly App update. Then we started receiving comments and one in particular caught my attention. Randy Morgan asked how we thought the Maven app would work if the DJI Fly App was not involved. See, during the last test video, it seemed as though the Maven app was receiving information from the DJI Fly App regarding height and distance limits. So, that is a great question. Would the Maven app work properly if the DJI Fly App was deleted? Stick around and find out...
Drone launch from a quarter mile away? No way this is going to work. Or is it? Well, a couple years ago, we tested Jack, our DJI Mini 2 drone, and were able to start him up from over a half a mile away from the controller. Although the result of that test was sort of unbelievable, it actually worked. We recently received a comment from a viewer asking if it would be possible to land a quarter mile away from the home point and relaunch the drone from that spot. I have no idea if this will work, but that's what today's test is about. For this test, I walked out away from the home point and "strategically" placed different landing pads at different locations. The goal here is to land on those landing pads and then relaunch the drone from that new location.
Well, DJI has done it once again and provided us with an amazing new Mini 2 update. Well, it's a DJI Fly App update, but it's a Mini 2 update nonetheless, right? I came out here today with all intentions of recording a different video, but DJI had other plans. A couple weeks ago or so, I deleted the DJI Fly App 1.11.0 version so I could fly with the Maven app and tell once and for all if the Maven app is a stand alone app or if it relied on the information stored in the DJI Fly app to operate properly. Anyway, this morning when I tried to reinstall the DJI Fly app in my iPhone 11 (iOS device), I realized there was a new DJI Fly app update available for iOS devices. So, with that said, there's no time like the present to install the Mini 2 update (DJI Fly app 1.11.4 update), and check out how it affects or improves the performance of the DJI Mini 2 drone.
It seems as if the DJI Fly App may have deleted a so called "safety feature" for the DJI Mini 2 drone ,and I kind of like it! Although, it could be a bit dangerous for drones with obstacle avoidance, like the Mini 3 Pro. Almost 2 years ago, we did a video demonstrating this DJI Fly App safety feature proving these drones take off in Normal Mode It didn't matter one iota which selection was made on the toggle switch on the controller or on the DJI Fly App screen, the drone would only take off in Normal mode. Well, things have apparently changed and today we are going to prove it. I never did like this DJI Fly App safety feature. I hope the person who deleted this feature is still employed and didn't do it on his way out. If that's the case, it may come back!!!!
Ok, guys. It's time to decide whether to upgrade to the DJI Mini 4 Pro or stick with the DJI Mini 2 drones we've come to love. Why does this decision have to be so difficult? I recently learned an announcement regarding the DJI Mini 4 Pro drone is in the near future (September 25, 2023) so it's time to make a decision. As always, we have very little information as to the specs of this new drone, but there are tons of speculation and what if scenarios that we don't want to be involved with. So we are posting this video to ask you all for some help in making this difficult decision. There are 3 options we've come up with when it comes to upgrading to the DJI Mini 4 Pro drone from the DJI Mini 2 drone. 1. Rip the band aid off and go all in for the DJI Mini 4 Pro 2. Wait and see what the prices of the DJI Mini 3 Pro do after the release of the DJI Mini 4 Pro 3. Ignore the DJI Mini 4 Pro and stick solely with the Mini 2 drones
Well, I had to come back to Florida early to make this video. DJI "sneaked" in another Fly App Update while I was away so we may be a little late with this Mini 2 update / Fly App update video. DJI has just announced the release of the DJI Mini 4 Pro drone and with that has come this new Fly App update, version 1.12.0. Reading the release notes, I noticed an old familiar line that to me means they've included something special for the DJI Mini 2 update. Have they? Follow along with this video and find out in just a matter of minutes.
Has anyone seen a signal test comparison between the DJI Mini 4 Pro and the Mini 2 yet? I have and this is it!!! You may be surprised by these results, but then again, you may not be. I guess it depends on what you've seriously expected from the DJI Mini 4 Pro or what you already know about the DJI Mini 2. This signal test is one for the books so strap in and enjoy the show. We actually pulled the trigger and bought ourselves a brand new DJI Mini 4 Pro drone. Now, don't get too excited and upset... We aren't ditching Jack and Rose (our DJI Mini 2 drones), we've just added a new kid to the crew. Watch the video to learn his name (that's a hint) and let us know what you think about our "upgrade".
Do you have to be logged into the DJI Fly App to fly your drone? The logical answer is yes, but what's the not so logical answer? We received a comment on a recent video informing us that when logged out of the DJI Fly App, there seemed to be an 80 foot limitation on the Quick Shots and maybe even the flight itself. Well, we wanted to know if it's legit because I couldn't find anything referencing this in the DJI Mini 2 flight manual. I was able to locate a statement online implicating there was a limitation set on the height and distance settings if logged out of the DJI Fly App, but nothing substantial to support the claim. Well, today we find out once and for all if this is an actual setting in the DJI Fly App, or if it's an anomaly like many other things as it relates to the DJI Fly App updates recently.
Well, we just got finished installing the DJI Fly App Update 1.12.2 in our DJI Mini 2 drone (Rose) and figured we may as well install the same Fly App Update in our DJI Mini 4 Pro (Dwight). Wrong!!! I went through what I thought was the correct process (self taught mind you). The information in the Fly App said there was a firmware update which I assumed included the Fly App update 1.12.2 version. Ok, I must've missed something in the translation here because when I hit update, the drone and controller went through the update process but nothing seemed to change. The Fly App, the aircraft firmware and the RC controller firmware were the same as they were before. If you watch this video and read this description, please give me some sort of advice on why this may have happened. Hopefully the Fly App update 1.12.2 will be coming soon for the DJI Mini 4 Pro but it may be a blessing if it doesn't. The Mini 2 had some problems!!! Tune in Monday to see how Rose (DJI Mini 2) handled
Well, as usual, DJI did it again and gave us another DJI Fly App Update 1.12.2. Are you ready for this? I wasn't ready for this result at all. Normally we go out and do a short signal test, a Return to Home test and a "signature dronie" then we pack up, come home and put together a quick video. Well, today I went out with the same intentions and on the signal test, I was really surprised. Make sure to watch to the end so you can understand what I mean...
Well, the DJI Fly App Update 1.12.2 proved terrible at first glance, but wait until you see what happened when we did our re-test. During our first test, the signal dropped out at 869 feet and we thought we were doomed. BUT, with a little help from our subscribers and loyal viewers, we decided to give it another shot and boy are we glad we did. The comments we received after the first test ranged from extremely helpful to somewhat nasty, but we like to focus on the positive. We took the advice of our viewers and went out for a second test in an attempt to duplicate the results or debunk my original findings. Follow along and see what happens...
Is there such a thing as a Mini 4 Pro active track 5 mile test? YES! There's tons of videos on YouTube demonstrating the abilities of the DJI Mini 4 Pro active track feature and most focus on how the 360 obstacle avoidance helps the Mini 4 Pro navigate through wooded areas and other things while maintaining its active track fix on the subject. Well, we wanted to know if the Mini 4 Pro active track is capable of following a subject over a long distance or if it'll get tired and quit. So, we went to the beach (perfect test spot) and tried to follow our 2020 Ford F-350 dually with the DJI Mini 4 Pro we so affectionately refer to as Dwight. Oh, and Kelshaw came along for the ride. Someone had to drive, right?
DJI has released the new Fly App Update 1.12.3 and what better drone to test it on than the DJI Mini 2? Let's get started and see what they've improved... or messed up? We recently tested out the DJI Fly App Update 1.12.2 and weren't too impressed initially, but after further review and after reading the comments left by you (our loyal followers) we re-tested the Fly App Update and changed our tune. We need to again thank you for all your awesome tips and advice and know that we truly appreciate each and every one of you.
It's time again to install the new DJI Fly App Update 1.12.3 and the new Firmware Update 01-00.0210 in the DJI Mini 4 Pro drone. Normally we only have one update at a time, but this week we are in for a special treat because we have 2 updates at once!!! There's been some controversy centered around this new Fly App Update regarding the 120 meter altitude limits in the EU Countries, but fortunately here in the USA we don't have to be concerned with that. We haven't heard anything negative being said in the interwebs about the Mini 4 Pro Firmware Update 01.00.0210, but that doesn't mean something's not been overlooked. So, here we go!!! We are going to put Dwight (our DJI Mini 4 Pro drone) up in the air where we originally flew Rose (our DJI Mini 2 drone) with the older Fly App Update 1.12.2 and she had some pretty bad signal issues. A friend of the channel, Randy Morgan, came up with this idea so if something goes wrong, Randy, you're to blame!
It's time for us to have another Mini 2 vs Mini 4 Pro competition! Did you know you can create the "dolly zoom effect" with a drone? It's even easier now, too by way of the Waypoints!!! You gotta see how easy this is. I was informed by a viewer, Randy Morgan, about a new up and coming YouTube channel called Create and Kaptivate. This channel, hosted by Mark Kapanen, is a relatively new channel, but wow, he knows what he's doing! He's figured out a way to incorporate Waypoints into the creation of the Dolly Zoom Effect, which pretty much makes this once nearly impossible take, effortless... I watched Mark's video and was blown away at how simply he broke down the steps of the process. Please jump over to his channel and give this video an watch. Wait till you're done watching ours first though... :)
Things could have really gotten out of control during this return to home test because the DJI Mini 4 had sort of a malfunction at first... Stick around and see what I mean. We've decided it's time again to pit the DJI Mini 2 against the Mini 4 Pro and see which one is better when updating the home point. We hope you enjoy this Return to Home test and hopefully it answers some questions you may not even know you have. We got some inspiration from Shaun the Drone for this test idea as he demonstrated last week how to "Update the Home Point" on the DJI Mini 4 Pro. I started thinking, "How accurate is this updated home point really going to be?" Then I decided it's time to see if the DJI Mini 2 can beat the Mini 4 Pro again... Hmmmmm
Ready for a DJI Mini 2 Update for the RC-N1 Controller? W. ell, DJI has just introduced firmware update 04.11.0400 for the RC-N1 controller so it's time to test it on the DJI Mini 2. I was informed by a viewer about this Mini 2 update (RC-N1 update) otherwise, I probably never would have even noticed. I miss simple details sometimes. Anyway, I want to thank Mr. Raymond for letting me know and for looking out for us. Today, we took Rose (DJI Mini 2 drone) out and installed this update in her controller to see if it was an improvement or a de-improvement (is that a word?). We went to Bulls Hit Ranch and Farm to fly this test in hopes of seeing some crops and animals. Spoiler alert: We didn't see either...
Is this tiny 249 gram drone a legit DJI Mini 2 killer? Honestly, it has a chance so today we are going to put it through its paces and see how it stands up to the DJI Mini 2 drones. Aspexel contacted us and asked if we'd be interested in reviewing their Aspexel G09 Pro Mini drone and once we learned it was in the below 250 gram weight class, we were immediately intrigued. They sent it to us and asked for an honest review, so here goes! One of the best features this drone offers is simply the price. It's listed on Amazon currently for $179 US with a discount coupon attached for $40. That's $139 for a drone that has a chance to put the DJI Mini 2 to sleep!
What would you do if the DJI Fly App crashed mid-flight? Watch along and find out a solution you may have never thought of... We've been flying DJI Mini drones for a few years now and it suddenly dawned on me, "What would I do if the DJI Fly App crashed mid-flight?" Well, one thing you could do is cross your fingers and pray the DJI drone initiates a return to home flight and comes back unscathed. You could also wait for the DJI Fly App to magically reconnect and resume flight. But there's a third option I bet you haven't thought of... What if you close out the DJI Fly App after it crashed and open up a 3rd party app like Maven? Yep, that's what we're going to try out on this video and we'll be keeping our fingers crossed that it works. Stick around. You may be surprised what happens here...
Well, DJI has released the newest Fly App Update, 1.12.4 and this was HUGE! (for the DJI Mini 4 Pro and Air 3) Today, though, we will be focusing on the DJI Mini 2 and see how this new Fly App update affects things. How many of you guys out there are still flying the DJI Mini 2 drone? Do you feel like it's becoming a thing of the past with all these new drones coming out lately? I started to feel that way, too but hey, on this channel, the DJI Mini 2 will never die!!! This little drone has proven itself time and time again and has held its own against these newer and bigger drones offered by DJI and Autel. We are excited to see how long this wave lasts and as long as DJI dont' forget the Mini 2, neither will we.
Could the HOVERAir X1 self-flying camera be DJI Mini 4 Pro's perfect companion? The HOVERAir X1 drone is a one of a kind self-flying, selfie type camera and I have to admit, it's pretty amazing. There is no doubt in my mind the HOVERAir X1 drone makes the perfect supplement to your DJI MIni 4 Pro. Zero Zero Robotics reached out to us (for reasons unknown to me) and asked if we'd be interested in reviewing their HOVERAir X1 pocket sized flying camera. I saw some reviews on YouTube and immediately knew it was something I'd be interested in trying. This miniature flying camera can fold up small enough to fit in your pocket but when it's unleashed from the confines of your pocket and set out on a mission, it's unstoppable! Watch along and see for yourself how easy the HOVERAir X1 is to use and compare how quickly you can get it started to how quickly you can get your DJI Mini 4 Pro started. You will be surprised and you'll want to try this out for yourself.
We have a weird, confusing return to home test set for today's video. I'm pretty sure you've not seen anyone test this, but if you have, let us know. I was sitting around one day thinking to myself, "You know, we haven't really done many Mini 4 Pro return to home tests and that's a shame. We've done a dozen or more Mini 2 return to home test videos so I didn't want Dwight (our DJI Mini 4 Pro) to feel left out. Suddenly it hit me... "Does height affect return to home? Oh yea, that's a great test idea! So, follow along with today's video and see if this return to home test is the greatest return to home test of all time or if it's just another "We're the Roberts" idea...
Well, DJI has released the newest Fly App Update, 1.12.6 and although it wasn't as huge as the previous 1.12.4 Fly App update, it was necessary. Know why? Because they optimized overall app quality! Congratulations DJI Mini 2 users!!! This one is for you!!! Oh, did I mention this is gonna be an urban setting fly app update test? Well, it is...
Would you like to see how the Mini 2 and the Mini 4 Pro both do with the DJI Fly App Update 1.12.8? Me too! Let's go! DJI really isn't letting me keep up on these updates so here we go again... Late to the party... Oh well. As long as we're here that's what matters so let's get this test going. Today, we are in a totally new spot. One we've never flown before and certainly never installed a DJI Fly App Update. We're camping with the Kelshaws this week at Otter Springs Campground in Trenton, Florida with almost no cell signal, so I'm really surprised we were even able to upload this Fly App Update. Let's fly up the river with both Rose (DJI Mini 2) and Dwight (DJI Mini 4 Pro) and see which one reigns supreme.
Well, the MIni 4 Pro bad waypoints results are in. We wanted to test out the waypoints and expected great results, but we were somewhat underwhelmed with the results. Maybe we expected too much... Have you tried creating a DJI Mini 4 waypoints mission? It's really simple to do, but have you tried to re-fly the mission to see how accurate it truly is? Well, that's what we're doing today so stick around and see what happens. When we bought the DJI Mini 4 Pro drone (Dwight), I was probably the most excited about the waypoints missions we could create and duplicate later in the year to show the differences the seasons make. We've created several DJI Mini 4 waypoints missions and have been really pleased with the results, BUT... I wanted to check and see how accurate these waypoints missions truly are so I figured what better way to do it then to test it for a video.
Freewell is finally getting to the bottom of their list. They just sent us the DJI Mini 4 Pro ND Filters kit and wow, this sucker is NICE!!! We aren't going to do your typical MIni 4 Pro ND Filters test today. We are going to do something a little different and us them in Auto Mode. Auto Mode? Yep, AUTO MODE. A lot of drone operators swear up and down the ND filters do nothing in Auto Mode and the only way to get the right result is to use them in Pro Mode. There is one YouTuber who disagrees. Ted Nemeth makes fantastic videos and his advice is to always keep your drone in Auto Mode and to only use an ND filter when it's really sunny and bright outside. In fact, he only has an ND 64 filter in his arsenal and that's how he keeps thing simple. Great advice, Ted and thank you for the tip!
Holy crap! DJI has returned a hidden safety feature to the mix of our Mini 2 and Mini 4 Pro drones! When they deleted this hidden safety feature a while back, I was happy it was gone, but as soon as we bought our DJI Mini 4 Pro, I was wishing it was back. And now it is!!! Today, we took all three of our DJI Mini drones (Jack - Mini 2, Dwight - MIni 4 Pro and Rose - Mini 2) out for a test flight and verified this hidden safety feature is back, maybe not in full, but in part. And they brought back the biggest part!!!
This DJI Mini 4 Pro hidden accessory could cause a crash or it could save your drone... DJI may have a problem and they don't even know it yet... Ok, enough of the dramatics. We were contacted by PowerExtra Pro and were asked to test out a new DJI Mini 4 Pro accessory. Of course we were interested immediately because this accessory is something every drone uses. PowerExtra Pro has developed an aftermarket DJI Mini 4 Pro battery that seems to match the original DJI Mini 4 Pro Plus battery to a TEE. We took on the challenge and compared the original DJI Mini 4 Pro plus battery with this new PowerExtra Pro plus battery and quickly realized DJI may be in big trouble. This battery's spec are so close to the MIni 4 Pro plus battery it would be easy to think the performance would be just as good, right? Watch and see what happens during this test and you be the judge.
Has DJI really DELETED our favorite Return to Home feature? You may not like how this plays out so stick around to see what's going on. There we were, minding our own business, when suddenly we saw a comment from G Rossi 46 saying DJI has deleted one of my favorite Return to Home features. His comment said when the DJI Mini 4 Pro's Return to Home flight is activated, the pilot no longer has control of the yaw or the height controls. Immediately I knew this was something we needed to test with both the DJI Mini 4 Pro and the DJI Mini 2 drones. Today we went out with both of our Mini 2 drones (Jack and Rose) along with our DJI Mini 4 Pro (Dwight) to test this out and see if our fear was true. We pitted all 3 drones against each other to see which one (if any) still had this special return to home feature and which one(s) lost the control. Stick around to see what happens. Again, I say you may not like these results.
Well, it was bound to happen. I knew it was just a matter of time before we had a return to home fail video and today is the day. Return to home failure isn't an option, right? Well, I guess that's not a totally accurate description of events so let me lay it out here. We wanted to make a video with the coolest return to home flight ever and we were inspired by a video we saw from Gary Sumner. I'll link his video further down in the description so make sure to click on it and watch the video that inspired us to make this video... Anyway, I had a spot all picked out in my head that was going to be magical and I knew this return to home flight wouldn't fail but I was wrong. Although there wasn't a crash or disaster, we unfortunately weren't able to capture the return to home magic with our DJI MIni 4 Pro (Dwight) that Gary was able to with his Mini 4 Pro (Faith). I'd say it was definitely a fair attempt and we did have some success.
We found another hidden feature! This time it's a Mini 2 landing feature that nobody seems to know about. But this video is about even more than that. We conducted 3 different tests on the DJI MIni 4 Pro and the Mini 2 for this video. Watch this... As always, we want to thank everyone for watching and taking the time to comment. We get some of our best video ideas from you guys in the comments and we love to share the results with the YouTube world. Please, if you have a test suggestion or want us to try something, leave it in the comments and who knows? It may end up on one of our future videos.
Has anyone ever done a DJI Return to Home Fly App comparison? I don't think they have, but that's going to change today. We're going to compare the DJI Mini 4 Pro and the DJI Mini 2, both of which are using different DJI Fly App versions. Our DJI Mini 2 (Jack) is set on the 1.4.8 Fly App version and our DJI Mini 4 Pro (Dwight) is set on the 1.12.8 Fly App version. And yes, we name our drones... Anyway, we received a comment from a loyal subscriber asking if we could demonstrate what behavior the drones demonstrate upon receiving the initial Return to Home command. Watch and see what these results are. You may be surprised to learn these 2 drones DON'T react the same under all circumstances...
Are you worried about losing a drone? Don't fear! I lost 2 drones in 1 day! I'm beginning to wonder if Airplane Mode is a huge mistake or if it's worth it... Today we tested out the possibility that using airplane mode while flying your drone is a good thing or a huge mistake. We responded to a question from a viewer asking if the DJI Fly App can still display the maps or use the Find My Drone feature while in airplane mode. Well, the results are in and wait till you see this... I may be an expert at losing a drone. I intentionally lost 2 drones in 1 day and tried to use the Find my Drone feature with the DJI Fly App to locate the "lost" drones. Did we have success or are the drones lost forever?
Ok, here we go again. We want to know if the Mini 4 Pro will return to home under a tree or will it CRASH? Only one way to find out, right? We recently released a video where I "stole" an idea from Gary Sumner. With permission of course. Anyway, Gary posted a video where he flew his DJI MIni 4 Pro in the woods (and I mean thick woods) and he activated the return to home feature. I was blown away at the route his Mini 4 Pro took while on the return to home flight and I knew I had to try this... Well, we posted the video and it was a huge hit! Everyone loved it. Mom, Dad, Kristi, Kelshaw and even some of you guys... Anyway, we received a comment a couple months prior to this video asking if we could test the return to home feature with the homepoint being placed below a tree... HUH? Who would ask such a thing? But, OK, here we go! We set off on this adventure today with only one thing in mind. SUCCESS! Ok, maybe the word "crash" was in the back of my mind, but not Dwight'
Have we found the perfect DJI replacement drone? Oh, it's possible, but is it legit? A company called RUKO contacted us asking if we'd be interested in testing out one of their F11GIM2 drones and we agreed! Based on the specs and the previous review videos I've seen posted on YouTube, this drone seems like a legitimate DJI competitor and could possibly be a DJI replacement should DJI become banned in the future. I took the Ruko F11GIM2 drone out for a test flight and I wasn't disappointed in its performance. I remember thinking initially this is just another poser, but it seems Ruko has done something right. They've updated their controller style from the Wi-Fi type to the USB type which to me, was an awesome upgrade. For our test in this video, unfortunately the weather wasn't too cooperative, so we were only able to test out the signal strength and the return to home feature. This Ruko F11GIM 2 drone has several smart features including Point of Interest, follow mode.
Isn't it exciting to see a new DJI Fly App Update is available? I thought so, too and that's why we decided to install the update and bring you guys a video. We want to help you decide if this DJI fly app update is right for you and for your DJI Mini 2 drone. Or any drone that uses the DJI Fly App for that matter. There are several videos out there already demonstrating the new DJI Fly app update 1.13.0 for drones like the DJI Mini 4 Pro, Air 3, Mini 3 Pro and others, but I haven't seen anyone cover the DJI Mini 2 yet. That's why today's video is so important. I know there are a lot of us out there who still fly the DJI Mini 2 drone and don't want to see it disappear from the radar or from YouTube!
Well, DJI felt it was time for another Fly App Update, but this was truly underwhelming. They did update one small thing though... DJI just released the Fly app update 1.13.0 less than a couple weeks ago for the release of the DJI Avata 2 and it was definitely a hit. So why did they feel the need to release the new fly app update 1.13.1? Who knows but they have their reasons. One issue they found with the 1.13.0 fly app update was the mode icon in the upper left corner for the RC controller (DJI Mini 3 pro) displayed "P Mode" when the drone was in "Normal Mode". Maybe that's the only reason DJI decided to release the new fly app update. There's been some complaints about the new fly app update 1.13.1 and how to download it if you're using the RC controller for the DJI Mini 3 for example. Fortunately, we don't have to worry about that problem because we're using the RC-N1 controller for our DJI Mini 2 (Rose).
You may not be ready for this DJI Mini 2 killer update, but we are posting it anyway. All I can say is I was not expecting to discover this problem. Back in December, 2023, we were contacted by a company called Aspexel and were asked if we would be interested in reviewing one of their drones, the Aspexel GO9 Mini drone. We agreed and released the video titled, "DJI Mini 2 Killer?" The review video was met with a mix of reactions from, "This drone is awesome!" to "This drone sucks!" Although we can all agree this Aspexel drone is not a DJI Mini 2 killer, I felt it held its own in the test flight and showed very well as a nice beginner drone. We've constantly seen comments come through the portal ever since the release of the original DJI Mini 2 Killer video and weren't surprised when we saw a comment come through yesterday. Then I read the comment and was shocked at what I read! That is the reason for this DJI Mini 2 Killer update video and we hope you can appreciate the heads
We've all been told the DJI Mini 4 Pro safety features affect precision landing. BUT is it really true? Today we take Dwight (our DJI Mini 4 Pro) out for a test and see just how much affect the Mini 4 Pro safety features(bottom sensors specifically) really have. Will the drone find its homepoint or will it get lost and fly away? Stick around and find out what happens... As always we want to thank everyone for watching and taking the time to post comments. We truly appreciate your support and suggestions. Also, if you have any tests you'd like us to try with either the Mini 4 or the Mini 2, please let us know in the comments and we'd be happy to give it a try... Famous last words :)
Introducing the Latest DJI Fly App update 1.13.2 for the all original DJI Mini 4K drone!!! Ok, there's also a new drone to talk about, too but it seems like an imposter to me. DJI has introduced the DJI Mini 4K drone along with the fly app update, 1.13.2, and it looks strikingly similar to the original DJI Mini 2 drone. You know... The one that changed the world!!! Anway, we haven't ordered the new Mini 4K yet but I may need your help. If you get a chance, please send Kristi an email and ask her to allow me to purchase the new DJI Mini 4K drone so we can do comparison videos between that and the DJI Mini 2... How cool would that be???
Have you encountered any Remote ID problems now that it's required for a lot of us to fly our drones? We have, too and in this video one comes to light BIG TIME... We bought 2 Holy Stone Remote ID modules for our 2 DJI Mini 2 drones as required due to these drones being registered with the FAA. The reason the FAA requires these drones to be registered isn't because of their weight. It's simply because we use them commercially. With that said, we searched and searched for the perfect Remote ID modules on Amazon and finally decided to go with the Holy Stone modules as depicted in this video. Well, we demonstrated these remote ID modules on our channel and we received some questions and some test ideas from our audience. One question in particular was simple. "How far away can these Remote ID modules be detected with the Drone Scanner App?" We figured this was simple to test so that's what this video is all about. We were definitely met with some challenges so follow along
DJI has officially removed a special return to home feature that I used pretty much every time I flew my drone. It's not just a feature that I used, but it's a feature that was AMAZING! What would possess DJI to make this change? I don't know but they still haven't listened to us when we tested this out a few months ago. We proved this return to home feature was removed yet they still didn't listen and bring it back. Well, we had a lot of comments from that video giving us suggestions to try and maybe the return to home feature would return. That's what today's video is all about. We are going to give it our best shot to see if DJI totally removed this feature from the DJI Mini 4 Pro or if it's a fluke... Mini 2 vs Mini 4 Pro!!! Let's get this going!
Have you ever wondered which would win in an Auto vs Manual Mode show down with the DJI Mini 4 Pro? Me either, but one of our loyal viewers did and asked if we'd test it! Heck yea! We received a comment a while back on one of our previous videos asking if we'd be able to record a test between auto vs manual mode with the DJI Mini 4 Pro. We were told he experiences a better precision landing result when he uses Auto mode instead of the Manual mode that's available. We agreed and the results are in. You may be surprised here... :) Actually, we probably should have included the DJI Mini 2 on this test but I just now thought of that... Ok, maybe next time.
Did you know there's a DJI Mini 4 Pro hidden feature in Sport Mode? You can actually activate obstacle avoidance in sport mode with this awesome hidden feature and the best part is, I don't think anyone knew this!!! We can't take credit for figuring this little "hack" out but we can sure as heck try to duplicate the results, right? I was watching a video from J&E Tex Drones recently and he (John) discovered a way the obstacle avoidance actually works in sport mode with the DJI Mini 4 Pro. He was conducting an Active Shots test and when he swapped it over to sport mode, he was in for a surprise. Well, so was I. Watch along and see how this all plays out. You may be surprised, or you may not be. Maybe you already knew about this hidden feature so, if that's the case, be sure to leave a comment telling us how out of the loop we are. :)
Imagine being so excited for the newest DJI Fly App Update only to be disappointed almost immediately after installing it. Well, that's exactly what happened today and I'm here to say, DJI could do much better... I guess I should clarify, but if I told you the problem I had, there's a chance you may not watch to find out exactly what happened. All I can say is, there is probably thousands of people out there who spent good money on a DJI Mini 4 Pro accessory that is now nothing more than a paper weight. And that is DISAPPOINTING! Anyway, I have been waiting on this new Fly App update for almost 4 months and have been using the 1.12.8 fly app update since it was released. I skipped the Fly App Updates following the 1.12.8 simply because there seemed to be way too many problems and they seemed to be pretty difficult to install.
Drone hotspots are sometimes hidden and we may have just found the perfect way to find them every time! This Hovsco Porto Max electric scooter will definitely help us find awesome hotspots to fly our drones... We were contacted by Hovsco recently and asked if we'd be interested in reviewing their new arrival, the Porto Max Electric Scooter. This scooter is classified as a seated scooter and packs a punch for its size. As soon as Hovsco contacted us, we were immediately interested and knew this scooter could potentially help us find better locations (hotspots) to fly our DJI Mini 4 Pro (and the Mini 2 drones of course). In this video, we introduce the Hovsco Porto Max Electric Scooter and demonstrate our first ride. We really enjoyed this scooter and can't thank Hovsco enough for reaching out. We hope you enjoy the video as much as we enjoyed making it.
DJI just can't seem to stop releasing new Fly App Updates, and to what end? It seems like every Fly App update that's released there's new problems or issues to deal with and figure out... Today, we want to focus on 2 things. First we wanted to install the Fly App Update 1.13.4 for Rose (our DJI Mini 2) and second, we want to try to figure out a solution to a problems that was pointed out last week on our Fly App update 1.13.4 video for Dwight (our DJI Mini 4 Pro). Actually, I didn't even notice this problem with Dwight until it was pointed out by a few viewers and now that they showed me, I can't unsee it! When I got home from testing the Fly App Update 1.13.4 with the DJI Mini 2, I found out a new Fly App Update (1.13.5) had been released for the DJI RC2 controller which we use for the DJI Mini 4 Pro. So, I installed it to see if the aforementioned problem had been resolved. Guess what! NOPE! Seriously if I new we'd be continuing to have these major issues with the Fly.
Are you experiencing DJI Mini 4 Pro compass problems? Is the compass jittery and act like it's got some sort of anxiety? Well, so do we and we may have the solution you're looking for. A couple weeks ago, we were informed of a problem the DJI Mini 4 Pro compass was exhibiting that we totally missed. You may be surprised to learn that sometimes I miss stuff. Well, I totally missed this jittery compass problem until it was pointed out and now I simply can't unsee it. We posted a follow up video in an effort to find a solution for the compass jitters and were inundated with responses. In this video, we discuss the "potential solutions" provided by our loyal viewers and amazingly, I share my personal solution to this whole issue. You may be shocked to see how simple this is...
Did I just break the law and violate restricted air space? UHO!!! All I was trying to do was demonstrate whether the high KP index interfered with a safe DJI Mini 2 and Mini 4 Pro drone flight. You tell me... Did I just break the law? Obviously this is no laughing matter, but sometimes you have to make light of a situation when it could result in a catastrophic failure, right? In this video, we went to Des Moines, Iowa to visit family and figured we should highlight the high KP index numbers everyone across the country had been experiencing due to the high Auroura episodes that were present. Our KP index was well over 8 and I don't know of any time in the future this could ever happen again. Anyway, we were flying close to the Des Moines International Airport so it's a given we would be in controlled air space. So I did my due diligence and acquired LANCC approval before launching the first drone, our DJI Mini 2 (Rose). After that, we launched Rose.
Introducing the only drone power station you'll need ever need. This is the Ruko R299 Power Station and it's been specifically designed for us! You know. We who fly drones. Whether you're flying the DJI Mini 4 Pro, the Mini 3 Pro, the DJI Air 3, the Ruko F11GIM2, the Ruko F11Mini, or even an old school DJI Phantom 4 Pro, you'll need this power station. Ruko reached out and asked if we'd be interested in testing out and posting a review on their newest R299 drone power station and we jumped at the chance. This is the same company who we worked with in the past with one of their drones, the F11-GIM2 and we had a great experience with Ruko. The company seems to be very interested in their customers' interest and needs and that's why we immediately agreed to work with them again. We put this 330 watt pure sine wave power station to the test and although we found some limitations, we have been really pleased with the results and what it can handle on a day to day basis.
Are you ready for a DJI Mini 2 fly app update? Me too! I was originally excited for this fly app update for the DJI Mini 4 Pro, but when I immediately had problems downloading it (or finding it for that matter) my excitement quickly moved to the DJI Mini 2. Yes, I am easily distracted... Anyway, I tried and tried and tried to search for the new fly app update on the Mini 4 Pro's RC2 controller but every time I searched, it came up saying "your firmware is up to date". I was really confused as to why but then I learned it could have been the servers were too busy to find it or maybe the update wasn't even available at all for the USA... Not surprised there. I then searched for the fly app update in the App Store and suddenly there it was. Staring me right in the face. DJI Fly App Update 1.13.8!!!
If you're looking for a quality waterproof drone case, you've found the video to watch... Introducing Pekrews waterproof and shockproof drone cases. Pekrews contacted us asking if we'd be interested in reviewing one of their DJI back pack style drone cases and it couldn't have come at a better time. Recently we obtained an electric scooter and carrying our two huge, heavy, waterproof hard cases would be impossible while riding that thing. So, I wanted to give the backpack style case a try because there's nothing more important than convenience and security when you're talking about protecting your drones. We told Pekrews what our DJI drone inventory consisted of and they were kind enough to send us both a backpack style waterproof case for the DJI Mini 4 Pro as well as a "Sling" style waterproof case for the DJI Mini 2. I can't believe it took me this long to try out this type of drone case and although there's no truly perfect drone case for every scenario.
Did DJI fix everything with the newest DJI Fly App Update 1.13.9? NO! On a scale of 1 to 10, this fly app update is about a 9 for me. They seemed to address all the problems everyone was complaining about except for the one I was complaining about. Shocker... Last week, we released the DJI Fly App Update 1.13.8 video for the Mini 2 (pro) and honestly, that update worked perfectly for the Mini 2. I had no problems whatsoever, BUT I wasn't able to update the DJI Mini 4 Pro because I simply couldn't find the update on the RC2 controller. I even swallowed my pride and called Nobbygreen asking him to walk me through the process of the update. Well, surprise! I know. I'm just as surprised as you are, but I was actually looking for the fly app update in all the right places with the RC2 controller, but it just simply wasn't popping up. Well, the next day, I woke up and when I turned the RC2 controller on to check one last time, BOOM! Here comes the Fly App Update 1.13.9!
We reviewed the Hovsco E Scooter a few weeks ago and I have to say, I'm even more impressed with it now than I was back then. We've found so many different uses for this e scooter than we can shake a stick at. And trust me, we've got a lot of sticks... In today's video, we take the Hovsco Porto Max E Scooter out with us as we return a tractor to a friend who helped us take down a couple of trees. He also let us borrow his tractor to finish the clean up and we really appreciated his help. Without the tractor, we'd probably still be cutting up tree limbs and logs to get them out of the yard. Anyway, I needed to return the tractor and I needed a ride home. So the Hovsco Porto Max E Scooter was the perfect solution for my dilema.
Is the DJI Phantom 4 Pro worth buying in 2024? Guys, I need your help with this decision. In today's video we are facing an opportunity head on with a once in a lifetime chance (at least for me). I have a buddy who owns a DJI Phantom 4 Pro and he let me borrow it for a test flight. The opportunity is, I have another buddy who's in another state, and he also owns a DJI Phantom 4 Pro that he wants to sell. Well, he's giving us first dibs on the DJI Phantom 4 Pro purchase so we figured why not borrow this drone and see if we think it's worth it? So we 'kidnapped" this Phantom 4 Pro and headed to West Virginia to visit family and try the drone out for its maiden voyage. Stick around and see how this really goes... One last thing, I truly need some advice on whether we should go ahead with the purchase of the DJI Phantom 4 Pro or if you all think it's a thing of the past. I can think of all kinds of tests we could try out for future videos, but I'm not 100% sold yet.
Are you ready for a DJI Mini 2 vs Phantom 4 Pro video? I don't know if I've ever seen one, so we are gonna give it a shot and see how it goes... Yes, we know. The Mini 2 and the Phantom 4 Pro are so similar, it may be hard to differentiate between them, but let's give it a try. I've seen a lot of DJI Mini 2 vs other drone videos and we've even posted several ourselves. Mainly it's been the DJI Mini 2 vs the Mini 4 Pro or even some DJI MIni 2 vs DJI Mini 2 videos. But we recently got our hands on a Phantom 4 Pro and wanted to see which drone will reign supreme.
Are the Fly App Updates affecting your DJI Mini 4 Pro like they are mine? I wasn't expecting these 2 problems to persist with this new Fly App update (1.13.10) but they reared their ugly heads again. Did they correct themselves later in the flight? Maybe but you'll have to watch to find out what happens. Our DJI Mini 4 Pro (Dwight) has been a really good drone and has proven himself to be really dependable and fun to fly. BUT, with all these DJI Fly App updates coming out lately, there have been some problems coming up for hundreds of drone pilots. Eventually we know DJI will be able to get everything squared away but when will that be? Honestly I was ultimately pleased with the DJI Fly App 1.13.10 update but it didn't start off too well in the beginning. One problem was nearly catastrophic while the second problem wasn't really that big of a deal. Let's just say this: I had to immediately land the DJI Mini 4 Pro right after take off or he may have drifted into traffic.
Ever since the talk of the DJI drone ban began, people have been looking for a DJI Mini drone killer to give DJI some competition. Have we found the one? Watch this video and you be the judge... We were contacted by Ruko again and were asked to review another drone they've recently unveiled. Introducing the new Ruko U11Mini drone. This drone is Ruko's improvement on their older F11Mini drone they released last year or year before. We've done a couple different reviews for Ruko in the past including their F11GIM2 drone as well as their R299 Power Station. We've placed some links to those videos below in the description, so feel free to click on the links and check these products out for yourself. The reason I mention that is that Ruko has proven themselves to be a reliable company with quality products and they always ask us to provide a sincere and accurate review (good or bad). Ruko also seems to be very receptive to user feedback and suggestions to improve their products.
What? There's another DJI Mini 2 issue? And I didn't even see it coming! Guys, you won't believe this one... Back a few weeks ago, we pitted Rose (our DJI Mini 2 drone) against a DJI Phantom 4 Pro we borrowed from a buddy. I wanted to simply see which drone would reign supreme in a head to head precision landing competition. Ok, I know the DJI Mini 2 doesn't have precision landing and the Phantom 4 Pro does, so how is this fair? It's probably not but this is We're the Roberts so anything goes... Anyway, we did the test but ran into an unexpected issue with the DJI Mini 2 (Rose). For an unexpected reason, Rose tried to land over 10 feet away from where she took off and she refused to get any closer, even after 2 Return to Home flights. It was really weird. Needless to say, the Phantom 4 Pro won this "competition" if it can even be called that.
Do you like secrets? How about Secret DJI Mini 4 Pro features? Yea, met, too. That's why I was excited to try this test and see if it was true. We received a comment on a video from a couple weeks ago letting us know a "secret" or not so well known feature of the DJI Mini 4 Pro precision landing procedure. Did you know when the DJI Mini 4 Pro is in auto Return to Home mode, it pauses at the height you initially raised to upon take off to fine tune its landing spot? I had no idea it did that but I figured today was as good a day as any to try it out. I mean, heck, we just got hit by Hurricane Debby yesterday, so why wouldn't it be a good idea? Did it work or was it a dud? Stick around and find out.
Is it possible to trick the DJI Mini 4 Pro? Some say yes, some say no... Some say I'm an idiot. All 3 may be right, but that's what we're gonna test today. We have been having a bunch of problems with our DJI Mini 4 Pro's precision landing capabilities lately so we wanted to take a break from trying to figure out what the problem is. With the Mini 4 Pro, it's hard to know where to start in solving problems because there's so many features and options, it could be anything! Anyway, we wanted to go out and just enjoy a flight today with our Mini 4 Pro (Dwight) and see if we could maybe pull a fast one. Have you ever tried to trick your drone? If so, leave a note in the comments telling us all about it.
Holy Crap! DJI finally released the Fly App Update 1.13.10 for iOS devices! Good thing I have a new iOS device to download the Fly App to today, eh? We've been waiting for what seems like months for this DJI Fly App update and it's finally here. Come with us as we test our DJI Mini 2 (Rose) and see if they've improved things or if they still suck... We updated the DJI Mini 4 Pro several weeks ago and it seemed like a good thing so my hope is it continues for the DJI Mini 2. We've been having some really bad issues with our DJI Mini 2 (Rose) and her non-precision landing. It seems like she has been way off for several weeks when I initiate the auto Return to Home flight and she's been off as bad as 15 feet at times. The way we launch today, if she's off 15 feet, she'll probably land in the water so let's keep our fingers crossed she's on target today. Here goes nothing!!!
If you're in the market for a power station, regardless of the reason, VTOMAN may be just what you're looking for. Whether you're wanting to charge electronics, power a power tool or even power an entire RV system, you're in luck with VTOMAN. I bet you could charge your entire DJI Mini fleet with this thing at the same time you are using the microwave! When we were contacted by VTOMAN to review one of their state of the art power stations, the Flash Speed 1500, we immediately knew what the best test for it would be. We both looked outside and saw our camper sitting in the driveway and wondered, "Would this power station really power the entire RV?" Yea, that's the test... We did a lot of research on VTOMAN and this specific power station before agreeing to accept the review offer and we were totally impressed at everything we saw. From the quick charging feature (1 hour) to the peak wattage (3000 watts) to the extra options (extra battery, solar panels, etc.), we were excited
We have seriously found what I think could be a legit Mini Drone Killer! I'm not just saying that this time. Watch this video and let us know if you agree or disagree... We've been looking for a Mini Drone Killer for months and months. We've tested out numerous mini drones during the past year or so and although some of them have been really cool, they've all fallen a bit short of being deemed a Mini Drone Killer. I know you agree with that... Anyway, we were contacted by Potensic recently and were asked if we'd be interested in showcasing one of their drones: The Potensic Atom 3 axis gimbal 4k drone. This drone is classified as a mini drone as it weighs less than 250 grams and with that weight, in the USA, the user doesn't have to worry about registering the drone with the FAA (as long as they're flying recreationally). Anyway, a mini drone comes with a whole load of benefits for the pilot and with the expected performance of this Potensic Atom, I truly believe.
So, DJI released a new Fly App Update 1.14.0 for the newest drone, the DJI Neo. Well, I think the new fly app KILLED my SanDisk SD Card... What do you think? I was pretty excited to install the new DJI Fly App Update 1.14.0 in our DJI RC2 controller for the DJI Mini 4 Pro (Dwight). I figured since he's been flying so great lately and all the bugs seem to be worked out, why not put a new fly app update in the controller and see if we can mess things up... No disappointment there!!! As soon as we got to the testing grounds for this video, we saw a weird message saying "SD Card Error" or something to that effect. I can't say for certain, but I do believe installing the update has KILLED my SD Card. How in the world are we supposed to get through this test flight without ad SD card? Stick around and find out...
Did DJI lie to all of us regarding this special Mini 4 Pro feature? I think they may have and here's the proof. Ok, maybe not proof, but it raises the question. We have been inundated with Return to Home and precision landing questions regarding the DJI Mini 4 Pro lately and I think we may have uncovered some lies. Maybe not intentional lies, but lies non the less. Maybe DJI has a good explanation for telling us these Mini 4 Pro lies but I've not been able to find any. It has to do with the wording in the DJI Mini 4 Pro manual under the "precision landing" section. The manual says the Mini 4 Pro "matches the terrain" upon the return to home flight and will not land until the terrain matches. If the terrain does not match, the Mini 4 Pro is supposed to hover and display a message saying the terrain doesn't match. Those may not be the exact words in the DJI Mini 4 Pro manual but it's close enough of a paraphrase. Anyway, we decided to put this claim to the test.
When you hear DJI is bringing out a new Fly App Update, you may think, "This is gonna be great!" Think again. This Fly App Update 1.14.2 brings more problems... It seems like a DJI Fly App Update isn't complete without problems, right? Well, that rings true for this Fly App Update so, thanks, DJI! You haven't disappointed us yet again... Today, we wanted to update the DJI Mini 2 (Rose) because we apparently missed the Fly App Update 1.14.0 last week. I mean, I have a full time job so I can't get every update, right? Well, in 16 days I'll be retired so maybe I can focus more on the Fly App update videos after that. Keep your fingers crossed... Anyway, today we flew the DJI Mini 2 drone and encountered a few problems that although weren't major in nature, they could still be annoying. They're definitely something DJI needs to address because one of these problems has persisted since the 1.13.8 or 9 fly app update era.
Could you be at risk for a $10,000 FAA drone fine? Surprisingly you could be and not even know it. We may have a solution to keep you from this unprecedented drone fine amount and keep you safe from the FAA. Unless you're new to the drone world or have just simply been living under a rock, you know by now that the FAA has implemented some new rules regarding the use of drones and they've also slapped some hefty drone fines in the recent months. The rule we will be talking about today is the Remote ID compliance rule in which the FAA has mandated any drone that is registered with the FAA in the USA must be Remote ID compliant. Unfortunately, none of us are exempt from this rule if you fly commercially or if your drone weighs more than 250 grams. So, with all that said, it's time to divulge the purpose of this video and help you understand how you can be Remote ID compliant with a simple module provided by Ruko. Ruko contacted us and asked if we'd be interested in trying out.
The next mini drone killer strikes again! This test was a rough ride and the bugs were relentless, but we made it through. How did the mini drone killer do? Today we want to introduce the TSRC Q8 mini drone. TSRC reached out and asked if we'd be interested in trying out the Q8 mini drone and we agreed, even though we had not heard of the company in the past. As soon as I saw the email, I started doing some research and was looking for review videos on the good old YouTube. Well, I found a review that struck a cord with me because there were some pretty major problems with the drone. When I saw the problems the Idaho Quadcopter channel encountered with this drone, I knew I wanted to test it out and see how i could cope if the same problems presented themselves. Guess what! We had different problems!!! You gotta stick around and see this. We all know that budget drones like the TSRC Q8 are meant for beginners so they can learn how to fly without being worried about damage.
Are you having trouble with your mini 4 pro antennas? I think we have and I think you know what the problem is... USER ERROR... Every since I put the sun shade on the RC2 controller, I've forgotten repeatedly to extend the Mini 4 Pro antennas. I began to notice I was having gimbal shake and trouble with the precision landing of the DJI Mini 4 Pro. Unfortunately I was a little slow on the uptake in figuring out the antennas could be related to these issues. We've gotten repeated comments telling me to extend the antennas and with each comment I became more aware that I am still a true Unprofessional with this drone hobby. One day though, I had an epiphany! I thought to myself, "Hey, Kevin. Why not put a note on the controller to remind you to extend the antennas." Well, that's exactly what I did and I'm pretty sure I haven't had those problems since. But I can't be sure, so that's what today's video is all about. Stick with us as we test out whether extending the antennas.
Guys, we have possibly found the next Mini Drone Killer and we weren't even looking! This newly released drone has a chance to put all the other Mini Drone Killer drones we've tested to shame... Watch along and you be the judge. Holy Stone contacted us a few weeks ago and asked if we'd like to test out their newest drone that wasn't even released yet, the HS360E. It's a sub 250 gram drone Holy Stone created to improve on the older model HS360S. From what I learned about this drone, the main improvement had to do with the camera in that the older model did not have a gimbal or any type of image stabilization. This new HS360E still has no gimbal but they've implemented EIS and say the image is extremely stable, especially compared to the older HS360S model.
I can't believe I forgot all about this awesome DJI Mini 4 Pro hidden feature. the only reason I remembered about it was because one of our loyal subscribers mentioned it. If it wasn't for him, I would still be in the dark... What about you? Have you forgotten about this Mini 4 Pro hidden feature? Are you wondering what Mini 4 Pro hidden feature I'm talking about? Yea, me to, so let's get on with it... I remember some time ago, I was watching a video released by one of my favorite YouTube channels, Nobbygreen, and he demonstrated one of the most awesome hidden features I've seen on the DJI Mini 4 Pro. Cruise Control! Yea, that simple hidden feature that you can only unlock by programming it in your controller? DJI almost forgot to tell us about it, so it's no wonder why we all forgot about it, eh?
The All Powers R600 has to be the ultimate power tool power station and we think you'll agree. Wait till you see what this thing can do. We were contacted by All Powers who asked if we were interested in testing out their R600 model power station and we couldn't be more pleased we agreed. Apparently when the R600 model was initially released, there were some complaints about the noise of the fan and the type of power this power station produced. It seems like All Powers has addressed these problems and they now have a product they can be proud to distribute... In today's video, we test the capabilities of this power station and really focus on the use of this station with power tools. We've been looking for a power station that can handle larger power tools and we think this could fit the bill. Not only could this power station be perfect for the shed and power tools, I believe it could be a really good solution of some portable power to take with you while you fly.
Well, it looks like we found a contender here. We've been looking for a Mini Drone Killer for months now and finally, we may have succeeded! Ok, it may be bigger than a mini drone, but it could still be considered a mini drone killer, eh? We've been working a lot lately with a company called Ruko and they have again reached out to us to try out their newest and most impressive drone to their fleet. They call this the Ruko F11 Pro 2 drone (it's their flagship drone and for good reason). This is a revised version of the original F11 Pro drone released by Ruko some time ago and they've made some real improvements to this drone, mainly the camera. The new F11 Pro 2 drone now has an updated camera system set up on a 3 axis gimbal along with electronic image stabilization (EIS). I truly believe the video quality of this drone could compete with the big boys including that of the DJI Mini 4 Pro. I'm sure a lot of you watching today may disagree, but remember... I'm Kevin...
We've done it! We found the best drone power station on the market. Maybe... There's only one way to find out. A while back, we were contacted by Vtoman and they asked if we'd be interested in testing out one of their best power stations they produced, the Flash Speed 1500. We agreed and tested it out and were blown away at the capability and battery capacity the 1500 had. We were able to power our entire camper with that single power station, so when Vtoman called us back and asked us to test out their new Flash Speed 300 power station, we were all in. Something this size would be the perfect drone power station, eh? Let's see what happens... Power stations come in all shapes, sizes and applications and this new Vtoman Flash Speed 300 power station has its special class. In my "unprofessional" opinion of course. The battery capacity is somewhat small (230 watt hours) which means there could be some limitations if you needed this power station to last for an extended period.
Finally! I finally found the time to install the new DJI Fly App Update 1.15.1. So, was it worth it? The last update we did with the DJI Mini 2 was Fly App Update 1.14.2 and it came with a slew of problems. First, we had issues with Martha stuttering when she announced "The home point has been updated" then the speed displayed during the flights was simply out of control. I believe the speed readings got all the way up to 77 mph. Have you ever seen a DJI Mini 2 or even a Mini 4 Pro for that matter go 77 mph? It was weird... Well, stick around and find out what happens during this test. I can say, there is a surprise that happened in the middle of the test, but we kept our composure and pushed our way through. Wanna see what happened? Watch the video... haha
Well, we all know the Fly App Update 1.15.4 is for the DJI Neo and the new goggles, but what about the DJI Mini 2? Yea, let's try that one... I'm still rebelling and not updating the DJI Mini 4 Pro but I caved and decided to install the new fly app update 1.15.4 version for our DJI Mini 2, Rose... How'd it do? Watch and see if we were successful, or if we had a catastrophic incident that resulted in the loss of our beloved Rose... Did you see that tree? Rose did! Anyway, with the recent fly app updates, we've had several problems with the DJI Mini 2 and a few with the DJI Mini 4 Pro that I've heard of so let's keep our fingers crossed that the experts at DJI have finally figured out how to program an update before they released it in a hurry. Usually when DJI releases an update for a new product (Goggles), there's some issues so let's settle in and watch the show...
We've discovered the DJI Mini 4 Pro firmware update is still limited. It's pretty disappointing but we still can't use certain accessories not "approved" by DJI. A while back, we received a comment from a loyal viewer who said he was having some problems with his DJI Mini 4 Pro and he believed the firmware update may have impaired his DJI Mini 4 Pro's abilities while on waypoints missions when starting out sideways. Well, today's test puts that into action and you could be surprised by the results. Did it work, or did it flop? ALSO, we wanted to retest an aftermarket battery DJI has recently disabled via one of their DJI Mini 4 Pro firmware updates. If the DJI Fly App displays "Non DJI Battery" in the upper left hand corner of the screen, you're in trouble and the Mini 4 Pro will NOT work properly. Stick around and find out how all this plays out...
Today we continue our search for the newest mini drone killer on the market! We're getting closer with each one. This one is a bit oversized so it's more of a mini drone CRUSHER! We were contacted by Holy Stone to try out their new and improved HS600D drone. This drone is an upgraded version of the older HS600 drone and boy did they make some improvements... The new HS600D now has a 3 axis gimbal and its 4k video along with the electronic image stabilization (EIS) incorporated, wow, the video quality is simply amazing. This mini drone killer has nearly a dozen smart features as well, but my main focus for today's video will center on the flyability, maneuverability, video quality and of course the return to home (RTH) function... I can't test a drone without testing the RTH, right? With all that said, let's get moving along with the video and see how this latest "Mini Drone Killer" stacks up against the competition. You gotta admit it's HUGE!!!
Are you looking for a lithium battery upgrade for your RV? Vatrer could easily be what you're looking for. This 300 amp hour lithium battery has reshaped the way we can camp now and has inspired us to change our approach. We were contacted by a company called Vatrer who is apparently becoming a leader in the lithium battery world and their options seem to be limitless. Vatrer has batteries ranging from 100 amp hours to over 400 amp hours with options including internal heating features, abilities to arrange multiple batteries in series, low voltage cut off, low temperature cut off, and dozens more features. Vatrer supplies lithium battery upgrades for golf carts, boats, home energy systems but this video will focus on RV lithium battery upgrade because we don't have a boat or a golf cart... Vatrer supplied us with a 300 amp hour lithium battery to replace our old 35 amp hour lead acid battery that originally came with our camper back in 2017.
Have you ever tried landing a Mini 4 Pro on a boat? Me neither... Until TODAY! My advice: Don't do it! It could end badly. But then again, it could land safely in your hand... You gotta make up your own mind on this one... Today, I went out with the Gheenoe Guy on his boat for a little "fishing excursion". We headed out to the Intracoastal in St. Augustine, Florida in search of the big fish, but I also brought Dwight, our DJI MIni 4 Pro drone, along for the ride. I figured it was time to try launching and landing a MIni 4 Pro drone on a boat. Why not, right? We also wanted to use a couple viewer comments from a previous video to do a couple DJI Mini 4 Pro tests (Master Shots)... So, what do you think happens? Will we be successful in landing a Mini 4 Pro on the Gheenoe Guy's boat, or will Dwight wind up in the water? Watch and see... Watch and see...
Well, I finally broke down and updated to the DJI Fly App Update 1.15.5 with our DJI Mini 2 (Rose). Was it a mistake? All I can say is I found a disturbing new problem but it's not what you think it may be... So today, we wanted to take Rose out and install the newest DJI Fly App Update 1.15.5. In this video we did just that, but we also included a special DJI Mini 4 Pro (Dwight) appearance for a viewer comment test suggestion. So that's a bonus, right? All I can say is we weren't surprised by the results of the Fly app update 1.15.5, but we were surprised by the viewer test suggestion results. Hint: You, too could be infected with the Rocket virus in your DJI Mini 2 and /or DJI Mini 4 Pro... Watch and find out how contagious this could be or if you are immune...
I didn't realize how much fun this Mini Drone Killer was gonna be until I got it in the air the first time. What's even more surprising? All the features worked!!! Too bad we had so much wind... We were contacted by Ameta a while back and they asked if we'd be interested in testing out their S20 Lite Beginner drone. Any time I get a chance to test out a "Mini Drone Killer" I'm in... I really wasn't expecting this mini drone killer to be so much fun but Ameta could have a real future in the drone business. We took this Ameta S20 Lite out on one of the windiest days we've had recently and with this drone weighing less than 150 grams, it probably wasn't the best decision. But we did it anyway. We tested out several features for this test including the 200 meter distance limit test, auto launch / land, emergency motor stop function, circle function, normal and sport modes, and even FLIPS! Yes, this drone does flips. Now that was fun...
Have you been looking for a Mini drone killer? Well, we have found one but it's HUGE so we think it could be a Mini drone CRUSHER!!! We were contacted by a company called VEENIIX asking if we would be interested in testing out one of their newest mini drone killers, the Veeniix V11 Pro. I saw the pictures and the specs and immediately accepted their invitation because who doesn't want to see a Mini Drone Killer in action? If you said anything but "Yes" you're not a very honest person... Today we took the Veeniix V11 Pro out and tested it out to see how it competes with the other Mini Killer drones we've tested over the past several months. I have to say, my initial impressions are definitely positive; however, mistakes were made...
I'm very disappointed in DJI at the moment. I was forced to install the latest Fly App Update in my DJI Mini 4 Pro. Why, DJI? Why? For those of you who have been watching our channel for any length of time, you are aware that I have been avoiding updating the DJI Mini 4 Pro for a couple of pretty specific and meaningful reasons. First, I really don't like the new display of the height and distance meters at the bottom of the DJI Fly App Update screen and secondly, the new Active Track feature is way too busy for my taste. I like the minimalist type look of the older Fly App Update screens and apparently I simply don't like change... Anyway, all of my stubbornness came to an end for this video because I was forced to install the newest Fly App Update and Mini 4 Pro Firmware update without any option to cancel or reject it. What started all of this? Stick around and see the simple mistake I may have made to earn this forced update and maybe figure out a way to avoid it.
I'm amazed! DJI released yet another Fly App Update! Let's get this thing installed and see what they fixed! Plus, there's a weird contraption on top of my Mini drones that not everyone understands. What is it? Well, just as I was finishing up last week's video, you know, the one where DJI forced me to install a Fly App Update on the DJI Mini 4 Pro (Dwight), I saw another Fly App Update come across my phone for the 1.15.8 update. When will this end? Probably never, so I may as well install it in the Mini 2 and test it, right? Today, we're still in West Virginia (USA) and we go to the Hannibal Dam area to try this new DJI Fly App Update 1.15.8 out on the DJI Mini 2 (Rose). I'm not expecting anything spectacular but who knows? DJI may have implemented something that will simply blow my socks off, eh? Ok, probably not, but it's worth a try. Stick around and see what happens (if anything). Did this update fix anything that was broken?
DJI has let us down, guys. They've refused to fix a Mini 4 Pro problem for the last several Fly App and Firmware updates so, we took matters into our own hands... Several weeks ago, DJI introduced a new DJI Mini 4 Pro firmware update and it caused a few problems for a lot of DJI Mini 4 Pro drone pilots. I mean, these problems weren't huge or life altering, but they were pretty inconvenient and irritating. Anyway, today's video, we may have a solution for at least one of these problems and of course we didn't come up with it on our own. We were contacted by a viewer who offered a "work around" and I gotta say, IT WORKED!!! So, if you've been experiencing gimbal problems with your DJI Mini 4 Pro when you're trying to perform the Rocket quickshot, stick around, you may be impressed... Not with us, with the viewer who figured this out...
Are you experiencing a DJI Mini 4 Pro glitch? There's several out there right now, but I think we found another one. So, is this Mini 4 Pro feature a glitch or is it supposed to be like this? We went out today with Dwight, our DJI Mini 4 Pro, with all intent to find the "Coolest Drone Shot in the World," and we may have done that, but when we showed up to the bridge to start the drone test, something caught my attention. TRAINS!!! I started talking to the camera to introduce today's topic and I heard a train horn behind me. It reminded me of a comment we received several months ago from S-Teamwork asking us to try and "Active Track" a steam train. Well, here's our chance! I sort of "aborted" our original plan to see how the DJI Mini 4 Pro's Active Track feature would do with a moving train and immediately discovered there may be an unknown Mini 4 Pro glitch raising its ugly head here. So, what happened? Watch the video and find out.
The DJI Mini 4 Pro is arguably the best drone ever produced by DJI, so why has it been ignored for the last several updates? Our channel, along with many other channels have brought problems with the DJI Mini 4 Pro to the attention of DJI over the past few months, but what are they doing about it? Well, it seems like NOTHING... Today we want to address a problem that's been persistent with the DJI Mini 4 Pro over the past few Fly App Updates as well as try to duplicate another potential Mini 4 Pro problem brought up by one of our viewers. We also want to try to implement another solution suggested by another viewer to fix the original DJI MIni 4 Pro problem, the infamous Rocket Quick Shot camera debacle. Well, I don't want to bring up a spoil alert, but long story short, the DJI Mini 4 Pro still has problems. Which ones? Stick around and find out...
We've possibly found the newest Mini Drone Killer and this one seriously has a chance to hold the title... Introducing the Holyton HT-70! We are on a "crusade" trying to find the latest and greatest mini and oversized mini drones which we can deem a "Mini Drone Killer" or "Mini Drone Crusher". We've had some different experiences with some different companies over the past couple of years, some good, some bad and some GREAT. Well, this one falls into the category of GREAT, alongside some other brands like Potensic, Holy Stone, Ruko and even everyone's favorite or least favorite, DJI... We were contacted by Holy Stone and were informed they were working with Holyton on their newest drone, the Holyton HT-70. This is an oversized mini drone that weighs around 360 grams so it may actually be more like a "Mini Drone Crusher" but it's so close to the 250 gram mark, I'd say it can go in either column. We accepted Holy Stone's offer and decided to give this drone a test...
Shockingly DJI has provided a new Fly App Update for the DJI mini drones along with all the other drones that use the Fly App. Well, it's not surprise but there's even more problems now... Is it too much to ask DJI to provide a Fly App Update that fixes our problems? Maybe it's gonna take a firmware update to get all of these problems with the DJI Mini 4 Pro taken care of but either way, come on DJI! Get on that... I wonder why the DJI Mini 2 drone doesn't have the same problems... Oh, that's right. The Mini 2 has lost its support from DJI so they aren't messing with it. Now that's ironic, isn't it?
Have you been looking for the best 12 volt fridge of 2025? Set Power may be the answer you've been looking for. This RV65D model was released by Set Power within the last couple of months and it's already proven itself to be one of the best 12 volt fridges on the market. We were contacted by Set Power regarding their new HUGE 68 quart "Car Fridge" and they asked if we'd be interested in testing it out on our channel. I suddenly realized there was a chance that I may never have to put my hands in another cooler filled with melted ice and this could be just the solution we've been looking for since I was born! Ok, let's not get dramatic, Kevin, but you know what I mean. We agreed to the collaboration with Set Power and they sent us this RV65D fridge/freezer dual zone car fridge to provide an honest review. So, have you been looking for the best 12 volt fridge of 2025? This may be the one, guys so sit back, relax and enjoy the show.
Have you been experiencing drone drift lately? Whether it's a DJI Mini 4 Pro, Mini 2, Mini 3 Pro, Neo, Flip or any of the other amazing DJI drones out there, We may have the solution you've been looking for. We've been having these drone drift problems for a long time and mostly if affects our DJI Mini 2 drones (Jack and Rose), but sometimes our DJI Mini 4 Pro (Dwight) has the problem, too... We've tried getting answers from DJI but have met with uncertainty at every turn and have been told repeatedly it's normal. Well, if it's normal, why does it not happen with every flight? With every drone? The last time we experienced drone drift was when we flew Rose in West Virginia and she began immediately drifting to the left as she headed toward the Hannibal Dam. See, normally we handle this problem by doing a IMU calibration but this time it didn't work. Welll, one of you awesome viewers reached out with another way to tackle this drone drift problem.
We've been looking into lithium battery chargers ever since we were the victim of a scam... Yes, we fell for a knock off converter charger when we installed a lithium battery in our camper, but this lithium battery charger from LiTime could solve our problems... A couple months ago, we installed a 300 amp hour lithium battery in our 2017 Rockwood camper and we learned through the process that we needed up upgrade the converter that came with the camper from lead acid to lithium compatibility. Long story short (depending on who's reading this), we did our due diligence and researched the crap out of lithium converter chargers and found an exact replacement for our set up. This lithium converter was listed on Amazon as the same brand, model number, amperage and size as the one we needed to replace.
It seems like we are bringing a new DJI Mini 4 Pro Problem to light almost weekly now and frankly, I'm tired of it. DJI has to do better with our Mini 4 Pro drones. I know there are some limitations but this would be easily fixed... We flew Dwight, our beloved DJI Mini 4 Pro a couple weeks ago for the DJI Fly App 1.16.0 update and like normal, I screwed a few things up during that video. I definitely learned a lot from the comments on that video as I normally do but that follow up is for another video. Today's video isn't about something I screwed up for once. It's about something DJI may have screwed up. I'm not saying DJI is intentionally ignoring the DJI Mini 4 Pro or any drones for that matter, but their attention may be focused on the wrong thing (i.e. new drone releases).
Guys, when I say the latest Mini Drone Killer has arrived, I mean it. This one is IMPRESSIVE! I know a lot of times it seems like we cry wolf when we find the next mini drone killer, but seriously today, I think we have found one that has a chance to go all the way. Introducing the Potensic Atom 2. Potensic has been diligently working to improve their previous drone, the Potensic Atom, and they've made some drastic upgrades to their new Atom 2 drone. This drone is in the mini class as it weighs less than 250 grams but don't let its size fool you. IT'S AWESOME! Potensic has improved not only the transmission capabilities, the live view, image quality and digital zoom, but they've added some features like dolly zoom, advanced AI tracking and yes, waypoints... One thing I really appreciate about Potensic is that even though they've improved this whole set up (you should see the controller!) they've stayed true with their original battery system.
Have you had recent DJI Mini 4 Pro problems with updates lately? I know we have, but one of our viewers came up with a "weird" solution that I never would've thought of... You gotta see how we solved another one of DJI's problems. Recently DJI released the DJI Fly App Update 1.16.0 and along with that came an update with the Fly Safe Database. Well, when I was in the process of updating the RC2 controller and our DJI Mini 4 Pro, the drone became increasingly warm and activated the ECO mode which apparently helps keep the Minin 4 Pro cooler while it sits idle awaiting these types of updates. Unfortunately, when the Mini 4 Pro entered ECO mode, the updates were disabled. I tried repeatedly to install the updates, but the Mini 4 Pro entered ECO Mode each time and the updates were stopped dead in their tracks. I was finally able to install the 1.16.0 Fly App Update, but the Fly Safe Database update was never successful.
How many DJI Mini 4 Pro secrets are out there floating around, waiting to be discovered? Well, there's one less because we just found it! Watch and see how we put this secret in the spotlight... We've been flying the DJI Mini 4 Pro (Dwight) for well over a year and a half now and he still amazes me every time we go out for a flight. Yea, we've had our ups and downs, problems and solutions, perfect flights and crashes, but the Mini 4 Pro is still an amazing drone to this day. Recently we've been putting the Mini 4 Pro though its paces and have discovered some issues that DJI seems to be ignoring. We don't know if DJI is intentionally ignoring these problems or if it's something they're working on for the latest DJI Fly App Update, but either way, we've been on a mission lately to find solutions to make the Mini 4 Pro flying experience that much better. Oh, did I neglect to mention all of our ideas seem to come from you, the viewers?
DJI's new 1.16.4 Fly App Update has proven to be one of the most "special" Fly App Updates in months, but why? Is it really that special to be able to update the home point on the fly? I think it's been blown out of proportion and after this video you may agree with me... Hey, guys. Today, we are venturing out in the high winds of Florida to test out the latest DJI Fly App Update version 1.16.4. It's been hyped up all over the world for some reason because DJI has added a new feature. I do think it's cool that they added the short cut for this update home point feature and don't get me wrong, it's a nice addition, but is it really that big of a deal? Well, we aren't necessarily going to focus on that new feature today. We will demonstrate it along with all of our normal Fly App Update video signature tests, but what I'm curious about comes in the later part of this video. I'm talking about the part of the title that says Mini 2 vs Mini 4 Pro. Is that intriguing to you?
We've found the newest Mini Drone Killer and I think this thing can make even me look like a real drone pilot! How? Watch and see... This new Mini Drone Killer, the Gleesfun G11PRO, isn't just a poser, this drone is the real deal and we may have yet again found another drone that could take the title of Mini Drone Killer. Actually this will be more of another Mini Drone Crusher as it weighs more than 250 grams, so here in the USA it will need to be registered with the FAA, but that's not as big of a deal as some may think. Anyway, getting back to the point at hand here, Gleesfun reached out and asked if we'd review one of their new drones, the G11PRO, and specifically asked if we could focus on the cinematic abilities of the drone while giving an honest, totally non influenced opinion. We agreed and we received the G11PRO pretty fast. As soon as I opened the box, I knew this drone was something special. I mean, it's green!!!
It's been a while since we did a DJI Mini 2 wind test and maybe that's with good reason. This test really wasn't a good idea and we almost paid the price... This story begins with a trip down memory lane when we released a video demonstrating the DJI Fly App Update 1.16.4 on the Mini 4 Pro (Dwight). That day was a pretty harrowing day with the winds and horrible weather, but we persisted on and ran the test anyway. Well, the result was we could have easily lost Dwight and been Mini 4 Pro-less at the end of the day. Fortunately, the Mini 4 Pro held on and made it home safe and sound. Well, that day, I was supposed to fly our DJI Mini 2 (Rose) as well to see how the Fly App Update 1.16.4 worked with her. Long story short? I chickened out and packed Rose up without testing her out... Was that a good decision? I thought so, especially for that day, but you guys obviously had other thoughts on the matter.
Have you ever wanted to make your DJI Mini 4 Pro fly faster? Me too! So I tried this suggestion out and guess what happened! Watch and see of course... Lately we've been flying our DJI Mini 4 Pro (Dwight) a lot more than the DJI Mini 2 (Rose) so we felt it would be a fair thing today to fly both drones. Yes, this may make the video a little longer but don't blame me, blame Carl... Oh, Carl is the viewer who came up with this crazy idea on how to "possibly" make the Mini 4 Pro and even the Mini 2 fly faster! I've seen a lot of tricks and tips on how to make your drone faster, but I've never seen this. Hold onto your seat, kids, this could be a bumpy ride... Ok, with all that said, we want to thank everyone for watching and taking the time to comment on all of our DJI Mini 4 Pro, Mini 2 and Fly App Update videos lately... We've seen an uptick in the number of comments and to me that means our community is growing.
Have you checked your DJI Fly App Account lately? It seems as though DJI may have too much control and they can apparently log you out of your Fly App Account without your knowledge... Several months ago, we released a video showing that DJI had forced me to install a series of updates in our DJI Mini 4 Pro (against my will mind you) including a Fly App Update, a Firmware Update and even an RC Update. I had no interest in installing these updates as I wasn't too keen on their new appearance so I avoided them for several weeks. It all started when I turned on the Mini 4 Pro (Dwight) and realized somehow the Fly App Account had been logged out for some reason and upon logging back in, the Mini 4 Pro automatically initiated all these updates without me having any input at. I was pretty irritated needless to say, but I figured there wasn't anything I could do about it so I didn't contact DJI.
Have you ever flown your DJI Mini 4 Pro while sitting inside your vehicle? Why would you do such a dangerous thing? Don't you know you will never maintain a good signal inside that metal box? Well, ever since we bought our first DJI Mini 2 drone, we've flown while sitting inside our vehicle but the main question is, "How is your signal strength sitting in your vehicle?" We've repeatedly been asked this question on so many videos we've released I've lost count and honestly I've ran out of different ways to answer the question. So, I figured it was time to address this popular question with a video all its own. Yes, we've addressed this question in the past with our DJI Mini 4 Pro (Dwight) and we've even released a couple videos in the past demonstrating flying from your vehicle with our DJI Mini 2 drones. But sometimes you just have to repeat a test and post the results, whether it's the same. You never know. The results could easily change so I guess we better get to it..
Have you heard of the Hovsco Hovranger? This could be the perfect e-bike and it's so fast it may be able to outrun the infamous DJI Mini 4 Pro drone... Wanna see? Hovsco contacted us a few weeks ago asking if we'd be interested in reviewing one of their best e bikes they've designed, the Hovsco Hovranger Mountain E bike. Looking at this bike it's really hard to recognize it as an e bike and that's one of the best features in my humble, We're the Roberts, unprofessional opinion. This e bike has regular tires like most other mountain bikes and it sort of blends into the background for people on the outside, but if you're the one riding it? Yea, it's pretty amazing and I dare say, nearly perfect... You may remember Hovsco from several months ago when we reviewed one of their Pro Max E Scooters. That was a whole lot of fun and it's really held up over the past months in every way, and trust me, it's been ridden a lot...
Do you know the latest DJI Secret? DJI has control over every drone flight you take a you may not even know it. But first, let me explain... As most of you watching this video know, our channel thrives on viewer comments and without them, my bet is our channel would dissolve in a matter of weeks. That's why I do my best to respond to each and every comment we receive because we believe if you, the viewer, made the effort of reaching out to us, you deserve a response because your time is just as valuable as ours, and my bet is it's probably more valuable. I mean, what do I really do? Anyway... Several months ago, I dare say maybe 2 years ago, we received a viewer comment informing us of a limitation he experienced with his DJI Mini 2 drone when his account was logged out. So what did we do? We did a test logging out Rose (our DJI Mini 2) and I sent her out for a test flight to see if she experienced the same height and distance limitations.
We just discovered a DJI Mini 4 Pro secret setting I thought would never exist. I wonder if I'm the last to know about it... DJI has so many secret settings in the RC2 controller and the DJI Fly App, it's hard to keep track... BUT this one is a game changer! In this week's video, we tackle 2 different tests all while camping at a State Park in South Carolina. As most of you know, we started our 6 month extended camping trip a week or so ago, and we made it to our 2nd stop at Santee State Park in Santee, SC. All I can say about this campground is it was awesome and very relaxing. We got to see some wildlife and we camped really close to a huge lake in the area named Lake Marion. The camping trip continues until October so I'm sure we'll be staying at a lot of cool campgrounds along the way. My hope is that I get to fly at each and every campground we stay at during the entire trip... Ok, enough camping stuff. Let's get on with the purpose of today's video.
This illegal drone flight could cost you $10,000! Maybe even more. This is how I got away with it... We started a 6 month camping trip in April and it's already taken us into a lot of different amazing campgrounds and parks, all of which have some of the best sights you'd ever want to see with a drone. The only BIG problem is, some of these places prohibit drones so capturing the footage can be tricky. This week is a continuation of last week's video where we stayed at Santee State Park in Santee, SC. This place is situated by Lake Marion which is a huge lake known for its fishing and boating. Well, I want to make it known for its views from above. The only problem is, South Carolina prohibits drones within the State Park limits. BUT, did you know there's a way to get around illegal drone flights within SC State Parks?
It's finally here! Ruko has released a new Mini Drone Killer and I've been waiting for this for over 8 months since I flew the original version. That version (U11MINI) was nearly a Mini Drone Killer, but it had a fatal flaw; the camera. Did Ruko fix it? Guys, this drone, the Ruko U11MINI 4K, has been hyped up for nearly the past year and it's finally here. When we tested Ruko's first version, the Ruko U11MINI, I was blown away with most aspects of the drone including the stability, the maneuverability, the design, the control and even the picture quality. There was, however, one flaw I couldn't overlook. The camera was a 1 axis camera and no gimbal was attached so the footage was extremely shaky and unusable. I have to admit, it took fantastic pictures but the video quality? Forget about it. We gave that original Ruko U11MINI rave reviews with that one exception and Ruko took notice.
Well, guys, DJI has done it again. They've interrupted our regularly scheduled videos with a new DJI Fly App Update. And it wasn't even worth it! As you all know, we've recently embarked on our first of hopefully many, 6 month camping trip we've deemed the "Family Circle Camping Trip". We are traveling to a bunch of different states from Florida to West Virgina and Iowa and all points in between over the next several months and we are trying to keep things in order chronologically, but since DJI decided to release the newest drone, the Mavic 4 Pro, our world has been turned upside down. Ok that's a little dramatic, but you know what I mean. Does this fly app update make any difference? I have seen some other videos floating around out there that say DJI has fixed certain problems with the Mini 4 Pro, but then there are other videos saying the exact opposite... I know one thing. We'll know by the end of this video what DJI has done with this fly app update or what they haven't.
Am I wearing a jet pack? Nope! It's the most interesting, useful drone backpack you'll ever see. I promise... Coalax Lancer 300 affiliate link: https://noxl.ink/GVVnOx Discount Code: "NIAFC6117" (10% off up to $215) We were contacted by a company called Coalax who asked if we would be interested in testing and reviewing one of their latest products, the Lancer 300 backpack. Coalax calls this a camera bag, but I'm going to sort of tweak that classification and say for us, this is simply the most interesting drone backpack I've ever seen. Not only does this Coalax drone backpack have over 35 liters of storage area, the attachments you can add to this backpack and the uses of this thing are without end. Coalax offers a MOLLE attachment system, attached selfie sticks on both sides, multiple straps to use the removable bags in different ways, a 300 watt hour power station, 25 watt solar panel, and the list continues... All I can say is wow.
I think we just cracked the code on one of the secret Mini 4 Pro hacks DJI claimed was impossible. You may have already seen something about this on YouTube but we wanted to try it ourselves to make sure it would work with Dwight, our DJI Mini 4 Pro drone. I've heard mixed reviews on the importance of this hack but I do think it has its place... So I'm not going to spoil what happens in this video regarding this secret Mini 4 Pro hack, so let's move on to what happens next. We are covering 2 different topics today. The first is obviously the secret Mini 4 Pro hack, but the second one is something that may or may not work. We received an email from a viewer asking us to try a dolly zoom with the DJI Mini 4 Pro but not in a traditional sense. He asked us to try a dolly zoom from above. How have I never thought of this? So, did it work? Watch and see. :)
Have you noticed your DJI Mini 4 Pro Special Mode (Nifty Mode) is acting weird? I'm not sure if it's supposed to do this or if it's normal. You tell me... We have never flown in Nifty Mode with the DJI Mini 4 Pro (Dwight) and today's the day to that all changes. We got a comment a while back from a viewer asking us if we noticed the obstacle avoidance sensors being a little too sensitive nowadays... I can say I haven't seen them specifically acting weird or anything, but I do remember an incident where I was trying to land Dwight and I was standing a bit too close to the truck. When Dwight started his decent to land, he detected the truck, moved away from my hand and stopped in his tracks. Well, today, we test this out and see if we notice anything different or if it's just the way it is... I'm no expert so I'll probably be confused regarding the results so I may need you guys to explain to me if you think there's a problem or if this whole video is click bait. Hmmmm..
Introducing the new and improved budget e scooter that's taking the industry by storm... Caroma E22 Pro. This is a real winner, guys... We were contacted by Caroma a while back and they asked us if we'd be interested in testing out one of their new and improved budget e scooters, the E22 Pro. From what I've seen, Caroma has made some improvements that definitely make this budget e scooter stand out from the others. From assembly to the maiden ride, to storage and transport, this Caroma E22 Pro E Scooter has it all. Watch and see for yourself if you agree and if you do, check out the link below to learn more about it. As most of you know who are watching this video, on our channel we fly drones primarily and of course we had to incorporate our DJI Mini 4 Pro in this video, just to keep things real, right? Well, in this video, we pursue the scooter with a DJI Mini 4 Pro drone and see just what it's made of. I have to say, it's impressive and really a lot of fun to ride.
I think everyone knows the this DJI forgotten drone, the Phantom 4 Pro. Has DJI written this drone off forever or does it still work? Several months ago, we "test drove" a DJI Phantom 4 Pro that belonged to a buddy and we heard through the grapevine that another friend of ours had one for sale. Well, that friend gave us first dibs on his amazing Phantom 4 Pro drone and we jumped at the chance to take it off the market. We had heard rumors that this drone may be forgotten by DJI in the near future, but we thought it could be worth the risk. I mean, the Phantom 4 Pro for $500??? Heck yea! Anyway, we hadn't used the Phantom 4 Pro much since we bought it and we certainly needed to introduce it to the channel and today is the day. We received a comment from a viewer who owns several Phantom 3 drones and he informed us that DJI had recently stopped supporting the DJI Phantom series including his Phantom 3 drones.
Vevor WiFi Weather Station: https://s.vevor.com/bfRROe (5% Code: VEVT5) Are you a drone pilot who needs to know the weather? Well, this Vevor Weather Station could be exactly what you need and it could save your drone. Maybe... Hey guys. We were contacted by Vevor recently and were asked if we'd be interested in trying out one of their best selling weather stations and for me it was a no brainer. I mean, what dedicated, awesome drone pilot doesn't need to know the weather conditions before heading out for a flight? Also, what dedicated, awesome Rv'er doesn't need to know about the same weather conditions? Both hobbies are directly related to weather and let's face it, if the weather is bad, who wants to do either? Ok, so this Vevor 7 in 1 weather station has so many different displays it's hard to keep track. Just looking at the display it comes with, it seems to me the number should be more like 9 or 10, not 7. It was easy to assemble and it was easy to figure out how.
Have you heard anything about DJI threatening to ground the Mini 4 Pro or kill the Mini 4 Pro? Or any drone they control? I did and that's what today's video is all about. So, a while ago, we released a video titled, "DJI Has Too Much Control" and in that video we covered a not so known topic regarding DJI drones flight controls when the drone is logged out of the DJI Fly App. If you didn't know, when a DJI drone is logged out of the DJI Fly App, that drone has some limitations not a lot of people are aware of. First, the height is limited to 97 feet and the distance from the homepoint the drone is permitted to fly is limited to 161 feet (give or take). I think that may be a bit of overreach for DJI to have that much control but even more, the controller doesn't record the flight data so if there's a problem, the pilot could be out of luck when needing to file a claim. Yes, you can say the pilot is responsible for making sure the drone is logged in and all that, but...
Have you ever heard of a DJI Secret Mode where you can fly your drone quietly? I call it stealth mode but it may not be what you think it is... A while ago, we released a video where I discovered something I never even noticed on the DJI Mini 4 Pro's RC2 controller. The "Mute" button. I had been flying the Mini 4 Pro ever since it was released back in September, 2023 and looked past that button every time I flew. Someone left a comment letting me know the mute button was there and what it did. I was shocked I never saw this thing before. Fast forward, we released a video demonstrating the use of the mute button and shockingly (not really) I was informed of yet another option I had never really paid attention to. Did you know there's a volume slide control option on that RC2 controller, also? Ok, you may have known it, but again, I didn't realize what it "may" control. So that's what today's video is all about. I love to fly these DJI drones.
Has the new DJI Fly App Update 1.17.4 fixed the lingering problems with the Mini 4 Pro? Well, it's complicated. Yes and no... Ok, let me explain... Several weeks ago, we interrupted our 6 month Family Circle camping trip while we were in North Carolina for the Fly App Update 1.17.1. In my mind, this was the Fly App Update that was going to fix it all. You see, the DJI Mini 4 Pro and the Mini 2 have had a couple problems over the past several months that DJI doesn't seem to care about but I thought for sure this latest update was the solution. Well, I couldn't have been more wrong and the problems persisted. Well, DJI has done it again. Yea, they came out with a new Fly App Update but they also interrupted our 6 month Family Circle camping trip yet again, this time while we are in Iowa. Will these problems be fixed this time? All I can say without giving away the end is yes and no. One problem seems fixed while the other is still in existence.
How many DJI Mini 4 Pro secret problems have we reviewed on our channel? I can't count that high, but it appears one problem may have been fixed without us even knowing it... A while back we tested the DJI Mini 4 Pro spotlight mode in a way nobody has in the past and we had some pretty awesome results, but not in a good way. I was curious how far away our DJI Mini 4 Pro (Dwight) could see our truck and stay locked on in Spotlight mode. Well, it seemed like the drone made it to about 1000 feet and then the truck icon changed to a GPS type pin. I was confused why it would do that but I wondered even more if the new GPS pin was still locked onto the truck. Would you believe when I moved Dwight forward the target was almost 500 feet away from the drone? I was shocked how far off it was and was pretty disappointed in the result. I tested the same thing again later on and had similar results. Later on, we received a comment form a viewer who asked if the GPS pin would be better.
How many Mini Drone Killer videos have we made where the drone was not worth our time? Well, this is different. You'll want to see this... Well, our 6 month long Family Circle Camping Trip has yet again been interrupted but this time, it's a positive thing. We have a new drone to test out. Holy Stone reached out to us a while back and asked if we'd want to review their newest release to the drone world, the HS790 GPS 6k drone. Guys, this could truly be a Mini Drone Killer and not just because it weighs over 250 grams. That could factor into it, but seriously, Holy Stone has really done their homework when it comes to their HS790 drone. Today, we head out to an undisclosed location in Iowa (remember, we're trying to keep our camping locations in chronological order) but the location isn't the story. We brought the Holy Stone HS790 drone with us and put it through some paces to see what it could do. Signal strength, maneuverability, stability, Return to Home function, accuracy
Do you have drone control issues? Have you crashed your drone even when it's just feet away? Well, if you implement this beginner drone hack, that'll NEVER happen again. Guys, this week's video covers more than just one topic so I hope you're ready for some adventure and maybe even a disappointment. We tried something new today that didn't work, but then we also tried something else new today that blew my mind... If this is your first stop at our channel, we want to welcome you and give you a little bit of a back story before we get into today's episode. One of our favorite ways to come up with video ideas comes from you, the viewers. We love when you guys leave us comments letting us know things you'd like to see us try on the channel, whether you're giving us test ideas, advice, questions and yes, even your constructive criticisms.. WE LOVE IT ALL!!! Well, today's video is no exception. Today, we are showcasing 2 different ideas that floated in on the comment section.
A month or so ago we tested out this Mini Drone Killer, The Ruko U11Mini4K, and had several problems. Well, Ruko deemed that drone was defective and they sent us another one to test out. Should we even give it a second chance? I say YES! Today, we brought the Ruko U11Mini4K (Mini Drone Killer) out to the Ohio River and finally gave it a second chance. On our first review video for this drone, we had so many problems and I didn't trust the drone to fly any further than 50 feet or so. We had the infamous toilet bowl issue, horrible transmission feed, crooked gimbal, erratic behavior and just overall instability. I let Ruko know how the "Mini Drone Killer" was acting and they did some research and determined the drone was in fact defective. They also sent us a new Ruko U11MIni4K drone and asked us to give it a second chance. Watch and see what happens today. Was it a success or was it another defective dud? You be the judge. I think I know which way you'll lean.
So you're looking for a DJI alternative? With their new Fly App Update, Potensic may be exactly what you're looking for. Their newest drone to the line up, the Atom 2, has just been given an upgrade and now it's even better than ever. Basically this new mini drone killer is the best mini drone killer we've tested on our channel. Potensic contacted me this past week and let me know they have several updates available for their Potensic Atom 2 drone, including the Potensic Eve fly app update, as well as Atom 2 firmware and controller firmware updates. The newest versions are Potensic Eve iOS 1.1.4 / Android 2.5.8, Aircraft Firmware V018 and RC Firmware V015. Some of the new features are only available on other way more expensive, top of the line drones and I think you'll be impressed with what Potensic has been able to do with this drone.
I've seen some dumb things implemented by DJI, but this Mini 4 Pro limitation has to be the one of the top 3 dumbest I've ever seen. I can't really think of a reason they would do this. Do you agree or am I missing something? There's all kinds of limitations implemented on the DJI Mini 4 Pro like height, distance, speed, sensors, photo features and the list goes on. But can someone please enlighten me as to why a specific Mini 4 Pro setting would have any influence or effect on what we demonstrated here? I think it's weird but I've also been known to not know what I'm talking about. Maybe it's normal for a video setting to interfere with the DJI Mini 4 Pro's abilities but I think DJI needs to readdress it and change things. I'm sure with the DJI drone ban looming in the USA still, this is the last thing on the minds of DJI executives, but once things get resolved, I hope they can put it on their to do list. Anyway, I don't want to give it away in the description.
Recently DJI disappeared from the USA stores so we have to ask, "Is there a return to home update on DJI?" Well, that's what we are exploring today. Yea, it has nothing to do with a DJI ban or anything like that. It has to do with the Return to Home automated flight... So, we recently got a couple comments from a viewer who asked us to test out the DJI Return to Home update option and see if it would help the drones (Mini 2 and Mini 4 Pro) get a little closer to the home point. I think it's worded a little different than that but you understand what I mean. Anyway, today, we decided to pit all 3 of our DJI drones against each other (Dwight - Mini 4 Pro and Jack and Rose - Mini 2 drones). All I can see is wait till you see what happened at 11:02 (or so). It's crazy how quickly things can change when you're flying a drone, isn't it? As always, we hope you all enjoyed the video and thank you so much for your continued support. We appreciate each and every one of you.
Are you tired of sucky drone footage? This simple hidden drone technique, known by most experts, will shock you and make your footage 100 times better... Recently I watched a video released by Idaho Quadcopter (Marcus Crawford) and was absolutely amazed by his skills. He decided it was a good idea to fly the DJI Mini 3 standard edition quickshot routes, manually. Seriously, Marcus? Manually? After watching him make these flights seem pretty much simple as can be, I wanted to try it myself. BUT I knew there was no way a novice pilot like myself could ever pull it off. That is until I discovered this easy hidden drone technique the experts simply won't share. So in today's video, I decided to go to a graveyard (I do my best flying at graveyards for some reason) and test this theory out for myself. I implemented this hidden drone technique (trick) and you won't believe the results. Did it help? Did it hurt? Did it make no difference? Well, I can say for sure.
We've been on the hunt for a Mini Drone Killer for a while now and this drone's special feature may just put it over the top. We were contacted by a company called Snaptain recently and were asked if we'd be interested in testing out their newest Mini Drone Killer, the P40 Lite. We were trying to research the company and came across only one review video on this little havoc creator which told me this drone was about as new on the market as it could get. After watching the review video (by Idaho Quadcopter), I knew I wanted to test this little thing out because Marcus gave it some really good marks. Guys, I found a special feature on this little drone that I'm sure will amaze you and make you want to try it yourself. I'm not going to give it away in the description here, mainly because I want you to watch the video and see for yourself how crazy this design is. All I can say is Snaptain seems to have hit it out of the park here with their newest Mini Drone Killer.
Have you ever made an illegal drone flight? Whether intentional or not, the consequences can be catastrophic and can cost you a ton of money, and even worse, put you behind bars... Try this method before each flight and avoid JAIL! We are still on our 6 month long Family Circle Camping Trip of 2025 and this video finds us deep in the country of Ohio. We really didn't like this campground much because there were a couple of issues, but it definitely could have been worse. In today's video, we showcase a few viewer's comments and do our best to hep all of you avoid making illegal drone flights whether you mean to or whether you simply don't know the rules. Flying a drone is a lot of responsibility now a days and with all the negative publicity the drone community has been getting lately, we wanna encourage each of you to learn the rules and keep us out of the spotlight... Ok, enough of the soap box. Let's have some drone fun!!!
Guys, we've just entered a whole new world with this RC Helicopter, and this could end in one of two ways: fun or death... Let's find out how this goes... We were contacted by Razordon and introduced to the world of RC helicopters and I couldn't be more excited. I have wanted to fly a helicopter ever since I was a kid. Kristi says I'm still a kid so this sounds like the perfect time to learn. From what I've researched, RC helicopters aren't the easiest thing to fly so this Yu Xiang F07 Huey RC helicopter is going to be the best way to learn. It's a beginner friendly RC helicopter with gyro-stabilization and although it's not a GPS type chopper, the internal stabilization is sufficient to keep it calm in the air and help us rookies learn how to fly without worrying about sudden loss of control and impact with the ground. I've had my fair share of crashes with drones and they're supposed to be easier to fly than RC helicopters.
Ok, guys. You asked for it so today, we're trying the Mini 4 Pro vs Phantom 4 Pro head on against each other. Which one will give way and which one will stand firm? A while ago we released a video comparing the Nifty vs Normal modes with the DJI Mini 4 Pro (Dwight). Well, we had some really good, definitive results with that test and received a bunch of great feedback from you guys. That test spawned some questions about additional testing and we're here to oblige, so hold onto your seats, kids... We may crash a couple drones today. I'm of course not going to give away what the test is about today, but I will let you know it's got to do with obstacle avoidance and this is going to be the "Old vs New" technology in that the "New" Mini 4 Pro vs the "Old" Phantom 4 Pro. Sound interesting? Stick around and find out who reigns supreme and whether we really need the new technology anymore... Also, we're still on our 6 month long Family Circle Camping trip.
We love to test the Return to Home feature, but is it now broken? And does DJI even care? Don't trust your Mini 4 Pro RTH feature until you see this... We have done about a million tests with the DJI Mini 4 Pro and Mini 2 drones when it comes to the return to home feature and most of the time, all the drones seem to work properly with no issues. That is until now... We released a video last year some time and it spawned a question from a viewer regarding the validity of the return to home feature and if it works the way it's supposed to. Well, that's what today's video is all about. We're taking the DJI Mini 4 Pro out to a pond and we're going to see if the Return to Home feature works properly, or if there's a glitch... Keep your fingers crossed that Dwight (our DJI MIni 4 Pro) comes home and doesn't end up at the bottom of the pond...
Have you heard the latest DJI Mini 4 Pro update? Rumor is DJI may have officially grounded its flights if you don't do what they want you to do... Let's see if it's true... We are always trying to do tests suggested by our viewers and today is no exception. Over the past several months, we've received several comments telling us that DJI could ground your DJI Mini 4 Pro if you don't do exactly what they say in the order they say to do it. Does that sound like overreach? Yea, I thought so. Let's put this Mini 4 Pro update to the test and see if it's true or if it's simply speculation or rumors... As always we want to thank everyone for watching and taking the time to comment. We truly appreciate all of your suggestions and advice and being as unprofessional as they come, we can use all the help we can get.
If you've followed us at all, you know we've been wanting to say, "DJI LOST" for a lot of months. We're on a quest to find the greatest mini drone killer out there, and guess what. DJI lost! We've made dozens of videos with budget type drones over the past couple years from companies like Ruko, Holy Stone, Potensic, Gleesfun, Holyton, Aspexel and others I've forgotten... We have come close in the past and several have shown a lot of promise so we know it's inevitable that it's gonna happen in a way that leaves not questions unanswered. DJI lost... When we say "Mini Drone Killer" we aren't necessarily referring to DJI but that's what the majority of people believe. I'm not going to disagree with their assumption, but that's what it is. An assumption... That may not always be a good thing. Anyway, as you all know, our channel thrives on viewer comments and test suggestions and today's no exception. We were contacted by a viewer who asked us to fly the Gleesfun G11Pro drone
Are you ready for this drone showdown? We've pitted 5 drones against each other to find out which one reigns supreme and which one is a big fat loser... For this video we have a special guest helping us out, mainly because my DJI drones are limited and we needed some extra DJI drones to help with this ultimate drone showdown. Ok, that may not be totally true, but he did supply 3 of the 5 drones being featured in this video so, Thanks, Jason! Oh, did I mention it's Jason from JJ's Lifted Horizons? Jason drove his camper from Michigan to Iowa to meet up with us so we could raise some hate and discontent. Not really, but he did tow his camper to meet us at the Adventureland Campground in Altoona, Iowa so we could hang out and have some fun. While we were at the campground, Jason and I hung out while Kristi ran away to her mom's house. She was scared so she ditched us... Anyway, for today's video, we pitted 5 DJI drones against each other.
Have you heard the newest DJI Secret? Yea, this is proof they still have control over pretty much every flight you make with your DJI drones... Several months ago, we released a video similar to this title and I was told it was probably click bait so I figured we'd do it again. Anyway, we are testing something today we've tested in the past (sort of) but this week's test is being done in a different manner. We do know the DJI drones all have height and distance limitations when the drone operator's DJI account is logged out. But do those limitations also apply to quickshots and other flights with these drones? That's what we're here to find out... I think you'll be surprised at the results... In this test we are using our DJI Mini 4 Pro (Dwight) and we'll do our best to expose this DJI secret. You decide if it's a big deal or if it's just part of flying drones...
The Mini 4 Pro Update home point option is awesome but does it come with some problems DJI won't address? Maybe so let's test it and find out... The DJI Mini 4 Pro drone was released a couple years ago and now the Mini 5 Pro has been released but not here in the USA. Needless to say, we won't be getting a DJI Mini 5 Pro, at least not until it's readily available from DJI to us with the care/refresh program in tact (that'll never happen now). But if it's never available to all of us here in the USA by DJI, that's ok. We can always rely on the Mini 4 Pro, right? We tested our DJI Mini 4 Pro update home point option several weeks ago while we were in West Virginia and had some really bad results. Actually we tested both of our DJI Mini 2 drones, too and they seemed to perform a lot better than the Mini 4 Pro did. Was it a glitch for the day or is it something that will persist? Watch and find out...
Have we found the top 2025 E-Bike of the year? This SizzleBK S200 foldable e-bike may be exactly what you've been looking for. We were contacted by SizzleBK recently and asked if we would like to test out one of their latest e-bikes and to top it off, this one is a foldable e-bike. This bike seems to have it all with 4 inch wide fat tires, fenders, a back storage rack and it also has a foldable design. Well, today, we decided to take this foldable e-bike out for a spin and see what it really has to offer. I put the DJI Neo drone up in the air and chased the 2025 e-bike of the year around to see if it could outrun the drone and to get different views of the e-bike from all angles. We really had a good time riding this foldable e-bike and was pleasantly surprised by its capabilities. Stick around to see what happens and how the e-bike impressed us during this maiden ride...
We did an initial review on this Mini Drone Killer already, but today we take things a step further with the hidden secret feature it has... This was a lot of fun to test... All I can say is Snaptain seems to have hit it out of the park here.
Are you new to RC helicopter flying? Look no further. This RC helicopter is the one you've been looking for... We were contacted by StirlingKit who asked if we'd be interested in testing out their newest RC helicopter model, the F11N Apache. Before the ink dried on the email, I responded to them and said, "Heck yea!" You see, I'm about as new to RC helicopters as you are and have been looking for RC helicopters that make flying as simple as flying a drone. Well, this is the one... This is giving our DJI Mini 4 Pro (Dwight) a run for his money regarding enjoyment of flight... Today we decided to take the StirlingKit F11N Apache helicopter out for its maiden flight and we brought someone with us. He's been with us on several videos in the past and each time we have a great experience and a lot of fun. Watch and see who this "visitor" is and trust me, you won't want to miss him flying this RC helicopter... I know there's no need to mention this but it wasn't as smooth.
Are you looking for a DJI Mini 2 upgrade that will help you fly safer and provide you with a way to capture better footage? You NEED this!!! Plus it works with any drone! For years now we've been plagued with the infamous iPhone dim screen problem while flying our drones. Well, no more! We've found a tablet we can fly our DJI Mini 2 drones with and never experience that dreaded dim screen again. With this simple Mini 2 upgrade, we'll also be able to fly more freely because we can see the screen! We recently bought a Hugerock X7 tablet from Amazon and although it wasn't a cheap investment, it's probably the best upgrade we've ever made for any of our drones. For today's video, we are going to demonstrate how useful this Hugerock X7 tablet is and how it can not only be used as a DJI Mini2 Upgrade, it can be used with any drone where the pilot needs to use a device as a flight screen. Awesome stuff!!!
Potensic has just released a major upgrade for their number one drone, the Atom 2. The Atom 2 is one of those drones that’s best described as a beginner-friendly drone with versatile features. Combine this drone with this new PTD-1 controller with a built-in screen and it’s a total game changer. When Potensic contacted us and said they were in the process of releasing a new controller with a built-in screen, I was flabbergasted. I thought to myself, "This is a huge upgrade, and it may just change the game as we see it." Well, after testing the new PTD-1 controller out for myself, I can agree with myself. This thing is AWESOME! Potensic actually took the time to listen to their customers when asked about the future of the company and they took the customers' advice on a way to move even closer to their competitors and quite frankly, surpass them all. This new controller opens up a whole new door to the way we can fly the Potensic Atom 2 and hopefully future drones they produce.
We wondered if a mirror would cause so many DJI Mini 4 Pro Problems, that the drone would crash land... Wait till you see what happened... We love when viewers leave comments and suggestions asking us to try different tests with our drones. Well, today is no exception and we did just that. Today, we took our DJI Mini 4 Pro (Dwight) out for another fun filled day of tests and wanted to see if a mirror would cause problems for the DJI Mini 4 Pro. Will it crash land? Will it land at all? Will it even take off? Watch and see what happens. You may be surprised how our DJI Mini 4 Pro reacted to these potential problems...
Are you looking for a new remote ID module for your drone, RC helicopter or RC plane? Holy Stone has just released a new model and it could be a total game changer. Then again, it could be a BUST... You be the judge. Holy Stone reached out to us a couple weeks ago and let us know they were releasing a new model of their Remote ID module (HSRID02) and asked if we'd be interested in testing it out. We've been working with Holy Stone for the past couple of years and one thing they seem to do is always bring improvements with their newest models of drones and accessories so we were immediately intrigued as to what improvements were made with their remote ID modules... In today's video, we decided to take the new HSRID02 remote ID module out for its maiden flight and see how it stacked up against not only Holy Stone's competitors, but also against their original remote ID module, the HSRID01 model. Watch and see what happens. It wasn't as smooth as I hoped...
Guys, we officially found a problem DJI simply refuses to fix in this Mini 4 Pro vs Neo competition... DJI apparently doesn't care about the Mini 4 Pro anymore and that's obvious... Does the DJI Ban have anything to do with this? We received some comments a while back referring to some potential solutions to a problem the DJI Mini 4 Pro has had for several months, maybe even a year. Honestly I'm getting tired of dealing with it but I feel since DJI has seemingly given up on finding a solution for us lowly Americans (I can understand why they gave up on us though), I figure we need to persevere and come up with a solution ourselves... So, did we solve the problem? Watch and see...
This new ebike is AMAZING! I've never ridden an ebike of this caliber before and am really blown away by what PuckiPuppy has done with their new Golden R Pro Ebike... We were contacted by PuckiPuppy recently and asked if we'd be interested in testing out their new ebike, the Golden R Pro (Golden Retriever Pro). PuckiPuppy is a unique ebike company in that they name their ebikes after breeds of dogs... This model is the Golden Retriever Pro and I honestly think it's as good as it gets. The specs of the PuckiPuppy Golden R Pro are crazy and would you believe me if I told you it has dual motors? What? Yea, dual motors with up to 80 miles of range. Now, I'm not that gullible and know with me and the way I ride an ebike, I would never get that 80 miles of range, but if I got 30 miles of range, I would be ecstatic...
Why is our DJI Mini 4 Pro so loud? Is our Mini 4 Pro broken? I can't figure out why DJI can't seem to get this right... Today we are going to use 2 different viewer comments to try and solve 2 Mini 4 Pro problems we've been dealing with for months... I won't give you any spoiler alerts here in the description as to why I think our Mini 4 Pro may be broken but I will tell you the comments have really helped us narrow down the issues... If you want to find out what the Mini 4 Pro problems are, you'll have to watch the video... Oh, and yea, we're still on our 2025 Family Circle Camping Trip so congratulations, you get to watch the update on that, also... Intrigued?
Have you ever seen a video where the the DJI Neo VS Hoverair X1? Me neither... Ok yes I have, but never like this... You NEED to see this... Hey, guys. We were contacted by a company called PuckiPuppy and were asked if we would be interested in reviewing one of their newest E-bikes, the Golden R Pro. As soon as I started looking into the bike, I knew I wanted to try it so we agreed. We released a video last week reviewing the PuckiPuppy Golden R Pro e-bike which leads us to today's video. Today, we're going to chase ourselves on the Golden R Pro with both the DJI Neo and the Hoverair X1 drones... Which one will take the better video? Which one will take the best pictures? Which one will keep up and which one will potentially crash and burn? Watch and see how this unfolds... We want to thank PuckiPuppy for sending us this amazing Golden R Pro e-bike and for giving us the perfect opportunity to test out our new DJI Neo against the old and reliable Hoverair X1 drone...
Mokwheel has just released a new ebike, well it's a modified version of the original Besalt ST, but it's like no other ebike I've ever ridden... You gotta see this... Mokwheel reached out and asked if we'd be interested in testing out their latest ebike, the all new, upgraded Mokwheel Besalt ST 2.0. As soon as I began researching the company and seeing the quality they release, it was a no brainer (not that I have much of one anyway) and we said, "Yes, please." I was pretty excited about checking this new ebike out and taking it out for the first ride so that's what we did here today. This new ebike seems to have it all and its quality is way better than I was expecting. From the packaging to the completely assembled, ebike, I was blown away.
Do you enjoy our DJI Mini 4 Pro Return to Home tests? Well, since you said yes, today is your lucky day... Let's get going! We love using Dwight, our DJI Mini 4 Pro, for return to home flight tests because it seems like no matter what, something always goes wrong. Well, today is no exception... A few weeks ago, we tested the DJI Mini 4 Pro return to home function and it seemed something was amiss... It seemed like when Dwight was in the optimal return to home mode, he would raise up at least 10 feet above his starting height before or during his return to home flight. Is this normal?
Have we found the newest Mini Drone Killer of 2025? The Snaptain P30 Pro could be just what you're looking for if you're looking for a Snaptain P30 Pro... Yea, explain that... Snaptain reached out a few weeks ago and asked if we'd test and review their new sub 250 gram model P30 Pro mini drone. We've been looking for a Mini Drone Killer for a couple years now and when we saw this one come across our email, I knew we needed to give it a try. One thing to mention, though, is this sub 25 gram mini drone doesn't have a gimbal so don't be disappointed when you aren't able to capture true cinematic video. But that's not really what this kind of drone is for, right? I think we've come up with a great way to use a drone like this Snaptain P30 Pro and hopefully you agree. The only problem I had during today's flight was I kept crashing... Was it the drone's fault or was it user error as usual? You be the judge...
So DJI lost but they also won... How is that possible? Well, it has nothing to do with a DJI drone ban if that's what you're thinking. I guess you'll have to watch and see what we're talking about... As most of you know who watch our videos (and especially those of you who take the time to read the descriptions) our channel thrives on viewer comments. If it wasn't for the viewer comments, our channel would have never made it to 1000 subscribers, let alone made it to where we are today, so for that, we have to thank each and every one of you who have taken part in that... If it wasn't for you, the title may not be DJI Lost, but rather We're the Roberts SUCKS! Well, the latter may still be true, but that's another video topic all together... Ok, on with today's video stuff... We recently did a couple tests with our DJI Mini 4 Pro (Dwight) regarding the Spotlight Mode and how accurate the pin is when it's locked onto our truck at a distance... Well, the results were mixed.
Yea, guys, we've done it now. We got a new drone and needed a drone backpack to store it in. Guess what drone it is... We recently bought a new drone and I was trying to figure out the best method of storing it as the bag that came with the new drone wasn't the best quality. I suddenly remembered we worked with Pekrews in the past with drone backpacks relating to the DJI Mini 2 and the Mini 4 Pro. Pekrews has a very cool design feature in that they produce drone backpacks with a removable foam insert that houses the drone and its accessories. That means you can remove the foam insert and replace it with a different insert for a different drone. Sounds like a genius invention to me and that's why it fits so well with our channel. I mean, you know I'm a genius, right? Anyway, I contacted Pekrews and inquired as to the existence of such an insert for this specific drone we just purchased for the channel and I was informed it didn't exist for sale on its own. Pekrews did.
When I say Potensic Atom 2, what comes to mind? The next DJI? Yea, I agree. With what they've been able to do over the past couple of years, I'd say they're in the running... Today, I wanted to give you a quick snippet of how I feel about Potensic and the Potnesic Atom 2 mini drone. Basically, I love it! Potensic reached out earlier this year and asked if we'd be interested in reviewing their new Potensic Atom 2 drone and after reviewing their previous Potnesic Atom 4K drone, I was all in. When I tested it, of course I was blown away with their improvements but then a month or so ago, they came out with a new screened controller. Now that was a total game changer when it came to the flight experience for me. I use an iPhone to fly most of my drones that don't have screened controllers and you all know the main problem with the iPhone set up is the phones will dim when they get hot or get exposed to the sun. The Potensic Atom 2 screen controller fixed that problem immediately.
I think I just found the best cheap ebike available on Amazon and on the internet altogether... Not only is it foldable, it's comfortable and easy to ride... We were contacted by Hillmiles Ebike company and they asked if we'd be interested in trying out one of their least expensive ebikes (aka cheap ebike) and give our honest opinion about our experience and what we thought of the quality. Recently we've been reviewing a lot of ebikes so I figured since we've reviewed the more expensive ebikes available, why not give the cheaper, more affordable version a try... Man, I'm glad we did because this Hillmiles Mileport 1 folding ebike is as good as any ebike less than $1000 out there on the market. And the best part is it costs less than half of that... So, in this video we decided to take the Hillmiles Mileport 1 folding ebike out for a test ride and follow ourselves with a DJI Neo drone. Yea, that was a lot of fun and this test ride really showed me Hillmiles may have just broken
Isn't it always cool to get a new drone? Well a new drone is always awesome, but this new drone is AMAZING!!! I want you to all meet "Cooter", our New DJI Avata 2 and wow, what a drone it is... Several weeks ago, Kristi finally looked at the books and gave me the accounting approval to purchase our new drone and she even let me name it myself. Well, I bought this new DJI Avata 2 on Amazon and it was delivered about a month later... Yea, it took a while for it to show up but I can easily say it was worth the wait. My goal isn't necessarily to change our channel to an FPV type channel, but I do want to incorporate this new Avata 2 drone in the mix as much as I possibly can. I've only flown Cooter a couple times but I think I have my feet wet enough to try this "test" we've developed... I asked my buddy "Kelshaw" to help me out with this video because Kristi said she wasn't interested... Anyway, Kelshaw and I head out to the park for this test and we didn't have the results.
Are you looking for a cheap collapsible ladder but worried about safety? If so, you're in a good place to find out if this cheap collapsible ladder from Vevor fits your bill... Vevor contacted us asking if we'd be interested in reviewing one of their collapsible ladders and since coming home from our 6 month long Family Circle Camping Trip, and dealing with a 6 ft. ladder during the whole trip, I figured this could be the perfect product to try out for future trips... Man, am I glad I took Vevor up on their offer because this ladder has surprised us in more ways than one... In today's video, not only do we test out this 18.5 ft collapsible ladder, we actually finish a project. Without this ladder, we never would have been able to finish the project so thanks, Vevor! Follow along and see if this Vevor 18.5 ft collapsible ladder is right for you. Vevor has several different ladders available so be sure to check out their website and see if one fits your needs.
Potensic finally did it, guys. They came out with the Atom 2 Drone update you've been waiting for since the drone was first released... Could it get any better? I mean, the Potensic Atom 2 was the original "Mini Drone Killer" after all, right? Yea, guys, we've been waiting for this update for such a long time, we weren't sure it was coming, and then BAM! It's here! In today's video we are taking the Potensic Atom 2 drone (Roger) out for a test spin after installing the firmware updates in both the screened controller as well as the Atom 2 drone. This update contains a lot of stuff but the main thing everyone is interested in is the Waypoints Missions... So, today, we'll cover that, but we're also going to cover a new signal test because we weren't totally blown away by the results last time. I mean, don't get me wrong. The signal was ok, but it could definitely be better.
Why is everyone saying the Potensic Atom 2 signal sucks? Is it really that bad? Watch what happens today and you may be shocked... Guys, this didn't go as planned... Yea, I've been flying the Potensic Atom 2 drone for quite a while and every time I fly it (Roger), the signal seems to be the only thing that has problems. Well, today, I decided to take the Potensic Atom 2 out and do a few tests to see how bad it really is... Intrigued yet? Yea, I knew you would be so I won't be giving any spoiler alerts about what happens. You'll just have to watch and see... Yep! I will say I love the Potensic Atom 2 and can't wait to see what's next for the Potensic line...
Are you looking for a tactical flashlight that does more than a normal tactical flashlight? I wasn't but I still found one and here it is... This thing has all kinds of different functions that can come in handy on any day of the week... We were contacted by Wilde Trail and asked if we would be interested in trying out one of their best selling tactical flashlights, the Zoomie, and after seeing what all this flashlight had to offer, it was a no brainer (that's perfect for a guy like me with no brain)...
When you hear the words "DJI Mini 4 Pro Range Test", what do you think? Yea, you would think that... Guess what... That's not what I think. Stick around and find out what a real "We're the Roberts" DJI Mini 4 Pro range test is, and how it makes way more sense than a normal "YouTube Range Test". Yea, guys, today we decided to go out and do a range test with not only the DJI Mini 4 Pro, but also the DJI Phantom 4 Pro and the Veeniix V11 Pro. We also decided at the end to toss the DJI Neo in the mix here and see what it was made of. I truly think our range test is way more important than any other range test on YouTube currently and I hope you agree... So, without further ado, we hope you enjoy the video and really appreciate your support.
We found out about a Secret Potensic Atom 2 hack and want to share it with all of you. You won't believe how easy it is, but we don't want to stop there. We also want to test our Potensic Atom 2 signal strength and see if we can get it to improve... Most of you reading this description would know by now that most of our videos come from viewer ideas and comments. We totally prefer it that way because it makes it a lot easier for us to come up with video ideas since we don't come up with them. Make sense? Yea, I thought so. Anyway, today is no different. Today we are showcasing 3 viewer comments with our Potensic Atom 2 drone (Roger) and one of those comments divulged a secret Atom 2 hack nobody has ever shared with us before. So, what better way to thank the viewer than to share it with all of you, right? Secret hacks are a lot of fun to test out but I have to warn you... This one deals with fire so we gotta be extra careful.
Have you been looking for a portable power station for drones? How about a power station for drones plus for making sandwiches? Yea, you read that right... We were contacted by Oscal about their new updated PowerMax 1800 SE portable power station and as soon as we saw the specs and reviews on this machine, we jumped on the chance to review it... I mean who doesn't need a power station, right? The answer - NOBODY! Everyone needs a power station and that's what today's video is all about... We took this Oscal PowerMax 1800 SE power station out to the camper and put it through some tests to see if it would be enough to get us through a night in a parking lot... Yea, you read that right, too...
Have you ever seen flying cameras in the sky? Well, if you haven't, get ready, because they're coming and they aren't going away... HOVERAir is going to make sure of that with their latest flying camera, the HOVERAir X1 ProMax, handheld selfie drone that offers so much more... One of the best features of this flying camera, aside of its amazing capabilities and automated functions, is the size. This drone is small enough to fit in your pocket but big enough to capture footage that competes with drones 10 times its size. There are multiple ways to use this flying camera including by itself, with your phone as well as with a beacon / joystick kit HOVERAir has developed which allows you to utilize the flying camera as a conventional drone. Yea, HOVERAir is ahead of its time and is definitely leading the way.
This new mini drone killer may reshape the way companies approach the Mini Drone Class and it could change the way you think about budget drones altogether... We heard from Ruko again and were informed they have just released a new controller for their latest Mini Drone, the Ruko U11 Mini 4K. This new screened controller, the RC3 controller, is something Ruko has been working on for a long time and they finally have it dialed in to help make the flying experience that much more enjoyable. In today's video, we decided to take the Ruko U11 Mini 4K and the new RC3 controller out for its first flight and see just how much this controller improves our flying experience. All I can say is I wasn't disappointed.
How many mini drone killers have we tried out on our channel? 15? 20? Ok, that may be an exaggeration, but seriously, this one is the absolute best we've found, and it just keeps getting better and better... Potensic reached out to us a long time ago (I think because they knew we were looking for the best mini drone killer around) and they told us they were getting ready to release an updated Atom model drone in their mini drone lineup. When they asked if we'd be interested in trying it out on our channel, we jumped at the chance because we KNEW it was going to be something special. Listen, the Potensic Atom 2 did not disappoint and it seriously is just getting better with each update Potensic provides in their Potensic Eve App.
Does your Potensic Atom 2 have a secret problem? The answer is yes and it could ruin your ability to fly in the future... Hey, guys... If that first line doesn't get your attention, I'm not sure what will, but I'm 100% serious when I say the Potensic Atom 2 has a secret problem that could be fatal to your drone... Of course I'm not going to come right out and say what it is since I like to keep you all in suspense, so watch the video to find out... I will give you a hint. It has to do with the drone's ability to power up and take off... Hmmmm Well, we were contacted by a viewer of the channel (Albert Tajera) who has created, developed designed and manufactured a solution to the problem we've mentioned above and if you watch the video, you know he not only sent us the product to try out, but he also provided us with 2 additional samples to give away to 2 lucky viewers. Albert is "da man" and he's looking out for all you guys...
I've never had a paying drone job (except YouTube of course) but today, I got paid $200 for 5 minutes of drone work. That's $40 per minute! That's 67 cents per second! That's $2400 per hour! Too bad it's a one time drone job... Or is it? Guys, I went out today to complete my first official paying drone job since earning my FAA required Part 107 certification almost 2 years ago. I mean, I never intended on working with the drones in our fleet to do anything more than make YouTube videos but some opportunities you just can't pass up... And this drone job was one of those opportunities...
Have we just witnessed some DJI Phantom 4 Pro problems pop up or is it still a viable drone in 2026? We'll answer that question plus we have a give away update for you guys... Recently we flew the DJI Phantom 4 Pro and discovered we may have some problems. The last several times we've taken the Phantom 4 Pro (aka Boss Hogg) up in the air, his controller screen has acted really weird. Either the screen will turn green and flicker or there will be a black line fade in and out. Sometimes the entire screen goes black and I have no idea what the drone is looking at. These scenarios are positions you never want to find yourself in as a "serious" drone pilot like myself so I have been wracking my brain trying to figure out what the problem is.
Have you heard the term "Pocket Drone" lately? Yea, there's a reason. HOVERAir X1 ProMax is a pocket drone that can be classified as just a smarter way to fly. With all the different modes of flight with the HOVERAir X1 ProMax, how could it be smarter? We recently acquired a HOVERAir X1 ProMax drone from Zero Zero Robotics do demo on the channel and all I can say is, "WOW, this thing is amazing!" We released the first demo video of our "HOVERAir series" a few weeks ago and we demonstrated some of the 14 autonomous features s(follow mode, bird eye, zoom out, etc) and also chased ourselves on a bicycle for a couple minutes to see if the HOVERAir X1 ProMax could keep up. Well, we weren't disappointed in the results and were really impressed with how simple this flying camera was to operate, even for a Roberts.
We all know we've found the ultimate Mini Drone Killer, or at least the best of the bunch already, but I think Potensic is onto something that will change the Mini Drone market here in the USA very soon... Ok, I know you're all here for the Give Away results so feel free to skip the description and go straight to the video. I promise the Give Away announcement isn't too far into the video so my "talking too much" shouldn't annoy you too much... This time...
Pecron's newest power station is now available in 2026. Ok, it's been out for a while but it's about as good as any power station can be so I'd say it's new... Yea, that may have been a little weird but you get my point... We were recently contacted by Pecron and asked if we'd be interested in demonstrating their newest power station, the Pecron E1000 LFP. This is an 1800 watt power station with a peak power of 3000 watts and it packs a punch... Today, we took the Pecron power station out to the camper and tested it out with several appliances to see what power it would provide and to see if we could break it. Ok, we didn't want to break it but we wanted to see if we could overpower it... Spoiler alert: we didn't...
Someone has to say it. I HATE DJI. I never thought I would say that, but there you go... Now, let's get on with the rest of the story... The word "hate" is one of the strongest words in the English language and I've always been taught to not say it, but it's definitely fitting for this situation... Once you're done watching this video you're going to say to yourself, "I hate DJI, too!" Anyway, I've been wanting to try out the new DJI Neo 2 for several months now and I finally got the spousal authorization to purchase one. I mean it was on my Amazon wish list for the past couple months and I was beginning to wonder if it would ever happen. So I hit "place order" and within a matter of 3 days, the new DJI Neo 2 was delivered to our front door. Let me ask a weird question before we move on here. Do you think the DJI Neo 2 can be compared to the DJI Mini 5 Pro?
HoverAir has come out with a new firmware update and I wouldn't have discovered the update as quickly if I hadn't found a problem with the drone design itself. Yep. Back when HoverAir (Zero Zero Robotics) reached out to us to review their newest HoverAir X1 ProMax flying camera, immediately upon setting up the drone, I had to install a new firmware update which was to be expected, right? I had heard HoverAir pushes out firmware updates pretty often, but we've only had this drone for a few weeks so the last thing I expected was an update already. And this is how this genius found it...
Guys, we may have literally found the best mini drone killer of all time: A diamond in the rough, a needle in a haystack, Waldo!!! Seriously, you don't want to miss this... We have been on the hunt for a "Mini Drone Killer" for the past several years and although we've come close to and have had great experiences with certain brands, the elusive "Mini Drone Killer" title has not been totally claimed by any specific drone. Yea, some have come close, and others have some real potential, but there's always been something missing. Whether there were signal issues, high prices, cheap components, weird marketing approaches, bad timing, firmware update issues, or whatever the case may be, no specific drone has come across our doorstep to totally claim the title, "Mini Drone Killer". That is until now...
Looking for a budget ebike that has all the bells and whistles of a more expensive competitor? This one comes with a literal bell... Congratulations! You found it! I know everyone looking for an ebike this day in age is looking for a budget friendly model that won't break the bank. The prices of ebikes have been going up and up for the past several years and it's hard to find one that has a price tag that reflects the "special features". That is, until now... Gleeride has come out with a new model ebike and it is 100% affordable, durable, well made, long lasting and attractive. This Gleeride EC540 Step-Thru model may be just what you're looking for because at the current price listing on their website, it's going for less than $600. Yea, you read that right. $600!!!
You can only have one DJI Avata 2 first flight experience, and this is Jeff Nozar's! You don't want to miss this. Was I wise to let Jeff fly my DJI Avata 2 with no experience? A while back (2025) I was sort of forced to fly a DJI Avata 2 for the first time by a good buddy named Jason. Jason, aka JJ's Lifted Horizons YouTube Channel, and I met up in Iowa last summer while Kristi and I were on our 6 month long Family Circle Camping trip. Well, Jason has a DJI Avata 2 and made the statement, "So, do you wanna make your DJI Avata 2 first flight today?" I said, "Duh!" and we went out to a park and he taught me the basics of flying the DJI Avata 2 with the DJI Motion Controller 3. I may not have done a very good job of flying that day, but Jason taught me enough that I immediately became addicted to FPV flights and bugged Kristi until she caved and gave me the required spousal permission to purchase our DJI Avata 2, aka Cooter... Thanks, Jason!!!
Guys, we may have just found the perfect drone light and it wasn't even an consideration when the company developed the idea. of this headlamp. Did I say headlamp? Yes! Wilde Trail reached out to us previously and gave us an opportunity to review one of their flashlights and we were truly impressed. Well, when that review video was released, they contacted us again and asked if we'd be interested in testing out their latest contraption, the Wilde Trail headlamp. Well, duh... My immediate thought was, "This headlamp would be perfect for nighttime bike rides and drone flights." So it was a no brainer, of course. So in today's video, that's exactly what we're going to do. We're going to brave the darkness with a short bike ride and then we'll finish our experiment with a quick DJI Neo 2 drone flight in the backyard. Oh, and did I mention it'll be pitch black? Yea, this could end badly...
Well, guys... Potensic gone and done it now. They gave my favorite mini drone killer some new ND filters. Now we don't have to steal from the other drones in our fleet... YEA!!! So, for months we've been hearing complaints from a lot of you guys out there who fly the Potnesic Atom 2 drone (ours is named Roger) and the complaints have gotten louder and more frequent. The main complaint can be summed up in 2 words. Or maybe 3 depending on how you interpret the first part, "ND Filters". Yea, every drone company out there has some sort of relationship with some company along the way who produces ND filters, but Potensic, somehow, missed the boat and has not been picked up by any of these markets. So, what did they do? They made their own!!! Yep, they solved the problem and they did a really good job...
The DJI Neo 2 has to be the greatest drone DJI released in 2025 and it continues to be the best in 2026. I'm going to fly the DJI Neo 2 in silence and you can, too... Yea, we've heard your complaints and have decided to try and address the issue of the noise and commotion in previous DJI Neo 2 videos, so here you go!!! You'll be amazed how easy it is and you won't believe your ears after watching this video. Dare I say, you'll love DJI after watching this video? I really can't say much more without a spoiler alert so I'll stop giving you information now but I do want to thank everyone who made this video possible.
Well, I've gone and found a drone flashlight when I wasn't even looking for one... But wait! This flashlight is way more than a drone flashlight... It has at least 11 settings that can be useful for a myriad of scenarios and my bet is you need this... We were contacted by a company called Olight and were asked if we would be interested in trying out their latest flashlight model, the Ark Pro Ultra. This is a definitely a step up from their Ark Pro model released earlier in 2025 and its upgrades have not gone unnoticed. It has a brighter beam, it lasts longer, it doesn't take as long to charge and it has a couple additional lights the older model doesn't have...
Guys, the new DJI Fly App Update 1.20.0 did not fix anything with the Mini 4 Pro and it seems like DJI has forgotten about it altogether. Don' t even get me started on the DJI Mini 2... Well, I learned that DJI released a new Fly App Update and it of course was focused on the new DJI Avata 360. Well, I don't have an Avata 360 so I can't test that, but I do have a Mini 4 Pro and a Mini 2 that both need tested, so let's get started... I was excited to get the Mini 4 Pro (Dwight) out today but I was even more excited to get the Mini 2 (Rose) out since she hasn't flown since August, 2025... Yea, she's been neglected, but today's flight will hopefully fix that problem. Well, that problems was fixed but we found additional problems with the DJI Mini 4 Pro... Same old story. DJI has left the Mini 4 Pro behind and it's now a thing of the past, right?
Does anyone even know what we mean by "avoid drone death"? I didn't think so but that's ok. You can if you try what we did in this test today with the Skyrover S1 Mini drone, an e-bike and something called Oupes. Interested? We were contacted by a company called Oupes (not OOPS) and they asked if we would be interested in trying out their Exodus 1200 model power station. I could only think of one way to test this power station and that was with a drone flight and an e-bike ride. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention, we had to incorporate the HoverAIR Promax drone (Herbie) in this video...
When we bought the DJI Avata 2 last year, we purchased the only DJI Avata 2 controller I was familiar with and that was the Motion 3 controller. Well, there's a new controller in town and it's the DJI FPV 3 controller. According to the real FPV drone guys, the FPV 3 controller is the only way to go and the Motion 3 Controller is for girls... Well, I'm not a girl but I do like the Motion 3 controller. Anyway, I reluctantly ordered a DJI FPV 3 controller from EBAY and it arrived in tact, surprisingly. Well, today's the day we took that controller out of the box and gave it a try... I asked our good buddy, Kevin Kelshaw, to join us and we were also joined by his grandson. Yea, we were all 3 involved in this video so make sure to watch to the end to see what happens... So, which DJI Avata 2 controller is for me? I'm sure you already know so I won't spoil it for you.
Have you ever wanted to try a DJI Avata 2 or a Neo 2 Night Flight? Well, we've made night flights in the past with flashlights and headlamps, but this is a whole new level of perfection... You gotta see this! We were contacted by ViFly, a company that provides different lighting kits for different drones including the DJI Avata 2 and the DJI Neo 2. They sent us 3 kits total (1 for the Neo 2 and 2 for the Avata 2) and asked if we would be interested in trying them and providing our true, uninterrupted opinion. I was immediately drawn to the quality of each lighting kit and knew I would be impressed with the results of our "tests", so I agreed.
Well, Potensic has again updated their fan favorite Atom 2 Drone. The only question is, "Did it help with the signal?" Warning: You may not know anymore than you do now after watching this video... So today, I wanted to take our Potensic Atom 2 drone out for a flight and test out something brought up by a recent viewer and guess what I found... A Potensic Eve Fly App update! I believe there was a firmware update, also but I couldn't prove it as I did not remember what firmware version Roger (our Potensic Atom 2 drone) was on prior to installing the Fly App update... Regardless, it's installed and ready to go.
How many times can you make the same drone mistake? I've made several mistakes in my life but this one could have really hurt... This isn't even the real topic of this video but it definitely needs to be mentioned because as with all my drone mistakes, I like to keep you in the loop. So it all started when we were contacted by Freewell asking if we would be interested in trying out their new ND filter kits for the DJI Neo 2. Of course I was interested because I hadn't purchased a CPL filter yet for the DJI Neo 2 (PeeWee) and I figured it was about time. Little did I know that decision could have led to my unexpected and very premature death (yes, I'm still young, guys).
Yea, we've been looking for the best mini drone killer for years now and have definitely flown several that qualify for the title and this Holy Stone HS900 Pro is no exception. Holy Stone contacted us and asked if we'd be interested in trying their new model out and after reviewing some videos of the previous model (HS900) I was immediately impressed. I told them to bring on that mini killer and we'd be happy to put it through its paces...
If you've been looking for drone night vision, it's here! This may be the best way to fly at night available for drones, so you gotta see this... Yea, guys, a while back we reviewed an Olight ArkPro Ultra flashlight and had a blast testing it out with different scenarios. Well, Olight reached back out with their newest EDC (that's every day carry for you civilians out there) flashlight, the ArkPro Ultra Onyx Black. They hit it out of the park yet again... So, in today's video, we're going to do a couple different things with this new flashlight but the main focus will be using it as "drone night vision". All I can say without giving it away is this has to be the best night flight I've ever had with a drone. And to top it off, I was able to fly the DJI Avata 2 this time!
This special Atom 2 feature is missed by a lot of people and I didn't know about it until a viewer let me in on the little secret. Are you intrigued yet? So, if you haven't seen a lot of our videos, you may not know how we come up with different video ideas and how involved our audience is with our channel. Basically, each week, we highlight a viewer comment / suggestion and we try to duplicate what they suggest (within reason of course). When we hear of special Atom 2 drone features, my ears always perk up because I love the Atom 2 (Roger) drone and can't imagine not having it displayed on our channel.
How many RC Helicopters for beginners have you flown? I've flown a few but this had to be the worst experience ever... I was excited to take my new RC helicopter out for its maiden flight… but it quickly turned into a frustrating, crash-filled mess. In this video, I document the real beginner experience—no sugarcoating, no perfect flying, just mistakes, defects, confusion and hard lessons learned the painful way.
Every week it seems we see one of our Mini Drone Killer updates pop up in our alerts. Well, today, it's SkyRover's turn! Have you ever updated your SkyRover S1? This is my first time so let's see if it helped or hurt the range of this awesome drone. We've been on the hunt for a mini drone killer for the past several months (years maybe) and have definitely come close with the SkyRover S1 drone. I honestly believe SkyRover is related to DJI and not just a clone type relationship. But, that is for another video and not from me because I don't know enough about this drone stuff to prove my stance... There, I admit it...
We all know the Potensic Atom 2 captures amazing aerial footage all the time, but what you haven't seen is what's happening in the background with our power station. That is... UNTIL NOW! Experience off-grid freedom as the Aferiy Nomad 800 power station proves just how far portable energy can take you. In this video, we put the Nomad 800 to the test in real-world, outdoor scenarios far from any wall outlet. From rugged river valleys and forested backroads to a dramatic flight near a local dam, this compact power station becomes the backbone of an entire mobile setup.
Are you interested in the DJI Neo 2 FPV mode? Yea, me, too... That's why I bought a DJI Neo 2 and paired it with my Goggles 3... In this video, I take the DJI Neo 2 out for a full FPV flight experience at the South Florida Drone Meetup in South Florida, flying with the DJI Goggles 3 and Motion Controller. Joining me for this session was my friend Kevin Kelshaw, and together we explored what the DJI Neo 2 is really capable of in a real-world environment—not just open field flying, but tight spaces, trees, and creative flythroughs.
The Holy Stone HS900 Pro is definitely the next mini drone killer and it has a chance to be a real contender... The Holy Stone HS900 Pro is back on the channel—but this time, things are different. After a recent update to the drone’s app, I wanted to see if this beginner-friendly drone could unlock more of its potential. In this follow-up review, I put the HS900 Pro through a series of real-world tests to see how it performs now.
Is the Mini 4 Pro forgotten forever? I'm afraid it may be because DJI seems to be ignoring it along with several other viable drones still on the market. Let's hope we're wrong, but I may just prove once and for all today, that it's true. We've had our DJI Mini 4 Pro ever since it was first released back in September, 2023. As a matter of fact, I was driving home from a trip the day it was released and pulled over on the side of the Interstate to place the order. Have I forgotten the DJI Mini 4 Pro? Heck no!!! We love Dwight!
Did you ever think you'd see a YouTube video title that read, "DJI Neo 2 VS Botslab G980H 3K 4-Channel Dashcam"? Me neither but here we are and this one is a dooooosy! If that's even a word... Today we put the Botslab G980H 4-channel dash camera system to a unique real-world test! And we flew the DJI Neo 2 to boot! That makes for a good day in any week in my opinion. Botslab claims the G980H provides full 360° vehicle coverage, so I decided to test that claim in a way only a drone channel would… by flying the DJI Neo 2 (PeeWee) completely around the vehicle to see if ALL camera angles could keep track of it.
Can the DJI Mini 4 Pro FPV style actually feel like a true FPV drone? I honestly didn’t think this setup was even possible until I watched a video from Shaun the Drone showing the DJI Mini 4 Pro flying with the DJI Goggles 3 and Motion 3 controller. So while visiting family in West Virginia, I decided to try it for myself… and the experience completely surprised me. Setup was incredibly simple. After linking the DJI Mini 4 Pro to the DJI Goggles 3, we were ready to fly. Since I’m still getting used to FPV flying, we stayed low to the ground because higher altitude FPV flying can make me dizzy or nauseous. But flying low through the trees at the park felt immersive and incredibly smooth.
Have you ever thought of a little contest where the DJI Neo 2 VS Rayneo Air 4 Pro AR glasses? Well, we did and this is how we made it a reality... Today we put the RayNeo Air 4 Pro AR Glasses to a real-world drone test and we thought the DJI Neo 2 was the perfect drone for the challenge. Instead of another long unboxing video, we wanted to see what these AR glasses actually feel like outdoors during a live drone flight. While I flew the drone, my friend experienced the flight entirely through the RayNeo glasses for the very first time and shared his honest reactions in real time.
There is one specific DJI Mini 4 Pro feature that seemed perfect for this test... Watch and see what I mean... Sometimes drones become more than just cameras in the sky. On our recent trip back to West Virginia, I made what may be my final drone flight at Hannibal Dam in New Martinsville — a place that holds a lifetime of memories for me. My dad and I used to fish here when I was growing up, and some of my favorite childhood memories were made along this riverbank. Since my dad passed away years ago, this location has always carried a special meaning.
What would you say if I said the new 2026 drone of the year is the DJI Mini 2? Well, it's true and in this video you're going to find out exactly what that means... The DJI Mini 2 may be considered “old” in 2026… but after pairing it with the DJI RM500 Smart Controller, I completely changed my mind. In this video, I test the DJI Mini 2 with the RM500 screened controller to see if this older drone can still compete in today’s flying experience — and honestly, the results surprised me.
Is your DJI Neo 2 overheating? Ours has been for the past several flights and I think there's a serious problem. Our DJI Neo 2 recently started displaying overheating warnings, and honestly, we weren't sure why. In this video, we put the Neo 2 through a series of tests to see if we could duplicate the overheating issue and figure out what might be causing it. We tested the drone under different conditions, monitored its behavior, and compared the results to our normal flying experience. Was this simply an isolated incident? Is there a problem with our Neo 2? Or is there another explanation entirely?
Potensic recently sent us the brand-new Potensic Atom 3 drone for early testing, and there was one thing we wanted to check before anything else. For the past couple of years we've been flying the Potensic Atom 2, affectionately known around here as "Roger." Roger has been an incredibly reliable drone and has served us well through countless flights. However, one of the most common questions and complaints we've seen from viewers involves the signal strength indicator displayed on the controller. In our experience, the Atom 2 has never actually lost connection during normal flights, leading us to believe the signal display may be more conservative than the real-world performance suggests. Even so, many viewers continue to express concerns whenever we feature the Atom 2 on the channel.
Before we even got to the viewer comments, we discovered that our RC2 controller had apparently received a DJI Fly app and firmware update without us manually initiating the process. Since then we've noticed several frustrating issues including screen lag, jittery display behavior, problems with screen recording, and other performance concerns that seem related to the update. After talking about the DJI update situation, we dive into two viewer questions and conduct real-world flight tests to see what actually happens when we try their suggestions. Thankfully both tests provided clear answers and helped demonstrate exactly how the Mini 4 Pro behaves in those scenarios.
How many of DJI's best ideas been copied over the past several years? Several probably, but this time Holy Stone copied it just enough to not be a copy... Wait, what? DJI has had several ideas in the past and most of them are great, but a while back, they came out with the concept of screened controllers for their drones. Well, finally there are other companies coming out with similar screened controllers and I have to say, it's the best idea as of yet... Today we're testing Holy Stone's new HS243A screened controller while flying the HS600D drone!
A viewer suggested that our previous DJI Neo 2 overheating test may not have pushed the battery far enough, so we decided to put that theory to the test. In earlier flights, our DJI Neo 2 (Peewee) unexpectedly entered a thermal protection mode and landed in place due to battery overheating. One of those incidents nearly resulted in the drone landing in the water. Because the drone was carrying an aftermarket lighting kit, we suspected the additional weight might have been causing the battery to overheat. We already conducted one follow-up test and couldn't reproduce the issue. After hearing feedback from viewers, we headed back out for another flight with a different goal: drain the battery much further and see if the overheating problem would finally return.
DJI has released DJI Fly App Update 1.21.4 along with a new DJI Neo 2 firmware update, and after experiencing several issues with previous updates, I knew it was time to put both of them to the test. Over the past few weeks we've dealt with RC2 controller lag, connection issues, black screen problems, DJI Neo 2 battery overheating concerns, and even a DJI Mini 4 Pro Rocket Quickshot issue that appeared after a previous DJI Fly App update. In this video I install the latest updates and retest both the DJI Neo 2 and DJI Mini 4 Pro to see what has changed. Has DJI finally fixed the RC2 controller issues? Is the Neo 2 overheating problem gone? And what about the Mini 4 Pro Quickshot bug?
In this video, we're taking a look at the BetaFPV Aquila 20 HD Digital Kit, a complete beginner-friendly FPV package designed to help new pilots learn FPV flying at their own pace. I'll walk you through everything included in the kit, share my own FPV journey (or lack thereof!), and put the Aquila 20 HD to the test during my first flights. From Normal mode to my less-than-successful attempt in Mid mode, you'll see exactly what it's like for a complete FPV beginner to learn with this system. One of the biggest advantages of this kit is that everything comes ready to fly and already paired, removing much of the confusion and anxiety often associated with getting started in FPV. With multiple flight modes ranging from beginner-friendly Normal mode all the way to full Manual mode, the Aquila 20 HD allows new pilots to build confidence and progress at their own speed.
Have you ever tried DJI Neo 2 FPV mode? Well, we found something to make it easier than you'd ever thought possible... After a viewer challenged us to fly the DJI Neo 2 through a truck using the standard RC2 controller, we decided to give it a try. During our original DJI Neo 2 FPV video at the South Florida Drone Meetup, we successfully flew through the open windows of a truck using the Motion Controller 3. Many viewers pointed out that the Motion Controller makes FPV flying much easier and wondered if the same flight could be completed using the RC2 controller.
When Ruko reached out and asked us to review the brand-new Ruko F11 Pro 2 Plus, we were excited to see what had changed compared to the original F11 Pro 2. For our first flight, we headed back to one of our favorite drone testing locations—our familiar "graveyard" flying spot. While we were away on vacation, we discovered the surrounding property had been cleared dramatically, making the area look completely different than before.
When we released our Potensic Atom 3 first-look video, many of you quickly pointed out something important: the Atom 3 has not yet received the required FCC equipment authorization for general import and use in the United States. You were absolutely right to bring it to our attention. After spending more time researching the situation, I wanted to make this follow-up video to explain what I found and why I've decided to temporarily ground my Atom 3 until Potensic completes the necessary approvals for the U.S. market.
Instead of filming another traditional e-bike review, we headed to the park with the Mokwheel Tor Plus and turned it into an FPV challenge. Our friend Kelshaw climbed aboard the Tor Plus while we launched our DJI Avata 2 ("Cooter") to see if we could stay on his tail through trees, along gravel roads, beside the marina, and across the park. Along the way we even attempted to communicate over our cell phones... which turned out to be much harder than expected thanks to wind noise, speed, and less-than-perfect reception! While that part didn't go exactly as planned, it definitely added to the adventure. This video isn't about lab tests or specifications—it's about getting outside, having fun, and seeing what happens when drones and e-bikes come together. So... could Kelshaw outrun the Avata 2?
For months we've been trying to recreate the overheating issue some DJI Neo 2 pilots have reported, but despite multiple test flights we haven't been able to make it happen. This time, one of our viewers suggested a completely different approach. Instead of normal flying, he explained that the overheating only happens during aggressive FPV manual mode flying. While I'm definitely not a manual mode FPV pilot, I decided to push the Neo 2 as hard as I could using Sport Mode and the Motion Controller 3 to see if I could finally duplicate the issue. Before takeoff, something unexpected happened. The goggles notified me that one of my Neo 2 batteries needed a firmware update. After installing the update, it was time to see whether aggressive flying would finally trigger the overheating warning... or if DJI may have quietly solved the problem. Join us as we push the DJI Neo 2 harder than we've ever flown it and see what happens.
We've been waiting for another DJI Fly App Update and it's here, guys! Is it worth updating? DJI has released another update to the DJI Fly App, version 1.21.5. While the release notes simply mention "fixed known issues and optimized overall app quality," they don't reveal much about what actually changed. Since this update is currently available only on iOS, I decided it was the perfect excuse to dust off one of my favorite drones—the DJI Mini 2, affectionately known on our channel as "Rose." Even though DJI ended active support for the Mini 2 years ago, it's still one of the most reliable drones we've ever flown, and many of you are still flying yours today. So the question is simple... Does the newest DJI Fly App still play nicely with this classic drone?
Do you want to be a better drone pilot? What if I told you it's possible? You gotta see this... Whether you're a brand-new drone pilot or you've been flying for years, preparing for a flight often means bouncing between multiple apps and websites. One for the weather. Another for airspace. Another for camera settings. Maybe another to figure out which ND filter you should use. In this video, we're taking a look at Drone Companion, a web-based platform designed to bring many of those tools together in one place. From weather information and drone-specific camera settings to ND filter recommendations, flying locations, mapping, pilot resources, and more, Drone Companion aims to simplify the entire pre-flight process. To put it to the test, we headed to beautiful Rattlesnake Island, just north of Marineland, Florida, where I walked through the platform's features while adding a little of the usual Roberts-style commentary along the way.
In my unprofessional opinion, I think the DJI FPV 3 Controller has the power to change your life. No, seriously. Hear me out on this one... Have you ever wanted to learn FPV flying but weren't sure where to begin? That was me. After spending months flying the DJI Avata 2 and DJI Neo 2 with the Motion Controller 3, I knew the next step toward true manual (Acro) flight was learning the DJI FPV 3 Controller. Instead of jumping straight into Manual Mode, DJI gives pilots a fantastic way to transition by using the FPV Controller in both Normal and Sport Modes. The drone still self-levels, but you begin developing the stick control and muscle memory you'll eventually need for Manual Mode.
When I go out to explore with my drone, I typically find a parking lot and stay in the truck so I can stay comfortable in the AC... But now, everything has changed and I'll show you how it can change for you in this video... The Aipas M1 Max may look like a massive fat-tire e-bike, but I wanted to find out what it could really offer a drone pilot. For this adventure, I transported the M1 Max to Fort Matanzas National Monument in Florida. Because launching and landing a drone from National Park Service property is restricted, I used the bike to travel to a nearby county park where I could legally launch the DJI Mini 4 Pro and attempt to capture a view of the historic fort from the air. After completing the first flight, I continued south on the M1 Max, accessed the beach, and launched the Mini 4 Pro again for an entirely different coastal perspective.
Have you taken your first ever manual mode flight with your FPV drone yet? If not, WHY NOT??? It's awesome!!! Scary, but still awesome! Welcome back to We're the Roberts! After weeks of preparation, the day finally arrived... It was time to fly the DJI Avata 2 in Manual Mode for the very first time. Before attempting this flight, I spent over 15 hours practicing in the Liftoff FPV Simulator using the DJI FPV Controller 3. I also reviewed the BetaFPV Aquila 20 HD kit and spent additional time flying the Avata 2 in Normal and Sport modes to become comfortable with the controller before making the jump into Manual Mode. Unlike many FPV drones, the DJI Avata 2 gives beginners a valuable safety feature. If things get out of control in Manual Mode, a simple press of the Pause button instantly switches the drone back into Normal Mode where it hovers safely. That feature alone gave me the confidence to finally take this step.
For the past several weeks, the Potensic Atom 3 has been surrounded by uncertainty in the United States while FCC approval is still pending. After making the difficult decision to ground our Atom 3, I reached out to Potensic with a simple request: If the Atom 3 can't fly here yet, don't forget about the Atom 2 owners. One of the features I specifically asked about was bringing the newer AR flight features from the iPhone version of the Potensic Eve app to the PTD1 screened controller. Not long afterward, a new PTD1 update appeared...and those features are now available.
For the past several months, our DJI Neo 2 (PeeWee) has been one of the most frustrating—and memorable—drones we've ever reviewed. We've chased an overheating issue through firmware updates, countless test flights, viewer suggestions, and even phone calls with DJI. Every time we tried to recreate the problem on camera... it refused to cooperate. Then, while flying for fun, it happened again. That led us down a path of contacting DJI, working with the Amazon seller, recreating the overheating warning, and ultimately discovering what appears to trigger the problem on our drone. In this video, we take PeeWee on one final FPV flight before returning him to Amazon and sharing how this long-running story finally comes to an end.
Every time I visit family in Des Moines, Iowa, I run into the same problem... they're located near the airport inside controlled airspace, which means I can't simply walk outside and launch a drone. Instead of loading up the truck, I decided to try something different. Today we're taking the Eclio Vetus 2 moped-style e-bike on a mission to Gray's Lake to see if it can become the ultimate "drone shuttle." With a quick LAANC authorization and a short ride, can this unique e-bike make it easier to reach a legal flying location?
Potensic has released another update for the Eve app, so while visiting family in Des Moines, Iowa, we took Roger — our Potensic ATOM 2 — out to Saylorville Lake to see how everything was working after the update. We put Roger through several of our usual tests, including a signal test, QuickShots, Return to Home, and landing accuracy. With plenty of battery left, we even kept flying until the ATOM 2 initiated an automatic Return to Home because of the low battery level. Spoiler alert: Roger handled everything — including another windy day — with flying colors!
DJI says to do a lot of different things before we take off for our flights... Some seem like great advice, others seem to suck... Which category does this fit in? Does the way you launch your DJI drone affect Precision Landing accuracy? This video was inspired by a comment from viewer David Punnett, who suggested that using Auto Takeoff and allowing the drone to hover before flying away could result in a more accurate Return to Home landing than manually starting the motors and taking off.
Are you wanting to learn FPV and do it safely? Everyone says the same thing when you're learning full manual FPV... find a wide-open area with plenty of room to make mistakes. Well... I may have found the perfect place. After surviving my very first full manual FPV flight with the DJI Avata 2 (aka Cooter), I received advice from experienced FPV pilots encouraging me to practice somewhere with no trees, buildings, or other obstacles. A friend of mine owns a 200+ acre farm complete with a private grass runway that was once used for real airplanes, and he generously invited me to use it as my FPV training ground. Before taking off in Manual Mode, I sent my DJI Mini 4 Pro (Dwight) down the runway to see just how long it really is... and the results surprised me!
Holy Stone's New Drone may have a problem, but is it worth the wait? Holy Stone sent us their brand-new Tofect T60, a special release celebrating the company's 12th anniversary — and let's just say Walter's maiden flight did NOT go according to plan. After successfully connecting the drone and controller at home, I took Walter out to the graveyard for his first real flight... and they absolutely refused to connect. After several failed attempts, I went home — where, naturally, everything worked perfectly.
After returning PeeWee, our DJI Neo 2, I thought the next step was simple — wait for the refund and buy another one. Then something happened that I never could have planned. My good friend and fellow YouTube creator Nobbygreen passed away a few months ago. Shortly before his passing, Nobby had purchased a DJI Neo 2 and Avata 2 and was excited about getting into FPV flying. Then our friend GavinHR let me know that Nobby's family was auctioning some of his drone equipment. Among the items was his DJI Neo 2.
After RJ suggested that I check out a StartRC case for the Neo 2, StartRC reached out and offered to send us TWO completely different cases to try — a lightweight soft case and a much larger hard case. In this video, we'll take a look at both and figure out which one actually fits the way I use the Neo 2. For me, that means carrying it along with my Avata 2, Goggles, controllers and the rest of my FPV gear without needing another big case to haul around. One of these fits that job perfectly.
Which DJI controller is your favorite? The internet has plenty to say about the DJI RM500 screened controller... especially when it comes to signal strength. After reading a comment from one of our longtime viewers, I decided there was only one thing to do—stop reading opinions and go fly. In this video, we put the RM500 to the test with two real-world flights using the DJI Mini 2. First, we fly while sitting inside the truck. Then we repeat the same flight standing outside to see if it makes any measurable difference. The results honestly surprised me. If you've been considering the RM500 controller for your DJI Mini 2, Air 2, or Air 2S, hopefully this real-world test helps you decide whether its reputation is deserved.
My Skyrover X1 Was Perfect... Until This Happened Meet Bo, our brand-new Skyrover X1! And yes... there is a perfectly reasonable explanation for the name. We already have the Skyrover S1, which we named Luke, so when this gold Skyrover X1 joined the family there was really only one name that made sense. Dukes of Hazzard fans will understand! After asking you guys on our Community Tab if you'd be interested in seeing more Skyrover content, the response was overwhelmingly YES—so today we're taking Bo out for his maiden voyage. We'll put the X1 through some of our usual first-flight tests, including a 1,500-foot signal test, Return to Home, landing accuracy, camera quality and a QuickShot. We even went looking for a Florida gator or two along the way.
After my first few DJI Avata 2 Manual Mode flights, you guys had PLENTY of advice for me — and this time, I actually listened! ???? Several viewers pointed out that although I was flying Cooter in Manual Mode, I still had the Attitude Limit enabled. In other words... the training wheels were still on. Before taking them off, I had a couple other things to work on. We adjusted the rates on the Avata 2 to more closely match the Betaflight rates I've been practicing with in the Liftoff simulator, and thanks to some great advice from Top Dog FPV, I also discovered what we're calling the “Roberts Style Hybrid Pinch/Thumb Grip.” ???? Believe it or not, it made an immediate difference in my control! For the first flight, I left the Attitude Limit ON so I could loosen up my hands and see how the new rates felt. They were almost spot-on with what I've been practicing in Liftoff.
It's time to take the BetaFPV Aquila 20 HD into Manual Mode! When I first flew the Aquila 20, I was VERY new to traditional FPV flying. Since then I've spent time in the Liftoff simulator and gotten some real-world FPV Manual Mode experience with the DJI Avata 2. So I wanted to come back to the Aquila and see what I've learned.
After our last DJI Mini 4 Pro precision landing test, viewer SergioNayar brought up an interesting question: could DJI's AR settings be playing a role in just how accurately Dwight returns to his takeoff point? There was only one way to find out. In this video, we put Dwight through four more precision landing tests. First, we made two benchmark flights with everything set normally. Then we turned the AR settings OFF and repeated the test two more times. Did turning them off finally throw Dwight off target... or have we busted another precision-landing myth? The results were surprisingly consistent. Our original precision landing experiment tested whether different takeoff methods affected Dwight's ability to return accurately — and the results from that test surprised us too. If you haven't seen that one yet, check it out! And I think we've officially stumbled into a new series. If there's something YOU think could affect DJI's precision landing accuracy, leave your test idea.
ViFly sent us their new Neo2Beam Search Light Dual Pack Kit to try out on Nobby’s Neo 2. Unlike the colorful halo lights we tested previously, these lights are designed to be functional — with two bright forward-facing search lights to illuminate the flight path and downward-facing lights designed to help the Neo 2’s positioning sensors see the ground in low-light conditions. Of course, the last time ViFly sent us drone lights, we somehow ended up flying through a graveyard at night. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on who you ask), the graveyard wasn’t available this time, so we headed to the backyard of our church instead. We start by testing the Neo 2’s ability to hover and use its Follow function as darkness sets in. After a little confusion caused entirely by the pilot, we discover the Neo was doing exactly what it was supposed to do.
My FPV journey continues, and this time Cooter and I are taking another step — our first FPV gap in full Manual Mode! After spending some time learning Manual Mode, practicing at the farm, taking the training wheels off the Avata 2, and even launching and landing the BetaFPV Aquila 20 in Manual Mode, I figured it was finally time to actually try flying THROUGH something. ???? Kelshaw joined me as my visual observer, and after warming up with Cooter in Manual Mode, we switched back to Sport Mode to scout the area for what I considered a “proper” first gap. Now, some experienced FPV pilots may have a slightly different definition of the word gap. Let’s just say a small aircraft may or may not have been able to follow me through this one.
I Forgot How Good This Drone Is... It's been way too long since I've flown Roger, our Potensic ATOM 2. At one time this was one of the drones I reached for constantly, but newer drones came along and Roger somehow ended up sitting on the shelf. Today we're fixing that. Before putting him back in the air, we're giving Roger a proper preflight inspection with the brand-new Olight ArkPro Ultra — including a trip into the Roberts mobile UV laboratory. Then we're heading out for a real flight to see if the ATOM 2 is still as good as I remember.
My DJI Mini 4 Pro, Dwight, has been incredibly accurate during our precision landing tests — usually landing within just a few inches of where he took off. But during our last test, I noticed something strange… He seemed to keep missing the center in the same direction. Was it just coincidence, or was there actually a pattern? So we headed back out with the orange landing pad for another experiment. This time I changed Dwight's takeoff orientation for four separate flights — North, East, South and West — while keeping the landing pad in exactly the same position.
The SkyRover S1 is a drone I've really enjoyed flying, but there was one thing that kept me from using it nearly as much as I wanted to — the controller. Flying the S1 required me to use my iPhone, and on bright, hot days the screen would eventually dim so much that it became difficult to see. After recently picking up the new SkyRover screened controller with our X1, “Bo,” I heard that the same controller was also compatible with the S1. So today we're taking “Luke” back out to Rattlesnake Island to find out if this controller can solve my biggest problem with the SkyRover S1!
I've been learning to fly Cooter, my DJI Avata 2, in Manual Mode — but I've always done it sitting comfortably in my chair. After Kevin from Altitude Drones pointed out that he learned Manual Mode while standing, I figured it was time to get out of the chair and give it a try. First, I took Cooter up for a seated warm-up flight since it had been a couple of weeks since I'd flown him. After knocking off the rust, everything felt great. We flew some gaps, got some nice cinematic footage, and I felt pretty comfortable again. Then I stood up. Almost immediately, everything felt different. I felt like I was swaying, my flying got rougher, and at one point I was even having trouble remembering which fingers I needed to level Cooter out.
Can You Tell Which Drone I'm Flying Just From the Footage? Today we’re trying something completely different… I brought a drone to a beautiful little creek, but there’s one thing I’m NOT going to tell you — what drone I’m flying. No controller footage. No telemetry. No screen recording. No specs. During the flight, all you’ll see is the actual footage recorded by the drone. Your job is simple: Can you figure out what drone it is just by watching the footage?
Have you ever wondered if parking your truck near your drone ruins return to home accuracy? What about a drone that doesn't even have precision landing capabilities? Does parking your vehicle too close to your drone's takeoff point affect Return-to-Home accuracy? After Roger, our Potensic Atom 2, missed his landing point by 6–7 feet during a previous flight, one of you suggested our truck might actually be causing the problem. So naturally, we had to find out. We flew multiple Return-to-Home tests with the truck parked close to the landing pad, then moved the truck farther away and repeated the experiment. The results definitely weren't what I expected!
I thought I was ready for real FPV... I was wrong... I thought flying my DJI Avata 2 in Manual mode meant I was ready for a traditional FPV drone. Then I flew the Droneer C2501. I couldn't have been more wrong. In this video I’m starting from the very beginning with my first traditional O4 cinewhoop—from figuring out 4S LiPo batteries and charging, to getting the DJI O4 Pro system ready, and finally taking the C2501 out for its first flights. Let’s just say the transition from Cooter (DJI Avata 2) to a real cinewhoop wasn’t quite as smooth as I expected. Droneer sent the C2501 to us for review and you’ll see my genuine first experience with it—including the good, the crashes, the walks of shame, and an issue I noticed with jello in the O4 footage.
Skyrover X1 is an amazing drone, and his cousin, the Skyrover S1, ain't no slouch... The Skyrover app has a new update for iOS, but the release notes don't tell us much! So we headed out to our original DJI testing pond with the Skyrover X1 and S1 to see how everything works after the update. We tested both drones using the S1 phone controller, including a 1,500-foot signal test, QuickShots, Return to Home, and precision landing. Both drones performed well, but near the end of our testing, the Skyrover X1 (Bo) did something that caught me completely by surprise! And if you're a DJI owner, you'll definitely want to see this one.
